Absolutely crazzyy! To think this was meant to be an intelligent conversation Nigerians do away with intelligence and focus on being smart thats literally what keeps killing the country. Its made a culture in Nigeria where people hoard rather than exchange it value for value thats what the whiteman does but nigerians supposedly the most smartest people in the world are operating a democratic economy since 1999 are unable to have something as simple as a working credit system. Theres more than 250 million people in this country young sitting around using vibrators and busting nuts all over the place mean china used 15 years straight amended labour laws to fit US labour laws and asked them to always contract chinese flr manufacturing jobs uptil today when a multinational conglomerate comes to nigeria they just make a headline about how much they are going to invest instead the government say keep your money dont build and office here instead hire our citizens as expertraites to your companies and pay them in accordance to your labour laws and pay them their worth

5:28 he actually started hot. I love how he talked about people's zeal being dead. They were saying some of the "poor" side are being religious, they are actually acting like a lot religious people. You can't be talking about anything without any space for consideration of emotions. Many of us still have passion, personally I'm struggling to keep my passion alive everyday in this country. People have worked and struggled until they stop one day without knowing that they've even stopped because it's become so hard. 9:11 I'm poor right now, it's definitely not my choice. When it comes to begging, I can't even beg someone who owes me for my money. I don't like to have to ask for things, it's either I deserve it or I don't and in either case I feel it's on the person to do the right thing. I shouldn't have to beg for what is mine, same for what isn't mine, the owner will choose to give me 🤷🏾♀️. Some people have better mindset, yet they don't have much more than me either. They've forgotten that Nigeria steals the fire in many people's eyes.

Exactly. It's because of him I'm rethinking my stance that "poverty is a choice". If it was only red polo guy and black polo lady, I will not shake. Funny enough, I'm poor and because of Chris, I think I espouse that whole poverty is a choice axiom simply because I've not done as much work as he's most probably done only to end up with nothing to show for it. I'm still young. I have more years ahead of me. So I think I'll rather be humbler from henceforth. Poverty is a choice but not in all cases ❤

I disagree poverty is not a choice when people fail is because people make mistakes when they become poor so when people don't have a solution in life well they fail is because the system don't help and by the way in America there is some citizens in America don't have health care or some of them do not have insurance because they don't have the possibility to pay their rent and if they don't have any opportunities to pay their rent well they put them outside the streets if you don't pay your rent or any bills that will put you outside and you have nowhere else to go because it's not only an African thing where you see people in the streets or hustling so this is why people commit criminal activities because they don't have any solution in life because they come from the poorest area that don't get help 0:04

what i see here is privilege at full blown play. you can tell people to get up and do something, but don’t ever think the 100% reward for hardwork is success; it’s not! success is often a complex interplay of circumstances, opportunities, and sometimes sheer luck. we’ve seen it play out a lot; it’s as mundane as that classmate that won’t read as much as you’ve ‘diligently’ read in school, and still pass than you. some don’t even write as substantial as you. also, privilege isn’t just about money; it’s also about knowledge, exposure, accessibility, opportunities, ableism (this is one whole big conversation on its own). even to not have “poor mentality”, is also a privilege. many hardworking individuals face systemic barriers that make it challenging to translate their efforts into success, and this is practically what the speakers on the ‘poor’ end of the discussion are trying to tell you. and saying nigeria is an enabling environment, that’s a blatant dishonest statement. nigeria has dampened potentials more than you can ever think of. and the only thing that largely makes you different from these people is the said privilege; you need to go out there and see for yourself, how much nigerians are incredibly talented and potentially endowed but what stand between then and where they want to be is simply resources and opportunities. please go out and touch grass more, so you can be in tune with reality. societal conversations as this; your narrowed privileged position shouldn’t be the bar (measure of impact or influence), it only makes sense that the standards for judgment should reflect the 'average man’s reality’, or at least, the experiences of the most affected populations. deal with data, statistics; not personal anecdotes or isolated experiences. you can walk people through the path of success (at least, so that they can be as successful as you are), but you can’t separate these limiting factors in judging or deciding if they ‘choose to be poor’. ciao!

@@amourelove475 I dont think I was clear in what I had mean't, poverty will never be a choice I stand by that view. I will take myself for instance, I come from a family that is relatively not well off and next year I am planning to study at an Animation school to get my qualificatioon in 3D animation, but my family cannot afford to take me there. Now what I'm saying is instead of sitting and feeling pity for myself, I'm going to rather try and bag a scholarship or try and get a job to be able to afford the school. Basically I never chose to be poor, if my family could take me to the school they would. With that in mind though, I can find possible ways to take me out of this situation. Is it guaranteed that I will get this scholarship or job? Absolutely not, but the fact that I tried to find solutions to my problem is an indication that I am taking the steps to ensure I get further education on something I enjoy doing and that is what matters. I hope with this example I made it clear as to what I was trying to say and I hope you have a lovely week :)

Hi, I want to make a comment on what you said in the discussion about “equality in wealth”. From a glance it might seem appropriate to have everyone maintain an equal level of wealth but the idea is fundamentally flawed. Reason: 1. People do not put in the same amount of work and effort for them to be making the same thing as someone who does less. 2. People (by nature) tend to not want to put in the work when everything is handed to them (do you get where I’m going with this?) 3. When these two factors come into play, it’ll cause an imbalance and the crumble of a functioning society. The only thing that motivates people to work is a need to provide or survive and when this factor has been removed, society grinds to a halt. For instance, if you’re given answers to an exam, what’s the purpose of the examination? You’ll no longer see a reason to study. Same thing applies here. What should be given to people is equity (a fair chance to the less privileged to stand on their own feet through government programs and the likes) not equality. The only way the society you were talking about can work without crumbling is through government totalitarian power (where everyone’s work output is monitored) this takes away free will, privacy and freedom. Communism might seem innocent and humane on the surface but it’s way worse than capitalism. I’d advise to do some more research on this (preferably through twitter, google and most platforms are censored and manipulated) Capitalism >>> communism

Christopher and the man in the red t-shirt (Noah) were my faves. The lady in green was a bit insensitive and condescending, in my opinion.

Adeife has valid points but she came off as a bully sometimes especially when she was cutting some of the poor ppl off and even blatantly refusing to see things from other ppl's pov

Luck and Work go hand in hand, I’ve come to notice people often want to write off the place of luck in their success story and paint a picture where everything was a product of just being intentional, and that's a facade.

Bro just kept mentioning Firepips till it started sounding like a promotion video. 🤔 Was waiting for ADEIFE to use the “F” word and she didn’t disappoint 😂 😂, agreed with some of her takes except the last take on the existing Dichotomy between the rich and poor. (That’s her perspective though) I really enjoyed listening to the Chief speak 😂. Was dishing out unique perspectives on every prompt. Noah needs to work on his mindset. Christopher sounds like someone who’s been let down by the society and is really pained. These are just my opinions and do understand that everyone is entitled to his/her. Overall, it was a very informative and intriguing session.

Thanks to the organizers of this show, i have been leaning from the show lately. And kudos to the participants as well for their insightful responses to the prompts most especially the responses from the TEAM RICH, I Think they answered the prompts from their individualistic experiences not from society doctrines and normalcy that as pass on this generations. It would have been more good if the organizer ask the prompts relating to destiny like “is our destiny design by God or we have the power to make our own destiny?” Nonetheless the show has been very impactful, keep up the good work❤

Very interesting conversation. Poverty can be a choice, but I think it's a more complex situation. Circumstances of birth, exposure to opportunities, political factors etc matter. The guy whose friend didn't help him out when he needed money for his forex course is v understanding. Sometimes people are just cruel.

Life is always a paradox. Two contradictory truths can coexist side by side. There’s the internal locus of control and there’s the external locus of control. Grace is everything, yet personal hard work and mindset also plays a role. It’s a dicy thing. Yet I consider it quite insensitive for anyone to talks to the poor in a way that condescending
