Love that cow! Sweet memories of our gardens, two on our property and two at his dads! We always left some sunflowers for birds and pheasants! My mother-in-law was so knowledgeable about pickling, canning and freezing! My father-in-law planted in slightly different harvest times thus not all produce came due at one time!

We had acorn squash grow across the garden area, up a fence, up a tree and had acorn squash just hanging from a tree. lol. Squash is definitely resilient.

My horse was confirmed in foal by a vet, but must have absorbed the embryo because I ended up with no foal, just a fat mare! Hoping you have a better outcome.

If you put panty hose or tie on cheese cloth over the sun flower heads, then hang them seed side down in an airy place, they'll ripen and dry. The seeds will fall into the cloth, and it keeps bugs out. My grandma grew huge sunflowers, easily 18+ inches across, some over 8 feet tall. She took pride in posing next to them every year, all 5 feet of her. Lol

Maybe, but that’s a possibility anywhere in the mountains/forests. The key is to manage the property and build a defensible space around any structures and that helps limit the risk

Corn is super easy to freeze on the ear. Just scald it in boiling water for a bit, put in ice water, drain and pat dry. Pop in ziplock bags and freeze. Heat it up in the microwave on a cold snowy winter day for a touch of sunshine in your day. ♥️🌽

I don’t know if I am using the wrong type of corn, but I do this(because my granddaughter loves corn on the cob) and it tastes watery and more like the cob, even if I vacuum seal it. This year I cut it off the cob.

The big thing is don’t actually cook it before freezing. Only scald quickly basically to kill any bacteria that might be there. Then when you take it out of the freezer wrap the ear in plastic wrap and only microwave it for about 4 minutes (depending on how big the ear is). Cook just till a fork inserts easily in the corn. I’ve done this with regular corn and salt and pepper corn with no problems. The fresher the corn the better the results. SO much easier than cutting off the cob and you don’t lose a bunch still on the cob like when you cut it.

If you want to know for sure if a cow is pregnant. Have someone knowledgeable come to test her. Unfortunately, fat doesn’t equal pregnant so a cow can be really wide without carrying a calf. Or you could put on a glove yourself and see if you can feel the calf. If she is within a couple of weeks of calving, you should be able to feel a foot. I hope that this helps and good luck.

I think she is pregnant despite not getting any kickbacks. It’s more likely that it’s just small because we need her with a really small mini Jersey bull

I’ve basically got her on free choice except the grain I ration because if she gets to much of that I just find it in her poop. I’m like 99% sure she’s pregnant I think just got her due date wrong and was expecting a calf by now lol.
