I have a Primo XL400 with a Smobot smart controller and it's perfect. Have used it for a few years now, really hard to beat the combination!

That's a great price. It's nice to see it commercialized in that package. It has little to do with AI, folks have been doing this with a PID controller, K thermocouple and computer fans for years. I built one 14-15 years ago. I'd like to re-do it with a Raspberry PI and a web app.

I remeber it used to be like 2.99 a lb not that long ago. Now it is at premium steak prices

Anyone else think that he opened the top dampers a little too much? I use an automated blower with my BGE and barely have them open.

On my s1 doesn't have a spring. It's threaded with the wing nut and washer

Like anything in life, If you undrstand what you are doing, you don't need "gadgets" to get results.

Has the app been updated to correct the problems you noted in your prior ChefsTemp review?

I didn't experience any issues with the app on this cook at all, so I guess they have.

I'm right there with you, but I think its safe to say they nowadays we're in the minority, thanks to pellet grills. I get why some people don't want to deal with managing fires and such. My thing is as long as they're outside cooking for friends and family, it doesn't matter.
