Thank you so much for this. Confirms that I have a jumbo with original dial and hands, I had to replace the crystal many years ago, due to it literally falling out. But now I’m rebuilding it with new seals and freshly reglued Saphire crystal. And I recently just bought a panda that I will have to get to see closer if original dial and hands

In the endlinks there is more gap in Z027 lug to the next lug nd same gap in the clasp plates on which Stainless Steel JAPAN Z are marked. Look at the ends. The gap is noticeable.

yes, those details do matter, but not seeing them side by side makes it tough for those who do not know.

After I watched your tutorial today, I detected some offers of fake Pandas on the internet. The gap between 6139 and flat jApan, as well as the size of Z0727 on the end link, are good indications for a quick check on pics.I think that some owners might not know, that they own a feiko, if they bought those watches as second hand.Thank you do much for this VDO and regards from Germany

Are you trying to say on all the genuine original dial, “Japan” and “6139” much to have the space between them rather than writing consecutively close to each other. Please let me know, thanks

I noticed on your Panda that the top hour movement for the chrono was not bang on at 12:00, is yours slipping? I have a 6139 JPS that seems like just the hour chrono movement is slipping….

A great video on so many levels. It is detailed enough to make a difference. A great, starting place for the watch enthusiast who wants to go a little bit further than just “buying a watch.” Thanks for taking the time to share your extensive knowledge!

Hello friend, I have purchased a Seiko SSC911 watch but it is made in China. I bought it from an Ebay seller with more than 6.6 K followers, 26 K items sold and 99.3% positive feedback. They explained to me that Seiko produces its watches in Japan, Thailand and China. The watch is of good quality, except it says Made in China. Is there any other difference between Seiko watches depending on their manufacturing origin?

not really much difference

Fitting new parts makes a watch refurbished not fake. My old porsche has had 3 new windscreens , about 10 sets of tyres and brake pads and a new set of alloys. Its still a porsche. Hands on watches fade, and lume goes off , dials fade and corrode, crystals get scratched. They are not going to last forever and these are 50 year old watches. If the movement is made by seiko, the case was made by seiko and the dial was made by seiko its a seiko.

Unfortunately the Seiko community disagrees with this assessment.

I never buy from online and usually the dealer ship or a trusted dealer I won't buy watches online I am lucky I travel for work so I can pick up original watches and don't mind paying the price for them.

Hey Dan, great tutorial! One thing I've read is that if you see a 6139 with indices on the subdial which do not extend all the way to the edge that that's a Feiko. I see that's true for the yellow dial but not the blue. Do you agree with this tell?
@BlairWatchProject3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom. Great comment/question. I really think it depends a bit on the source of the fake/AM part. They are getting a bit harder to distinguish using the markers.
@truebluemiata3 жыл бұрын
@@BlairWatchProject perhaps it's a one way thing: if you see short ones it's a red flag, but if not could still be a Feiko. Put another way, do the markers on real 613x subdials always extend all the way to the edge?

It's interesting there are fakes of Seikos. I would love to buy a sks007j but quite honestly I can't trust the sources .

Great review Dan at the end of the day a watch is only original when first purchased. I personally own a few original watches and some now non original due to strap changes etc. One watch currently that I use as a daily wearer is not original because it has an aftermarket dial and hands this way if something happens to it it's not a big deal to me. But yes any changes should be disclosed if on sold or traded.
