When my boys were in Kindergarten, we just used 3 workbooks from a local discount store for numbers, phonics, and writing letters (total about $6!) We read lots of books and spent lots of time in nature. As they got older, we added A Beka & other curriculum. Eventually I trusted myself to create unit studies which were my favorite!

My mom and grandma always took such a great care of their garden even while having small children and they still do. I don't know how they do it but they do it amazing. 😃 We have homemade tomatoes, carrots lettucce, radish, onions, red peppers, cauliflower, peas, cucumbers,... I haven't started YET :)

I hope my kids remember me like how your mom remembers her summers with your grandma... we played out side and mom was in the garden... it is always like that with my kiddos!! they helped pull weeds and transplant tomatoes we started from seeds today... and they helped plant those seeds as well... I count it as our summer homeschool lessons and physical activities!

Thank you both for sharing the insight and wisdom you both have! Two pieces that honestly brought so much peace to my heart. 1. Saturday morning coffee with the husband while the kids play in their room because we want to connect but date nights are expensive and can be difficult to coordinate. So if that’s what dates look like in this season of littles (we have a 4y/o, 1 y/o, and I’m due in August!) that gives me hope for connecting with my best friend more often❤️ 2. You can have it all just not at the same time. I dream of having a garden and chickens and living somewhere with more land but it’s okay if that’s something that happens later in life while other things have to take priority. ☺️

Love having morning coffee with my "Minimal Mom Friends" - so supportive and encouraging on that journey. So, you have your own mom as a guest,, where you are from Wahington State, and she mentions Luke from MIgardener. Luke grew up in our home town in Michigan and was a classmate of my son's. : D. It just added a chuckle to my morning! Enjoy your day!
