I've not had any problems at all. Paying for the base service, they bill me $5.54 per month, that's it.

I’m glad this was someone’s experience. It took two months before they non-consensually upgraded me to the premiere service. Sorry I ever signed up for their service.

They clearly state taxes and fees are billed on their website
@gene-allenmarshall2443 күн бұрын
I see the extra international charges. Do you call India from America? Because the website even says there’s a per minute fee for those, plus tax and whatever. This is a good service for people who only do basic calling within the country, or to Canada and Mexico. I wouldn’t pay for any extras unless I was ultra active and needed my home line accessible by cell phone on the go. Even then, there’s regular cell phone plans that make more sense with home adapters.

The $142 a year is Ooma's charge for their Premier service. You can cancel that at any time. The monthly rate is not an Ooma fee. It is the fee for your 911 service, owed to your city or county, and then telecommunication taxes owed to the Federal Govt, your state, and maybe even your municipality. I have had Ooma for a very very long time. I live part-time in two different areas of the county. When I am at House A I currently pay $6.42 a month. When I move to House B the rate goes up to $9.36. That difference is all due to tax and 911 rates. I am guessing that you live in Illinois, Arkansas, New York, or Washington, which according to Google have the highest telecommunications taxes in the country. Alabama, Arkansas, and Illinois (especially if in Chicago) have the highest 911 fees. These taxes and 911 fees will follow you to any provider.

Every cell phone bill, and every Comcast bill I get includes sizeable 'taxes and fees.' Yes, your fees seem high; so, the issue is amount of monthly fees, not that they should or shouldn't be.
@techmasterflash2 жыл бұрын
You are subscribed to a World International Calling Plan and not their Basic Phone Service (taxes and fees) which for me in Massachusetts is now up to around $7 a month. That is why that figure is so high. looks like they f'd up. You should ask for a refund or years of free Premier Annual Service.

It depends on where you live and what packages you have. Fo us, we pay 6.33 per month and like 102 once a year billed which is a lot cheaper than any phone service, i.e. Verizon, etc for home service.

I've has ooma for 11 years and this NEVER happened to me, I started out at $5 a month, now $6. I have friends who never were charged that. I believe all the reviews but not this one!

I have tried cancelling my ooma for TWO YEARS. They keep you on hold forever or say they need to transfer you to a specialist hoping you will hang up. I have waited 45 minutes each time! Use a refillable credit card if you can.

Also use a virtual card if accepted by Ooma with a set limit, or cancel the virtual card, so they can't bill you anymore.

The Obi device will no longer work once yours breaks, and there is no way to replace it. Google voice further has much worse connections, will not reach whom you dial out to, and is very unreliable. Needless to say, Google voice has no 911 so if you are elderly or with chronic health problems this "free" service can kill a person.
@davejoseph5615 Жыл бұрын
Maybe you live in a high tax location? My only charge is a monthly charge for basic phone service which is $6.

There is the Obi device for google voice. I didn't know about it before I signed up for OOMA.
@TorrentFiend102 жыл бұрын
Actually this device is no longer available. I'm currently looking at ooma because my parents have waited far too long to set up ObiHai 200 with Google voice to transfer their landline over to Google voice. They don't get technology as much so they delayed far too long but at the moment this device is no longer available. Can't buy it anywhere and their end of service is happening in 2023 it seems. I'm trying to find the best free voice over internet solution out there where they can Port their landline over to it one time and be done but right now it's kind of looking like ooma might be the best thing to set them up with. It's super cheap, close to free, we'll have 911 service, and can easily integrate into the phones they already have around the house. I'm looking for a free solution that would give all the Google voice features the way obihai 200 set up wood with the polycom box but haven't found another solution as good as this so far. If you happen to know if something as good as the obihai 200 landline port over to Google voice please let me know. Ooma is it looking like the least hassle, so cheap it's almost free best alternative at the moment but I would still love to find something that would be absolutely free once the hardware is set up and the landline gets transferred. Just haven't found anything better yet.

For anyone interested... OBI was bought out and is discontinuing home VOIP service as of December 2023

Thank you for this warning. I just got the OOMA home service because Cox raised the price of my landline phone by $68 and OOMA offers it for about $5.03/month. Can you tell me the service you mentioned in the video ? Was it called Reem or something like that ? I will begin to watch my OOMA bills very carefully. We are sitting ducks for these hi tech service providers. They have my bankcard , maybe I should switch to a prepaid credit/debit card ? Anyway I subbed to you.
@xoneeleven3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend Dialpad for better overall service. They have better quality voice clarity, you can send and receive SMS messages, and they are actually cheaper than Ooma, overall. That said, Ooma's user interface is vastly superior to Dialpad.

my guess you clicked on some fake service, because you can just get the technical equipment through amazon, then you sign up and you're paying $6 a month. If you are paying through credit card, report the card stolen, replaced card...done

I was planning to order a kit and subscribe with them, but after seeing this, you know what? Screw them! I called them awhile ago and asked few questions. I ended up in the Philippines, and the representative tried to rush me saying that I must give my credit card number NOW. I said that I can't right now coz I'm work. She said to call back next time and ask to be transferred to her personally as if she's the only employee who has this $6 per month deal. It sounds like bs. I certainly don't trust Philippines. Thanks a lot for that video.

First, I think you're an absolute fool for not paying attention to ANY bill you're paying for at all times. What kind of moron waits 2 years before they notice "over billing". Second, all we have are dates and fees, we don't have a clue where you live and what services you signed up for. There is a difference between a fan-bay and someone that came here to figure out if you really got scammed. You don't have a clue what service you signed up for, they billed you based on some mistaken clicks you made and now you decided to make this pointless ass video to claim you got scammed. Just because you have a camera and a KZbin account and said some words on the internet, doesn't mean we have to believe the bullshit you're spewing out. "High Tech" hillbilly. Nothing about your channels makes me believe you're high tech. Anyone between the ages of 10 to 40 should be familiar with what you own and how it functions. Your tech has been common knowledge for over 20 years.

It looks like you are paying for the world international plan but call areas that aren’t covered within that plan. I’m just an average Joe trying to find a phone service and I can tell that you’re being billed PER minute on your international calls. If you called areas within your plan it would only cost the $17.99 plus taxes and fees. So maybe $26 a month. The only plan that’s free is the basic US calling plan. There are taxes and fees tho. My area is around $5 a month.
