I bought a “Tuna” 600m Titanium in 1977 and have worn it every day since. Dived with it, crashed motorbikes with it on and even been in a plane crash that totalled the aircraft while wearing it. I am still wearing it today and its never missed a beat.

Just wanted to drop you a note on how much you have meant to me and my new love for mechanical watches. I inherited a Rolex Sub Mariner and started looking for watch channels when I found the Urban Gentry. After watching everything you had my interest expanded into the horology of of watches and I developed a real appreciation for the art of watchmaking. I decided to take an online class on watchmaking so that I would be able to further my knowledge of mechanical watches as well as buy broken pieces and bring them back to life to further my watch collecting. Now it is turning into a sickness. As I get further into the whole watch hobby at a higher level, I still always come back to your channel to get your insights and option on watches of all price levels. Thank you for lighting the fire.

Greetings from the Philippines. I was undecided about buying a Hamilton or Tissot when I chanced upon one of your videos extolling the virtues of Seiko's Prospex models. I purchased my first Seiko (a Seiko 5) watched 20 years ago and it still keeps reliable time after all these years. I just came back from an authorized Seiko Store and bought a "Samurai"! It's an early Christmas present for myself. I will be alternating the Samurai with my G-Shock and trusty Seiko 5 as my everyday watch.

Hi TGV So many legendary designs from Seiko and in multiple price layers too. I’m mainly a Swiss watch person, but surely understand you declaring yourself a Seiko guy. The unsnobbish and innovative attitude of the company surely make them a force to be reckoned with😊👍 I like many of the models, mainly of the more dressy kind. That you can get such pretty and high quality watches as the Presages at that prices is very tempting. So go on Seiko - make the Swiss work for their money😆 Nice vid, keep up the good work👍

@@theurbangentry thanks for your lind words ! I think you put your finger on something with the "Lordy" Nickname. People always overlook this models to focus on the Grand Seiko vs King Seiko era models but with its 36000 bph it's hypnotic !! Plus with a 35mm case it's simply perfect. At around 6:55 minutes you mention the 6309 seiko as Turtle, as far as I now, the name Turtle is used for the remake Prospex version of 2016, not the original 6309. Another nickname is the Bullhead, used for the 6318-0040 stopwatch watch, the one with the pushers on top.

Love it. The pale blue Pressage with seperate seconds movement on a leather strap and a G Shock are going to complete my collection. I've only had my new 5 automatic just over a week, but it's very quickly become my favourite watch, it's hardly been off my wrist lately, and even my Citizen Eco-Drive Chrono, has been worn much less lately. I wanted a green watch for a long time, but will sadly never be able to afford a Rolex Sub Mariner Hulk. I'd like a Samurai as well, but I need to draw the line at 13 watches I feel. I might move a couple on and add a Samurai at some point, but I am happy for now. You have given me a new love for time pieces and I got my newly serviced Rotary Aquaspeed back, with a new Crystal also. I can't thank you enough for this, and my daughter has also caught the bug and adores Hugo. We now watch the videos together, and I explain as much as I can, with my limited knowledge, compared to yourself and Marc.

@@theurbangentry I was thinking about the SKX. But any nickname will probably be disappointing so probably best when it just remains as the Eskayex.

I was thinking the same thing. It's odd that the (arguably) the most popular models don't join in on the nickname fun. I guess the model identifier "SKX" is so recognizable on its own that a nickname isn't needed. Great thought, though.... I'm curious about this, as well. Cheers!

Does anyone know of a site where I could buy a franken monster? I am obsessed with how the dial looks exactly like a poker chip .

Interesting TGV. Why did you choose to mention the later reference of SRPB43 and not the original Cocktail Time SARB065?

I like to think I’m a Seikopath, but I had never heard of the Frankenmonster or seikonaut. Thanks, TGV, now I have to track down two more watch’s for my collection/horde. I’ll send you the bill.

Thanks for lighting up lockdown TGV. This was a fun canter through the Seiko nicknames (and I had wondered about some of them until you explained). I have a scarlet Komandirskie which I call the 'fat strawberry'... or just fatty for short.

I'll take the first iteration of the Alpinist with a black dial. And, the Seiko SBEBO 15 with altimeter, just for fun.

I've been wearing a Tuna for the past two days. I may put on the Flighty tomorrow. Or maybe one of the other seven Seikos in my watch box. I am a Seikopath. YOU did this to me, Tristano. YOU did this.
