Brake cooling ducts of a Porsche GT3 can be fitted to the wishbones if not already done. I don't drive as agressive as Misha but did 6 laps in a row last year with a first gen BRZ and different pads/rotors. Oil temp got a bit high at 135°C, would upgrade the cooler and I hope a baffle plate is installed. My GT86 specialist recommends 5W50 on track. Coolant temp seems to be running away as well, 108°C is a bit much compared to stock 88°C imho.

@whiteunclerukus5 ай бұрын
Seeing a lot of misinformed comments here, the problem with the 135c oil temp is the OIL PRESSURE, yes the oil itself can handle running that hot but at that temp your oil pressure is significantly lower than what’s needed to keep the engine properly lubricated and you start to skim bearings.

True. Though I’m sure the stock garbage 0-20 Toyota oil is long gone. A quality 5-40 should be good at that temp. A good 50 weight is recommended for sustained temps over ~135c/275f.

@@JPTinioMedia oh know, i had a 2022 GR86 and have been through all of this. There’s a channel (900BRZ) and he’s done a tome of instrumented, measured testing it’s been proven not as the root cause of the oiling issues. It’s moreso the pan, baffling, and other issues that reside within the block. The silicone/rtv issue is a problem, but it’s not the main problem.
@FriendlyIntentions5 ай бұрын
@@DillonShelburn Yep, in a race format I would not let oil go over 115 continuous and maybe a peak at 120c for a short amount of time. Oil pressure really dips after 110c. For example Motul 8100 x-cess 5w40 @ 100C has a viscosity of 14.2 mm²/s. If you have 50 psi of oil pressure @ 100c @ 120C oil pressure is approx. 29psi if viscosity is 8.32 mm²/s using the Walther formula. I dont even want to know how low it is at 135C

Great lap ,these cars can be a lot of fun.About the brakes my 2018 civic has the same weight ,same size discs and a single piston caliper with about the same brake pad size.They however are 25mm thick stock where as the gr86 are 24mm. I think the biggest culprit is that the discs can't get rid of the heat fast enough .294x24mm with a double piston caliper vs the BBK which is at least 330x28mm. I think a 300x28mm disc with internal pillar vanes would work with the stock calipers without overheating.
