We had so much fun in the UK. We spent most of the time finding antiques and goods for our shop in all the boot fairs and antique stores and charity shops. But when we weren't doing that I was busy getting ideas for finishes on the cottage. (Which is high on my priority list to finish this winter.)

I like vines also but have reservations also. They will separate the mortar and brick, siding, etc. Messy looking when they die and leave marks. I hope you ask about it while you’re there and share with us.

There are trellises that stand out from the building, so that the wall is not compromised. There are also architectural trellises for building walls in commercial construction.

You could put a trellis or cattle panel and put it up against the cottage and grow some Virginia Creeper up it. That would keep it from degrading the walls, I think, and look pretty. It turns a really pretty red in the fall and has purple berries.

Oh Jami and Zeb! This is all absolutely gorgeous! I did a screenshot of the sheep on the terraced land to print. I didn’t think you’d mind and it should be beautiful when done. I did a separate screenshot (to print) of the one where the one sheep out of what appears to be hundreds behind it turned to look at you. Those gorgeous sheep with the gorgeous black and white faces that followed! Oh be still my heart! Zeb, you should have an Etsy shop for those beautiful photos! ♥️ But next time tell them to take those tower thingys out of the shot! 😅 It’s hard to take an “Old World”looking photo with cell phone towers in it 😂 Oh! And don’t even get me started about that fancy “chicken coop”! 😅♥️

So glad you included the architecture and landscapes of your trip. I love seeing the details of things like the churches and the railing on that bridge. I wish we were as into aesthetics and longevity here in the US. I know it’s more expensive to decorate buildings and to make cool walkways and paths but I wish there was more of that attention to detail by the local government funded walkways and paths. Make it a more beautiful experience to get out and walk to places. Everything here is geared towards driving to get everywhere. Anyways, loved watching this one, Zeb. Thanks so much for sharing! ❤

Wonderful video, Zeb! I have had fountains/water features in my yard and they are a huge amount of work: keeping the slime out, keeping mosquito larvae out so we don’t get West Nile Virus or some other horrible disease, making sure the pump doesn’t run dry and replacing and replacing the pump! I finally hauled mine away! And when we moved, our new house had one that I had to haul away too. Looks romantic, but …….

Love all the great stone work. Zeb you’re correct to be concerned about vines on your buildings. There are lots of ways to get the look without having them right on the building. Whatever you do don’t use Ivy. It will work it’s way into every crack and crevasse and under shingles. It can even ruin mortar. Use trellises about a foot away from the building and climbing roses, clematis or honeysuckle.

Choose your vine carefully so its one that does not eat into the structure. Try a wisteria - the flowers are beautiful and old fashioned

Great video. There is a noninvasive plant that growns on walls in the us. We've had it growing on the exterior walls of our airbnb cottage. We do have to prevent it from growing into the eves. However, it's not frequent, about once a month. You get the look without the structural concerns. I wish that I could somehow send you pictures. It has small leaves, and it requires "shaving" about once a month. Again, great video.

Jami and Zeb, I just did a home inspection on a house in Tucson with vines on it (I loved them and they were beautiful) but the house and the tile roof had been very damaged by the vines, to the point of cracking the tiles and even getting under them. There was SO MUCH damage. I wouldn't suggest vines after that but you two have the skills to fix the damage, if it occurs, so there's that.

I always said my love of stones comes from having Welsh Blood running through my veins…..I think I hyperventilated during this whole video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ What phenomenal scenery you shred with us ! I would have thought I died and went to heaven! Why was there “pink or blue” dye on the sheep’s butts ? Don’t tell me people needed to know “ewe or ram?” 🤔 Can you imagine if those huge trees behind the Church could talk! What history they could tell us! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS FABULOUS TRIP and sharing the sites! Loved every moment !! God bless 🙏🙏

The rams wear a paint harness on their chest. When they have mated the farmer knows which ram mated which sheep by the color marked on their bum. No color means they are open. I learned this from watching "The Sheep Game" on KZbin.

@@yumikodebold6197 That makes perfect sense ! Thank you 👍. I’ve seen dye on cows that are “dry” or something like that, but not having sheep farms around us ( and I can tell the different between male / female) I couldn’t figure out the color on them 🤔

You can build a trellis or two. Hinge it away from the structure so it will detach, liying flat on the ground to maintain the vine or in time, repaint or clean the siding and then lift it back up and reattach. My explanation is probably confusing but I saw this done by Elliot Coleman on Gardening Naturally in the 1990s.
