Thank you so much! I like the way you simply stated the facts about Ooma service. I'm thinking about it, and I'm glad to know about the customer serve issue. You got those in my generation pegged right- we would probably overlook the whole upgrading issue. Thanks for the heads-up! I hope those at Ooma listen. I don't like even the appearance of being scammed by the fine print. I want to know what I am paying and will pay in the future. I appreciate the video Duke! Thanks again!

Frustrated old country man here who was tired of the constantly noisy landline... when it worked. Tech support was a PITA. If phone was out it was always down for at least a week waiting on a tech to come. Cell service is non existent at our home, so not an option. Ran across Ooma and decided to give it a try last year after switched to Starlink for internet. Used the premier plan from day one so could have a second number in a home office. Switched our landline number over to Ooma (took 2-4 weeks to complete). It just works never needing to contact Ooma Tech Support. I consider that a good thing since the landline tech support knew me by name calling so often. Now even during power outages we still have a phone and internet, once switch to solar or fire up the genny. "Is Ooma worth it in 2024?" Absolutely, turned a $75 month bill for a phone that barely worked into a ~$18 bill for one that does! (For us anyway)

On my account under services you have a 50 day countdown to opt out of the premier plan.

weird, they must have changed it

Just got it and received a confirmation email, but it went to our junk folder. Had to dig for it. They must have listened and changed, because they are making it clear they give you premier trial to start, but you have option to cancel before they bill you for it. Good to know it's not a click and done cancellation process though. Thanks for that!

The company is based in Sunnyvale, California. The city I was raised in.... anyway, I am pretty happy with Ooma except for there customer service, where all they have are hard to understand foriegners in there C/S area.... I just wish they're equipment supported pulse dialing, as I have a lot of rotary dial phones in use....

I concur! OOMA, like most, have untrained customer service reps. Many of their customer support representatives are quite unhelpful, and in my opinion, most of them do not understand English fluently enough to be able to assist you beyond providing you with the most basic information.

Straight Talk sells a phone base service. Basically turns your landline into a cell phone. It uses cell towers as opposed to home internet. $15 a month for unlimited nationwide calling, $30 if you want unlimited global calling too. Plug you landline in and you're good to go.

My ooma goes to do not disturb... But I don't know how to undo it

I'm not sure how to fix that, it would likely be a setting under my.ooma.com/login

I concur - when I have to deal with their customer support I need to take a long or 10 deep breath and talk to them. Extremely rarely I had my issues solved on my first calls - I have to call a number of times to finally speak with someone who “gets it”. Very frustrating

I uae the service. Agree, terrible customer service and communication. Their call blocking is the only thing I like.

I'm very sorry, but you didn't answer your own question: Is Ooma worth it in 2024? I would say: it depends. :) It was only two reasons for me to get it: 1. cheap international calls (if your relatives abroad don't have access to the internet) 2. phone set in every room. To my great regret, I have lost the need to call abroad. And I realized that 99.9 percent of the time I do not need a phone in every room. So, the conclusion is obvious - I have canceled it. But must say that I have used Ooma for about 15 years and was totally happy with it for $6.78 monthly at the very beginning it was $3.00. Thanks, Ooma, and good buy! Until I'll buy a much bigger house :)

You ramble too much. Yeah, you missed it! It was your fault. Just own it. Ooma does exactly what they advertise, but you have to read and understand the terms and conditions before you press "ACCEPT."

"Ditto" @user-pb9qq7ti1k. You hit it on the nail. OoMo sounds great, but it's nice to know that the service was lacking. Also, check the fine print. Why should they hide a fact about their product? If the product works that well, then the fine print should not be something that makes you not want to purchase it. Do they have so little confidence in their product that they have to hide the fine print? Duke, thank you for your review.
