Project Zomboid is currently the GOAT as far as survival games goes. In order for this one to even be in the same playing field, it's going to need to go beyond just looks and be just as immersive with... Literally everything (Debilitating Moodles, Auto mechanics, injury from careless movements, etc).

its VERY deep. I love playing State of Decay due to 3d action style, but Zomboid is just really more accurate to survival zombie stuff. SoD is painfully shallow to PZ except for the graphics which its isnt is that good

Project Zomboid is not really about the visuals. It’s about the immense depth of the game. A game that tries to beat it with better graphics alone will lose. That said, Project Zomboid has plenty of issues that some smart developers could easily beat. Yeah, this game is much smoother and has potential. Project Zomboid devs should be nervous.

I agree w you it doesn’t play a role in that stuff. it does help it run on old hardware but that’s not very useful in today’s age. I would agree with the second guy tho that the graphics don’t suck. It’s an intentional style choice that I actually find quite charming maybe for nostalgic memories of old school games. I also like rim world a lot and it has the similar issue of low quality graphics that stop some of my friends from playing. I feel like in the modern gaming age graphics are no longer impressive since it’s fairly simple to make a realistic styled game. It’s like saying a photograph is better than a painting because it’s more realistic.

@@Max-zr7hr Some valid points. I thought it was the same guy. My bad. IMO One of the things people often forget about indie titles is the budget. It takes a lot of man hours to create visually good games (not necessarily extremely skilled ones) but it is labor intensive. The so called "nostalgic" or "pixel" graphic style is much simpler/cheaper, allowing indie developers to express themselves which might have not been possible otherwise. My point being, I don't think it would hurt zomboid in any way if it had better graphics and those saying otherwise sound pretty much on pair saying it is better to fcuk 50+ year old women because they have more experience... Let's be real here 😂

Ill stick with Project Zomboid, especially for now. Way more fleshed out and in depth mechanics and great mod support. I don't mind the graphics at all and even think it gives it a sort of charm. This just seems too basic.

Runescape taught us this when wow, was coming down from its peak player base as the cataclysm expansion overhauled and "improved" game assets. minecraft taught us this too. battlebit and polygon also showcase that an art style is way better than just pretty graphics, for more modern games following the trend.

I agree, games with more fleshed out features are always better, but to say polygon based games like battle bit taught us anything is absurd. The best example of an think of is legend of zelda 2 games in specific. Legend of zelda the windwaker and legend of zelda tears of the kingdom are both games that can look absolutely beautiful but can run on low end systems. I've been keeping an eye on this for awhile and i hope they do it right, but for now, zomboid is king. No other game I've played in the last 40yrs effortlessly tells a different story every playthrough. The amount of times i was dumbfounded at what just transpired in the first hour of a playthrough to the point all i could do is laugh at myself for the ridiculous decisions i made, and the hilarious outcome of those choices.

The only question is if it will be as good as PZ. 0:21 Just fyi- This "topdown view" is called an Isometric perspective - which means that you are essentially viewing a 3D model in a 2 dimensions. Feels like I need to share this, because many people don't know about this.. not like it's needed, though.

Idk, this game has much less opportunities and details wich are present in PZ currently, and PZ's world and objects in it are more interactable than in HumanitZ There's no electricity and water shutoff, -1 realistic feature PZ has rn as well There are no sandbox options as well, unlike in zomboid, wich has tons of settings you are able to change and modify in sandbox mode. Also, it might be harder to make some map modw for HumanitZ, as it's not made like zomboid: PZ's maps consist of literally... tiles, wich are easy to place as you want, and made a building, then a whole city. Simole as lego is. But in this game, there are only 3D models, and it means that the mappers should know how to work in blender very well to make a single building, unlike zomboid's mappers who just have to draw custom tiles as usual or use the vanilla ones and place then like lego to make a map easily, no blender skills needed. => Modding is easier in PZ The world in HumanitZ is partly overgrown, with some erosion on the roads sometimes be seen, even though the game run has JUST started... It doesn't feel like you live through the initial outbreak, and the nature starts to take control over the abandoned city as the time passes. Meanwhile, in PZ, the erosion and the plant overgrowth isn't even at 10% when you just start your savegame. => Zonboid's world much more dynamic, showing you how thr world changes as it "ages". Yet another disadvantage of humanitZ.. So, it's t waaaaay too basic for it to be a "Project zomboid 2" And they literally didn't change the game for a long time already anyhow 💀

Project Zomboid is way ahead of this game with its in-depth mechanics, every building is accessible making looting so much more fun. The mod community has also made an amazing job and it’s unless the amount of things you can do in Zomboid or customise. I have personally clocked in over 2000hours on the game and still going.

I played this game for about two hours the other day and the interesting thing is you go through an early part of the game where we only see a few but once you go into town you start to get overwhelmed and there’s a lot of crafting opportunities A very detailed deep game I’m having a ton of fun with it

Yeah PZ came out over a decade ago and got slowly updated quietly for its entire lifespan. Almost no one was playing it, the developers had removed a lot of elements they promised to add back, and it was a shell of its former shelf. Then…. Boom, Build 41 comes out and just by loyal fans alone, it became popular from people recording their play throughs and saying, “holy shit, that’s detailed, what is that?” Now they have thousands upon thousands of loyal fans, clever modders, and promised updates. My point is we’re already playing PZ2 and this game is going to the zombie game hall of fame for being one of the most thoughtful survival games out there.

Found this vid as a random KZbin suggestion and thought I'd have a look! Not a bad looking game thus far but I'd say this is probably more various zombie survival game influences in the style of Dysmantle than specifically DayZ / Project Zomboid, it's got more of an ARPG or State Of Decay type action than the simulation style of PZ. If I'm honest though you / they lost me right at the start when it's billed as a multiplayer game, that's just an instant turn off for me these days. Maybe they'll add some single player content down the line if it doesn't already have some.

my problem with this game is how car parts break down easily. within a day i have to gather 4 car parts otherwise it will not run while scavenging for materials and most of the time i ended up looking for car parts more than scavenging for materials

Slightly nicer graphic than PZ, but other then that, it's missing almost everything else the PZ has in it, and especially when you also consider the mods that PZ also has that make it even better. Where's the dash in the vehicles with the headlights switch, and the stereo that actually plays CDs and or tapes you collect around the world, and the other seats in the vehicle that are also added storage, and the glovebox to store and find stuff in, and the AC and heater to help fix your temperature, and all of the many mechanics and repairs and towing and everything there is to a vehicle that you can think of that would be cool in these games??? Are there washers and dryers that have settings and dials that you set to wash and dry clothing? Can you set the alarms on watches and alarm clocks? Can you adjust the settings on the stoves and microwaves for when you are cooking? There are TONS of these very detailed features in PZ, that I don't see at all in this game. The very basic general idea of the view and the character and the zombie theme are the same, but there's maybe only about 2% of the features from PZ that make PZ what it is, that are in this one unfortunately... For me, I look at this and think "If I'm going to play this type of game, it's gonna be PZ for sure, instead of spending money on a very basic clone of PZ..." Thanks for the video though.

I fear that this game will be extremely shallow in comparison to PZ. I've played PZ since... can't even remember, it's got to be about a decade; when EVERY melee weapon was a baseball graphic, regardless of whether it was an axe or a golf club, and when there was an option of different camera angles, no smooth lighting, and the devs were trying all sorts of things. Having played it for this long I've seen it morph into this absolutely fantastic game and it still baffles me to this day at how thoughtful the devs have been in creating it. The level of detail they go into and the things they think of that other games just gloss over. Occasionally you'll try something on there and be like '... I can't believe they've thought of that, that's so cool...'. Incredible game and incredible dev team. I don't think they've got to worry about the competition for years. The new games will miss the entire point of PZ.

It’s easy to compare it to Project Zomboid, but really, what makes us think so? They are same game genre sure, as Dayz is it. All of them are different games 100%.. So what we want? A survival simulator? Ai bandits checking to wipe your *ss? humanitZ is far from being as indepth as zomboid. they have pretty assets, but thats about it. and minecraft has taught me that art style > pretty graphics, long long ago. (although some zomboid assets will improve in build 42, including better outlines, smoother animations, redone tile assets, and especially Fire; will get the hugest visual overhaul, along with fire spread overhaul)
