Good common sense advice that applies pretty much everywhere, not just Paris. Another useful advice: get yourself a public transportation card with unlimited rides. Taxis and Ubers are expensive and not always available. When travelling bring only the bare minimum, it will be a lot less stress.

All great information and common sense! I am interested in that doorstop with the alarm. I haven’t been pickpocketed ( yet) but a police officer friend of mine was in Rome while on the metro. I just tell people to be aware but not paranoid!

Do they have lots of mass shootings there? Is it safe to walk about after dark? Are there lots of homeless beggars in the streets? Blend in by not shouting, by speaking French, by not trying to use dollars, by taking two hour lunches, by using public transport.
