If you did have a manual, you would NOT wanna rest your hand on the stick as you mentioned. The way a manual works is, There are shift collars between 2 gears, so 3rd and 4th for example.. That is always spinning., When you’re in gear, the collar is locked to one or the other ( 3rd or 4th in this case). Your shifter is attached to a shift fork, which rides right in the middle of that collar. Just kind of floating on a film of oil. If you rest your hand on the gearshift, and are putting any pressure at all, the shift fork is now applying that pressure to one side of the collar. This will cause Wear which could lead to your transmission to start popping out of gear after period of time…

The GR86 is amazing to drive, transmission is personal preference, got a Trueno Blue premium recently for 29k out the door had snow tires thrown in the deal with 3k miles on the car and a 6 speed manual, honestly it’s been a blast, it’s odd to go from a FWD Corolla to RWD, but honestly the car is great no matter the trans type my preference was manual cuz every car I’ve had since I’ve started driving was manual, I’ve driven both a auto and manual GR86 both were great, it just comes down to preference, affordability and availability honestly. Looking forward to the 86 in the snow

I learned how to drive manual on an '80s Ford Probe, and I liked it. But let me tell you ... once I experienced paddle-shifting, it opened up a whole new world. You get the control of shifting exactly when you want to and keep the feel of being directly connected to the engine and the wheels, without having to tap-dance with the pedals. The only time this car isn't in Manual mode is when it's in Park or Reverse. I bought my 2016 BRZ Limited Auto (paddle shift) in 2022. I wanted first-gen because I don't like the duck-bill spoiler on the second-gen. Even the extra horsepower and torque wasn't enough to sway me to get the newer version. Mine was also a great buy, as it only had 13.8k miles on the odometer and it had a clean title. I love driving this car, even during Minnesota winters. It's absolutely the best car I've ever had. My new transmission preferences: 1. Paddle-shift Auto 2. Manual 3. Auto

Is it worth it?? The question are, are you too lazy and incompetent to shift your own gears? (Which is the beauty of this car since stick shift is going away). And should the AUTOMATIC Transmission be abolished for a DRIVER'S car such as the GR86/BRZ? YES!

This car is not worth it if you're just driving around but I guarantee you that's not what this car was made for 🤔🤭😲 they knew what they were doing they said this car out there into the world. This car is built for performance enhancing could you imagine swapping a 2JZ all wheel drive system into this from out of the Lexus is250....🤯🤤🤫 I mean considering that I drive and all-wheel drive 700 horsepower Honda Civic. And at the fact that it's a bittersweet drive that I have with what I really wanted was the Scion tC the last generation with the is 250 all-wheel drive 2jz engine in it but considering that they just made this car right here oh my goodness I want this car to all-wheel drive it and engine swap it
