I love Russ, but "logically"? That bullshit "both-sides"ism that equated spreading deadly medical disinformation that's killed millions with creating a name for a profession that isn't inherently discriminatory (BTW, "female fishermen" are just called "fishers", as all other fishers are also called, based on the fact that they, y'know, fish)? That's "logic" to you? Russell's funny, but he's not as bright a political analyst as he thinks he is.

Why, an interview is pointless, comedians & musicians go on to promote their work by b performing, it's only actors & authors that go talk because they can't obtusely do anything, other than site a clip & talk about it. Do you expect them to stand up & perform the scene from b the film, it do a 5 min one man show? Musicians & comedians performances are done to attract the audience v to their live show bit but the album/watch the special is they like it Also, like Stephen decides on the guest

@Jedii Kniight American comedians fall too easily into talking about their race, dating, and sex. Sometimes I almost feel a computer could write 50% of the average American comedian's routine. It sounds like this: _“Hey wow! Great to be here! What a great-looking audience! Yeah! I love this city, I love New York. It's a great place to be... white._ [laughs] _I'm white, spoilers,_ [laughs] _as you may have noticed._ [claps] _Some of you are there like, ‘yay white!”_ [laughs] _and yeah I love New York because people here say what they think. It's great. I dated this girl from New York, gorgeous, great body, and she was like, you know what I like about you? You're not like the other guys. And I was like aw thanks! You too! Then she said, Other guy's care so much about how they look. And I was like... I don't like where this is going._ [laughs] _I said, what do you mean? And she was like, other white guys, you know, they try so hard to look cool, but you're just comfortable being white. And I was like, yeah OK. You're hot. I'll take it._ ” [laughs] You get the idea. It practically writes itself.

Competent people are going to do better, aren't they? For every great female leader like Jacinda Ardern there's a through-and-through corrupt one like Christina de Kirchner. I just wish every country that has only ever had cis, straight male heads of government gets a Jacinda Ardern of their own to break the mold and set the tone for a future where people of any gender get to that position based on competence, and not expectations over what a national leader 'should' look like.

Aunty Cindy has done a very good job of suppressing covid in nz, but there has been a trade-off with many ppl suffering financially and feeling oppressed and depressed. It seems these two issues hv gone hand-in-hand and we hv to be careful we don't destroy people's spirit just to protect some clapped-out bodies. Maybe those who are physically at serious risk (10%?) should hide, isolate, N95 mask-up and restrict _themselves_, instead of 100% of everyone doing it.

He also made a joke about the queen impersonating a stamp that has free rent in my mind now too. Glad to see you on Stevens show! I'm so happy that Russell's wisdom and energy is reaching America, and I'm simply in awe of this new set of his. Absolute poetry, and hilarious at the same time. Without sounding too pompous, I want to imagine how people like this (and I could name so many more) were sometimes called "prophets" in ancient times, speaking truth to power and not taking any shit. And not pretending they're perfect or flawless or all-knowing, even while laying down utter truth-bombs -- the only kind of bomb any human should be OK with, incidentally. We have to be more like prophets, all of us, each of us.
