It's hard to play when there's nothing in the area, it's true. A couple may spawn near you, if you're really rural, that's about it. You can't get more items except the couple freebies in the shop daily. You won't be permitted to add pokestops because there's no landmarks. No gyms means no coins, if there is a gym it's 200 days to flip.

My take before watching the video. Yes anyone can play, but not everyone will be able to access every feature of the game. The main draw of the game (besides the Pokemon name) is that it needs to be played outside and pushes player to explore. That's what made it such a hit when it released, and why it's still going strong after 8+ years. Anyone who isn't capable/willing to play the game outside will miss out on a lot, but at least they should know when picking up the game that exploring is a key aspect of playing Pokemon Go, so in my mind it shouldn't be a complaint anyone has, especially since there are so many Pokemon games out there, so Pokemon fans will have plenty of other options. Remote raid passes being released the way they were caused a lot of frustration now because they were a game-breaking item. They were necessary for Niantic to keep the game alive at the time, but making them cheaper than normal raid passes (at the time there was a 1-coin box with a remote pass every week, and the remote pass bundle cost 250 coins for 3, while there was no bundle for the green passes at 100 coins each) meant that changing the price and putting a daily limit all of sudden made the game a lot harder to enjoy for people who had gotten used to it, and may not have been willing to put more effort in the game anymore. Remote passes did make it much easier for remote players to play, but they go against what made the game a success in the first place, and have always been paid items so they made the game a lot more "Pay2Win" for lack of a better word. The game has also evolved and has a lot more things to do than when it released. I think it is well diversified with things that will suit people who enjoy the collection aspect, people who see it as a social game, PVP players, hardcore players... It is techincally a never ending game, as there will always be something to hunt for anyone, as long as they are willing to put the effort in.

I'm semi-rural. Part of the game (for me) was building up my local area. I've doubled the amount of gyms and stops in the nearest neighbourhood to me. That's just the game. Games have hard modes, and easy modes. Rural is hard mode. :P

I lived in a tiny town in the literal middle of nowhere for 6 months when my father in law passed away, there was barely cell reception but there was certain spots that you did get, there was a path in particular that I could walk and keep connected around that loop of town, the problem is in those scenarios there’s nothing to nominate for a stop, someone in town had sculptures on the edge of their property but it got voted down because it was on someone’s property, there needs to be a different way to evaluate rural towns if they wanna make it more available for everyone. It doesn’t have to be a lot of stops but some is better than none. Now I live in a main city but I still know there’s people in rural places that would love to have some spots around town to make the daily grind possible and a little better.
@pokedaxi9 күн бұрын
ya this is the issue -I was discussing - there needs to be more looses rules or way for people to take charge
@Cocomelxne9 күн бұрын
Completely agree, I’m just curious how they would do that, people on wayfarer wouldn’t know that the stops I tried to nominate in those 6 months were in a tiny town in the middle of the woods basically, however someone on the street behind me in the city I’m in built a little free library box on their property and it got approved for a pokestop, so that’s where I’m confused on how that got through but sculptures on the edge of someone’s property in a tiny town with not a single stop gets denied. It feels maddeningly inconsistent. And it’s not just one of those little libraries on someone’s property, they’re actually common in this city (not sure about other cities)

We met face to face for raid days and gmax battles. I made one of my parks more enjoyable to play. I watched the how to nominate pokestops video and it’s a game changer. Before I had two stops and 1 gym at my local park. After watching the video I nominated 5 stops. They were accepted and now we have 4 gyms and 3 pokestops at that park. All to say the game is just a game, but if you do things to make it better; it will be more enjoyable.

I do believe Niantic should/can be putting more effort in regard to locations that don’t have enough pokestops. Especially considering we are **8 years** into this game. We know Niantic is capable of placing pokestops randomly onto the map just for events, so they very well can do that for rural towns to help out players. Place a couple of those pokestops in each grid block a small town covers and that will help out players tremendously. And then it can be up to those players to try and nominate gyms for raids. Niantic very well has the means yo do so, but are seemingly ignoring this option for no real reason
@Godsbackhand710 күн бұрын
Players in rural areas have to accept some responsibility. I have seen people complain about not having a pokestop and gyms, and they have done nothing to nominate any gyms or pokestops. My area has easily 10x more pokestops now than were available even 4 years ago. There was a huge push for players in my area to nominate stops and gyms, which has paid off.

Everyone can play this game. Depending on where you live, your experience with the game will vary. Depending on how much money you have and are willing to spend, your experience will vary. Depending on your ability to walk significant distances, your experience will vary. Depending on what type of phone you have, your experiences will vary. Depending on your access to a vehicle, your experience will vary. Depending on your age, your experience will vary. Depending on your access to an internet connection, your experience will vary. Depending on whether you have to work or go to school, or are retired, your experience will vary. This game isn’t inherently pay to win, but there are a lot of advantages that come with not being f2p. A lot of the issues that can impact a player’s experience can be overcome by simply paying. If there are few stops in your area, you can buy balls. Nobody to raid legendaries with? Buy a remote pass. While not everyone has these options, the option is in fact there.

Back then you couldn’t request stops from GO, so I learned about Ingress and used it to create tons of gyms and stops. People were thrilled at first, but it was disheartening seeing them eventually lose interest, not doing events and stopping playing My sister even printed some posters to recruit new players, and even if we didn’t ever hang them, I still remember them fondly. Just wanted to say thank you Dax for putting out your Pokémon Go content, I recently got back into the game and you've helped me catch up on a lot of the more recent mechanics and additions they've added since the launch. I also really appreciate that you share a lot of your game knowledge with us in hopes that newer players or even returning veterans like myself stay current on the relevant information. I really agreed with your take on making the wayfarer criteria being made more flexible, especially in terms of rural players. An additional thought to your take on that is if Niantic allowed very active players to more easily take advantage of the wayfarer tools, they would be able to more easily lay the groundwork(routes, stops, gyms, etc.) for a better Pokémon Go experience for newer players, who would otherwise be deterred from playing due to the lack accessibility to stops and the like. Maybe Niantic could incentivize active players to do this by rewarding them with dust, candies, exclusive badges etc. (again I have no clue if the current wayfarer system actually does this or not) This could potentially create a positive feedback loop, as newer players join to a better player experience, they then become the active players who further lay the groundwork for even more new players.

When I visit the country there are still spawns everywhere. Not as many stops but spawns nevertheless. Living in a big city you pay more for rent because of the convenience of all the things you have access to. Unfortunately this is the way of the world. You will never have the same experience in the country as the big city. Pokémon Go reflects life.

Not many games are for everyone. But Pokemon Go has a lot of different ways to interact with the game. Gotta catch them all? How do you define "all"? Do you need all the shinys? Live shiny Pokedex? Me? I just punch the dex. I play more PVP than most but not as much as some. There are all sorts of Pokemon that I don't have and won't have any time soon because they are regional or event exclusives. Niantic puts them all out widely eventually so I just need to be patient.

Ive read and heard many players going on about how bad the ambassador program is. Taking months to a year to get accepted, biggest problem is everyone wants to be the *cool kid* giving out free codes for passes and Max Particals. Not understanding that being a ambassador is nearly a full time job itself. Theres events every Monday-Wednesday from 6-7. Not including comdays/raid days/max battles. Along with the standard 4-5 day events during the week. People play favortism over whose campfire meet ups to check into and people fight about who should be the Ambassador. From the jump being an ambassador sounds like fun. Dealing with 25-250 people all mopping about anything this game does wrong doesnt sound like my cup of tea. My local community is about 20 trainers and we do pretty good without campfire or an ambassador. Although free codes for things would only make the gameplay for the community events better. Also another thing, i feel like your account should have to be a certain age to apply for ambassador. Seen other local groups have an ambassador that played for 3 months.. got accepted and then stopped playing the game. Im not sure if there were more specifics to why they stopped playing.. Overall niantic is fairly bad at setting us up to fail. The campfire and ambassador programs need help or overhauled.

At one point on my block we had 8 daily players in three consecutive house with a gym next door and we would get 4-5 spawns an hour, even on community days. There’s an intersection on the highway in the middle of farmland that has 15-20 Pokémon spawn in one little area. No pokestops, no houses. Makes no sense.

It is definitely Niantic’s responsibility to make the game as accessible to everyone but at the end of the day, it’s their company they can do what they want. I don’t play a game to work. A game should not feel like a job. I run a business, I have a family, I’m constantly training for races, I don’t have time to be Niantics part-time employee. And I find it a little Ludacris to suggest waking up at 5 AM to get a job done for your game. That’s a bit of a stretch.

It is not their job to make the game accessible to everyone. That has been made very clear from the start. You can interact with the game as much or as little as YOU want. I run an incense any time I walk out of the house, I do not play without the 1 hour incense at all times! I’m a rural player, small farm town. My spawns I get with even an incense running 24/7 while I’m playing. The spawns are equal to the spawns a city player will get, without an incense running! Luckily, I do live next door to a pokestop. So I turn my go plus on at night, and let my go plus spin that pokestop next door for a few hours, before bed!

As far the game goes, I don't mind playing Pokemon Go, but I do tend to avoid every in my town when playing the game if I can help it just because I am not interested in toxic behavior otherwise I like to send Yveltal out and imagine it destroying the entire location. Otherwise I don't have problems walking miles on end for the game. I even take longer route just avoid people as well as not moving at all until they are gone. As to whether or not Pokemon go is for me take that as how you want it. Haven't ran into any toxic players at least. And if this game were to ever go offline I highly doubt I would go outside much ever again other than visiting family members or work.

Also you have an experience a lot more like the pace of Pokémon games rather than in a big city where you are surrounded by 8 mon and 2 pokeshops, a gym, max battle, team rocket, etc. That is nice to visit and great for you if you have that but it is not really like the original Pokémon adventure feel. Working your way up to being able to make your own stops in your local area, walking around 1km buddies getting candy for one or two Mon that you worked hard on and really care about and sometimes getting to go into the city with a campfire group to raid and spend some money and have a big boost is a nice balance.

Niantic talks a lot about fair game play but there is a built in bias in the game in terms of access to resources. I live on a side of town where there is nothing that qualifies the basis of a pokestop. Then there is a house 5 minutes away by car where they never have to leave their house, 3 pokestops, and a gym. Those same locations are 2 km away from us. I get it can’t always be fair but one look at Campfire would show Niantic there is a problem. They should revisit criteria for pokestops when there are large gaps in accessibility. What would be unfair if areas with no pokestops had some criteria changes to allow for more access.

Right now at this point I can't participate in Shadows Raids or G-max battles so not a big deal, but kind hurts seeing those shiny G-max or Shiny Shadow legendary.

i feel like i dont improve, like groundhog day. was trying not to cry at work recently, cuz im more sensitive/love open and honest, i really wish the world was more like that, to a degree/you could know people's thoughts more, to a degree and realize more you're not alone/abnormal

F2P people need to invest more time to even come close to someone that spends money. Rural players are forgotten by Niantic unfortunately. City players have a huge advantage. Sometimes you don’t even need to spend to be ahead. I was staying at a place that had a gym and 3 stops on it. I’d go to events and com days with 2k ultra balls. Huge advantage.

"you never gonna master something,its a made up thing" that sound arrogant but also make sense because in life whenever you good at something there will be someone who like 10x better then you or just straight up make you look stupid and to them theres ALSO someone better then them its like a continues cycle of improvement in life

Well, improving is subjective so I don't really know if that makes much sense.

Another weird pokemon pronunciation is Arceus. Some people pronounce it as Ar-ceus, and others pronounce it as Ar-keus. With the "k" sound instead of the "c."

“Rural players” hardly even exist. A lot of people in the suburbs or towns will call themselves rural.

@@FlimsyPickles You do understand that much of America is rural, right? Things do exist outside your little bubbles of civilization. Even I live in a place that, if you want to go to regular fast food chains, or a walmart or something, it's a 3 hour walk down long, empty roads with no street lights or buildings or anything. There is even nothing visible on the horizon once you're mid way in either direction. If you go down the wrong road, you will start to smell something absolutely horrible to. That's cow dung, and you'd about to see farms.

I’m not through the video yet but in the context of talking about geolocation issues, I really feel for people in small towns and rural communities. The city I live in now is waaaay better for PoGo than my hometown definitely agree it’s not fair I hope Niantic can rectify this somehow
@FlimsyPickles10 күн бұрын
There are still many aspects of the game that can be played from rural areas. People can still use incense, encounter spawns, etc. At the end of the day this game is meant for people with some landmarks and community around them.

People in Mainland China outright cannot access the game at all. There are spots in China you can play but almost no Chinese national plays in the areas where you can play the game.

My friend and I have nominated a lot of things and a lot of them became stops or gyms. I know people who made a miniature library, and nominated that.

"What makes poekmon go good is it's unfair, just like real life" You know.. That's what Minecraft has been missing. I love that game, but maybe if you could just randomly get cancer and perma-die/lose your world, it would be better! But lol, sorry dude, we ain't agreeing here. You can't say it isn't Niantic's job to fix their game, when THEY DID. They then went out of their way to ruin it again, and make it worse than before. Not only did upping the price re-ruin the game for rural players, it made the game horrible for everyone else to, now that every "event" is just a series of tickets trying to bleed money out of you to make up for that revenue they aren't getting from remote raids anymore.

lol point I was making is pogo is unique in that way in which it has real life implications - you play it for different reasons then minecraft.

If there are tons of stops and gyms in your small town, there are likely a lot of players to do Dmax and Gmax.

@ sadly pogo is dead in my local area. From all the stops/gyms and max stops it was alive at one time but not now. I drive to near my states capital 300/400+ people meetups for gmax. I made a campfire group for my town and I’m still the only member 😅

The craziest situation happens in Pokemon Go. When your Max Particles more than or equal to 1000 quota. Then you proceed to buy Max particles with 150 Pokecoin for 800 MP. What you see is your Pokecoin deduced accordingly but your existing amounts of 1000 or more than this Max Particles DOESN'T TOP UP BY 800 MP!!! This is the terrible and horrible mechanic in Pokemon Go!! If you all don't believe me try it for yourself. Pokemon Go players need to speak up this. If Niantic don't want players to buy Max particles when players had 1000 or more then do something to block them!!!
@lelouchchanbc8 күн бұрын
I am sorry & apologize about this comment, actually add on the storage bag as how many times Max Particles. Why don't top up in the Power Stop tab as total amount of Max Particles, easier to see.

I don't think you need to be in that big of a city to play PoGo. I'm from a small town in BC with a super active PoGo community. We're not THAT small, and it's not an everybody knows each other style town but it's not too large either. There's lots of stops downtown. (The existence of downtown makes it sound bigger than it is but that is not the case)

Its simple if Niantic wants us to work for their company then they better pay us to do it or compensate us massively for our effort in game. Its exploitative and they do this so they can build their AR map for the highest bidder on our back. I will excuse myself from using any profane language. There is clear exploitation. No one should have to put in the time out of their busy schedule to do this. Spend time elsewhere in more productive ways or play other games. Plenty of games out there.

Easy to make, but hard to get accepted. About 10% of perfectly legitimate nominations get accepted (even after being reviewed) - rejected for no valid reasons. I've given up on nominating pokestops. Routes on the other hand almost always get accepted.

I don't even have to watch the video to be able to confidently say that no it's not for everyone. It's rather ableist towards some disabled people and does very little to put in any accessibility systems into the game to make it so that it can be played by people with various different disabilities.

Anywhere? No, for example the whole Russian player base was cancelled because of the war. No gyms, no stops, removed from the store. Yes, all players - kids, adults , everyone, like as if they can change anything about the war. Coke , Pepsi, macdonalds, kfc, Burger King are all operating, but Pokémon /Niantic banned all the players from playing. I think it’s wrong
@DeathSniper420110 күн бұрын
Paying Niantic just to do the job for them? Nominating pokestops isn’t achievable until higher lvls so what do you do in the meantime if you are a rural player?
