You don’t really know anyone until you live with them…….then the hard work starts.😳

The biggest lesson I learned from dating in the past is to be open to every possibility, because if you aren't open, love will never be possible. The second lesson was to say, and do everything that is in your heart, to avoid regrets, because the end of a relationship is hard enough, without also grieving the 'what ifs'. The third lesson was to try and avoid being negatively changed by heartbreak, because then, if I let a negative relationship have a negative effect on me, not only has the relationship ended, but I have lost part of myself. And the last is to never give up. I got married at 40, and feel that was perfect for me as I knew myself well by then. Enjoy the exciting dating part though, exciting times!

The bit about learning to say no to the men who can't meet your needs really struck a chord with me, Jess. It's been the reason for the trail of failed relationships behind me. There were men who had good in them but they weren't right for me and as soon as I realised that , I'd push further thinking that with time it'll get better, we'd grow into each other but no. The sooner you realise it's rather a no, say so. No matter all the other factors. So gut-wrenching and sad but I also feel now it's SO important to do.

This was so insightful Jess. I didn’t meet my husband until I was 32 and one of the reasons I feel our relationship is relatively calm and happy is because of the lessons I learnt from each failed relationship previously. I took those painful lessons away with me and became stronger and a better partner. Good luck and enjoy the dating scene.

You've definitely hit on many of the most salient points. In my experience, it's impossible to have a healthy relationship if the people involved are not healthy individuals. The onus is on each of us to "do the work" before we bring anyone else into our lives. That said, much of our healing can only be done in relationship. I knew I was ready to date again, after my divorce, when I felt a desire (or Want) to be with a particular person, not a Need to. We are all responsible for our own happiness. No one can "make" us happy and it's a terrible burden to put on another person. If a couple continue to grow and mature, the work never truly ends. 💕 Good luck out there.

Thanks for sharing your dating experiences and thoughts. I’m usually stuck in my head when I’m initially first dating someone and it is hard for me to relax and just be myself. I try to remember that the first date should just be whether I genuinely just enjoy being with the person so it takes the pressure off.😊

Hi Jess, I really enjoyed your video on dating. So many beautiful insights about ourselves and the men we have dated and loved. As a divorced woman myself I have dipped my toe into dating from time to time. I really resinated with what you said about men benefiting from relationships, as I have provided a lot of emotional and domestic support in previous relationships. As a single person I've relished the freedom of not having to do that, and the energy I can put back into my own life. But I have also observed beautifully reciprocal relationships around me. So I know these gorgeous, giving men are out there. I'm working on myself to feel deserving of that kind of love and support and to feel ready to give again. Thanks again for the inspiration ❤

I believe in love at first sight and that strength of love enduring and I believe in the one for you and I have waited 23 years for that one and the attraction and pull still as strong so it is just about having that thunderbolt and it can happen.

Ted Bundy was attractive and many of his then friends said he could be funny, a good cook and the life of the party...let me tell you something young woman, today you meet some man and he can fill your head with whatever nonsense he thinks you want to hear....my advice, find out all you can about his family, his past and do your own background check. Don't waste your precious time at a certain age unless you know for a fact you never want to have children and the family unit most people always think about. Being good looking and funny is a start but watch out for the other side of the man you don't yet know....
