I never thought of Palworld being a Pokémon killer, it's still too new, and has yet to really make a foundation for itself, but, I agree with everyone that it will finally give Pokémon what it's been needing for awhile, competition. Who knows, maybe the next Pokémon game will truly be unique, rather than. Confusing time and space plot(without the time and space legendaries having any relation as well.) with its newest gimmick being, Pokémon with funny hats. You

I think that Palworld's hype is overblown with the Pokemon Killer narrative. It's a good game, just people are crowning another "Pokemon Killer"

Palworld isn't guilty of plagarism. It just... Literally isn't. If it were, then pokemon themselves would have been sued by Dragon Quest for similarities just as strong as the biggest ones Palworld detractors point to. Even if Nintendo wanted to, they couldn't win a court case. But on top of that.... They don't want to. The reason Nintendo's lawyers are so aggressive is because they can lose their IPs if they fail to act on blatant plagarism. This means that if plagarism isn't blatant (ie, no designs of actual pokemon are used), their lawyers have no requirement to get involved.

The plagiarism accusations are getting out of hand plus Nintendo is acting on it since people in social media are demanding they do something. So I guess even Pokémon doesn't want to get involved in all of this.

@@HermitGRAB Nintendo took down a pokemon mod of Palworld, but isn't acting against palworld directly. Unless there's recent news I haven't heard about.

I do agree in a way. "A JRPG were you recruit creatures to battle for you" may be an idea that's overdone but it is a reliable idea for games. I think the idea is broad enough to warrant their own separate ideas kinda like the Dark Souls franchise with Nioh and Life of P to the point where it became its own genre (Soulslike).

Pokémon (Nintendo) is notorious for taking down fangames and mods, but I think they know that Palworld is its own separate game so they won't act on it as quickly.

People are misrepresenting what Palworld is so hard. It's not even a poke'mon game. It's more of an Ark survival/ minecraft crafting style game that uses Poke'mon as one of the tools of survival. Like chopping down a tree with an axe... harvesting items.... or making a poke'mon do it for you. There's minimal story, minimal battling, and the mechanic of catching and leveling is just there. The villainous team doesn't have any motivation besides looting your dead corpse. I mean come on, how can that replace the franchise?

The entire narrative of "Pokémon with Guns" makes Palworld's attention misrepresented already. And of course, people online don't wanna research beyond what's being fed to them and just run with narratives (especially on Twitter)
