Is Neverwinter worth Playing in 2024?

I remember I used to play it waaaaay before, when it was possible to use more than a single companion's effect at once, aka the Archon Trio- But then they made them obsolete, we had to level up characters again, enchantments, introduction of a new Mount Rarity, more leveling up characters- I miss the OG game ngl, It was a fun experience while it lasted, especially on Ravenloft

I've played on and off since the beta. I've spent more real money than I care to admit both on pc and console on items that are now obsolete in the game. My advice, don't spend a dime on this game.

Good advice. Also go with player-friendly Guild Wars 2 instead which doesn't need to cost you a penny, if it does then only the excellent value expansions and a couple of convenience items. Your gear never becomes obsolete in Guild Wars 2 and the best cosmetics come from playing the game. Go watch the Skill Up review of the latest expansion Janthir Wilds for full information.

I wonder if there is a reason they haven't had a visual upgrade to the game and/or made the game have a more seamless open world feel to it instead of a bunch of instances. Idk but unless the servers shut down, I don't think I could ever really stop playing entirely.

It's ever-evolving but the one worst thing is the shitty company Cryptic Studios. They were bought by Deca Games now so the next mod they take over I guess, so everyone's crossing their fingers.

Game is fun for friends. After the leveling system, game goes down hill. Game Developers are too busy balancing between buffing and nerfing everything. Instead of making meaningful improvements and features that change the way we play with each other.

I also decided to try NW once more nearly a year ago (just nostalgic after new movie about DnD). And game have changed a lot after I quit in m13. I totally agree with author than game is really much better now for new players, especially in terms of QoL, account bound thingies etc. But as for old NW player I missed a lot that versatility of being able to create rally unique character/build, to make solo challenges for yourself. I did like tanking and dps on TR/GF or heal/support on CW/SW/HR. Now there is no place for such play styles at all :( just typical rough holy trinity. It’s good for new players as game definitely more stable, but less versatile. PS: eventually I managed to make an OP that heals and top1 dps, but it’s really fully endgame toon with everything maximized and not available for regular player 😢

I wonder if you know a mmo that feels like the old neverwinter when it comes to power fantasy? Returning player from a few years back (Barovia Mod), I have been trying to play for the past month and so and it just feels off for me. (And yes, the AD costs got down by A LOT, I managed to get a full pre endgame paladin tank build just with things from the AH, never had so many legendary and mythic itens before)

Unfortunately I haven't played any similar MMOs to Neverwinter (or the old power fantasy). I wanted to come back to it, since I loved running dungeons and other queues with people, as well as grinding with friends. But the lack of progression/scaling has kept me from returning.

was in endgame gear and then they changed the rules so you spend more money, bringing enchantment to 14 now they reset everything : pay stupid player, pay ! in guild war 2, the berserker set is a good option since the start of the game foundry in neverw was pretty cool

Been playing for 3 years and love it. And been with the same Alliance since then. I did quit on and off, and pissed they ruined the winter festival. But after completing the Mod 30 secret quest, I feel alot of good things are about to happen. I also ignore the idiots in zone chats. Never did have a bad experience with other players. It was those end game ones that hooked me up when I joined.

Played it years ago on PC. While i was a mostly PvP player i still did most of the PvE campains and content across all classes. I did quit somewhere after demigorgon, think around mod9? for the single reason that 1 patch effectivly killed PvP as a whole. The introduction of true dmg for some classes (looking at you combat HR) turned the whole battlefield into 1 shots with no way to defend against. Now i did hop back in after idk how many moduls (think some dungeon with tunder and a big mantis) just to find out that my build didnt change at all and even severly undergeared i could still hold my own which made me quit again a couple hours later. Now the PvE part was the most dissapointing thing in NWO as a whole. I rly hope it changed by now but back then tanks and healers litterly where only every usefull the first 2 weeks after a content launch. After that there was no point in them besides buffs which again, didnt rly matter at all unless you wanted to 1 shot bosses. The group i played with pretty much just solo cleared dungeons 24/7 to max out AD gain for the whole account and hope for decent drops that sell for millions. While that was fun for a bit, it felt rather dull and like a waste of time. Why should i run group dungeons solo to push gear that in the end doesnt matter anyways. Hence my switch to most PvP.

I been playing since 2018. The game has died alot. They need to cross platform with xbox. All the endgame players now each other and have formed clicks. Hard 2 find master trail content. Not all guilds/alliances are helping to provide endgame content. Extremely disappointed with this game and what has happened. Their was a update today as well didn't fix the the consumable buffs. Every time we swap loadouts in 5 man content are buffs get erased. Witch causes players 2 waist money. At 1st it's was the players that make the game a problem to host master trails. Every1 has their clicks on who they wanna run with. Then players cry when people tell them they not ready 4 this type of content. Then a big fight happens just cuzz people wanna carry their friend thru content they ain't ready 4. With out informing others in q. So in the end we struggle/waist time. That's y we need cross platform with xbox. It's a small player base already every1 nows every1. People try to restrict people from getting in master trail content so they can control the auction house as well so prices can stay High.

I quitted the game around last year. I go by the name Ivanus Song. It is not the game is not good. The toxic players made me demotivated with their uncooperative and selfish strategy to aim highest DPS scoreboards. After few failures of the game, they started the blaming game targeting the lowest DPS score players but in facts they were the selfish DPS to get highest damages on the scoreboard instead of following mechanics. I did create to learn on how to be a healer and tanker. I managed to get my tanking skills up to MTOS advanced mode and my healer was not ready due to different learning curves as a DPS player to learn healing and tanking. I agree one thing: 1. No healer and tanking, waited for long hours to host a game. 2. Elitism in Neverwinter, no reputable groups and guilds you will not survive and even discriminated. 3. "Ignore" feature abuse over small matters. Literally, placing capable players on ignore list that it makes difficult to find players. 4. Neverwinter is a rich game. You do not pay to hasten your builds. You cannot keep up and be the top player or even invited in the game without the same set of items. 5. Copy and paste. Must follow the same set and playstyle in order to win. No variations in builds and gameplay. 6. Different time-zones to get active players. It is very difficult for me to stay almost late-night without any sleeps to complete the game. 7. So many bugs!!!!!!! 8. Too demanding in mechanics. NOT all people like to be stressful to play the game. Try to make it moderate. Not too hard or too easy to complete the game! 9. Many of them are quite rude and due to culture differences. We might get into conflicts due to misunderstanding. For example, we remind our friends to rest early and take care of the health for going to sleep early is a caring gesture from Asian players. However, if you remind your Western friend to rest early and stop playing, they will think you are extremely rude by meddling into their affairs as they are adults already. 10. Some even keep trolling and spamming on PE about politics and childish arguments but with no strict actions against them. Keep spamming nonsense on PE. Unlike Wicked, the only past player was only helpful on PE without any nonsense! I felt much less stressful after quitting Neverwinter and with the money 'donated' last time to Neverwinter, I can purchase even more other AAA games such as Elden Rings, Wukong, Hogwarts etc.

Hello Hello, I used to play this game, I stopped playing after module 13, then the game started to get worse, the game started to repeat itself constantly, and this was very annoying, I liked to do PVP the most, they broke it very much, which made me very sad, so while the game deserves to be better and better, the game is in a very bad situation right now, according to steam data, the game is played by 700 800 people daily, so the game is in very bad places I hope. If they fix the game, we are thinking of returning to the game with my friend because we have played without a break since the beta until module 13, so I miss the old Never winter very much, I hope the authorities will listen to what the players say and make the game more beautiful, then I am sure that many players will return to the game again because a game like neverwinter has not been made yet and will not be made, we miss the game very much, we love it very much, I hope one day it will be fixed and we will play again.

@@silentnsalty I quit the game around 7 or 8 years ago (and i had a perma stealth rogue which was quite fun to play with before updates made such a build impossible) so obviously many things have changed since thus why i mentioned the normalization of gear score and reiterate what was said in the video about the games direction since i can't speak from experience about how the game currently is . . . So i guess according to you my build didnt exist and the things said in the video are bs then? Unless you explain what is actually wrong its quite hard to understand what you are talking about . . .

A DD that does less damage as a Tank does something wrong. A Tank should TANK damage, not DEAL it. All those things mentioned are good in my opinion. Classic roles as they should be.

If you are spending astral diamonds on a companion upgrade you are wasting AD. You get enough free upgrade material to upgrade companions

U died behind the pillar... so many delayed part in the game and so much bug... unbalanced classes...worst thing is ranged dpses get moore and mooooore dmg boost since year and years and melee is just almost unplayable a endgame...not include TR.. TR is a hybrid..half melee and ranged class with incredible overpowered encounters...since years overpowered class and his partner is a CW what is the meta and their 3 partner is now a bard...new class is the baby of Devs..New mod new ranged dps boost SW... crazy how hard pushing the game to the only ranged meta... and always there is bugs in dungeeons,but fashion and new lockboxes or astral lockbox upgrade is more important than a fixed game.

This is wrong from a stand point of a mmorpg veteran someone who has played them all or most of them bless, bless unleashed, ff14. eso, archeage and Riders of Icarus ,throne and liberty, new world, wow, tera, lord of the rings online, wild star, guild wars 2, games that are semi MMOs like tower of fantasy and Diablo 1,2,3,4, no man sky ,well to put it in short I have played lots of these type of games so much so if I was to list all the games I have ever played it would take to long. so when I put that vast web of knowledge about mmorpg's to the test with neverwinter I get combat at a 3 for action combat system played way better in black desert witch is at a 10 out of 10, gets a 5 if not a 4 on graphics compared to new world or black desert out of 10, story gets a 10 out of 10 from final fantasy 14, the world is way worse in openness from a wow point of view like a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 being the highest, the controller support is a 3 verses final fantasy 14 witch is at a 10 the only real thing this game has going for it is the story and the fact that its free to play and they cut back on the pay to win more or less because they had to. because there is so much wrong with this game its hard to draw in new players compared to the other options. now for my overall rating 4.5 out of 10. This is one of the best examples of wasted potential I have ever seen this game needs a reboot go with unreal engine 5 have action combat like black desert, keep the same story and lore, go buy to play like guild wars 2, have and open world layout like wow know loading screens, have events like guild wars 2 with quest starting in a town and going out into the world but don't over do it one per zone is fine, graphics go with something stylized just a sharper version of the same graphics they have today would do the job more than likely for life. have cross-platform play with really good controller support like elder scrolls online then this game could be as good maybe better than final fantasy 14 or world of warcraft what they needed to do after this game launched as save the money for a reboot like that but what they did was spend it used the game like a cash cow now they don't have the money to invest into these changes to keep neverwinter as a good source of income for years to come so ultimately this game will fade away to nothing wasting all the money they could have made and all the enjoyment new players could have had. if you like storys and that is the only thing you care about then yes this is the game for you for mostly everyone else its a dud.

It's depressing that you didn't pay attention to the main gripe, just tunnel visioned on me saying solo, and made up some quote I never said. The main gripe is the lack of progression, that regardless of the hours you put in, your character barely gets any stronger. I literally say I wanted end-game tanks & healers to out DPS me. Then I say I want to get strong enough to curve stomp weak content. Essentially I want to feel powerful after grinding hundreds of hours, to have the option to solo some groups of enemies (in weak content). Not once do I say I want to do the content solo.
