Got a new unit today and can confirm that the problem persists. So this is 100% a firmware issue with communication between AX routers and the headset. With the 6e though it fluxing down to a minimum of 1720 Mbps so there you can't notice it untill you look at the preformence stats. But still a huge problem as most users don't have a wifi6e network. Virtual Desktop has reported the bug to meta, but still remember to submit a bug report to meta. The more people do this the more they will focus on the issue.

Was hoping to stream some gameplay today from the Quest3. As i was getting ready to start the Mbps droped to 312 Mbps (On Wifi6e 6Ghz)... it's like it's getting worse. 😓... Switch back to Quest 2 for the rest of the stream. No problems. It sucks because when it works it's amazing but useless unless it's stable

Thanks for the feedback! I initially intended to purchase a WiFi 6e router. I still have a WiFi 5 router on the first floor. This also should work according to the specs by the way. Connection is also unstable when using the Q3 and with the Q2 I had no problems with this at all. By the way, I also noticed a dead pixel in my unit. I'm probably going to return this. Normally I am not an early adapter. Apparently my expectations were set a little too high. Nevertheless, the product should work just fine. You already pay enough for it ;-). Update: I have returned my unit and received my money back. Also tested the Q3 on the wifi 6 mainrouter in the livingroom with same result. Not stable at the moment. Hope they can fix this soon :-)

Hello thanks for this great video, I'm experiencing lots of issues with Quest 3 Airlink too, and because Wifi 6e routers are very expensive, wanted to double check that it will worth it. Is the issue resolved when using 6GHz band? do you still gave dropping frames? I see in the stats your are using the 5GHz band. Thank you!

Unfortunately, right now, it's very unstable. Sometimes, i get a good connection for 30 min, and then it can drop dramatically to 320 Mbps. Honestly, wait for an update.

im confused on what the issue is.. why would you need more then 2000mbps... games run perfect on like 500.... why is this an issue?

You need around 800 for okey wireless PCVR, but then you will have alot of compression. 1200 will give you grate quality. But the biggest issue is stability. It's hard for VD or Airlink to estimate the best compression if your signal is fluxing. The Quest3 should support 6G (or 160Hz 5G) at a bace line of 2401 Mbps giving you a lot of rom for interference and congestion. But right now there is a known bug on the quest effecting som AXE and AX routers. There are alot more newer updates on the cannel on the issue.

dude please help me i just tried factory resetting my headset and now it wont connect to wifi at all its completely unusable, it says check password and try again i've tried everything support said and nothing worked, its off of my meta quest mobile app so i can't fix it there, its stuck on the wifi screen, there was 2 or 3options for setting up wifi and i chose the one where you type it inside the headset itself, and now i can't go back, I think its broken, i really need help, this problem seems unfixable,

That's rough. Your Meta app should be connected via Bluetooth. If factory reset is not working, this seams like an obvious defect unit. More commen then you would think. Return it and get a replacement.

@@MrTeeF yea once factory reset it then it disappeared off my app i also had problems with connecting to sidequest, where it would say pc can't recognize device and would not let me connect no matter what, the frist time i factory reset it, it was weird and the screen turned black and the fans kicked on full blast, nothing worked in that state it seemed bricked, i held the reset button for like 30seconds and it reset to normal but still stuck on the first screen.

Wait a second.... why would anything above 1gbs ( 1000mbps ) be beneficial at all when your pc / router / cat cable most likely have a 1gb switch.. so the network is 2400mb but your pc to your router hardwired is most likely limited to 1000mbs... ideas? Am I not understanding aomething

That is a question for the wizards at VD and Airlink. My guess is bottlenecks and not all information is direcly between the PC and Headset. All i know is that a Quest 2 with a rock solid 1200 Mbps is butter smooth.

my quest 3 doesnt want to connect to 6ghz whatever i do and when it rarely sees 6ghz its doesnt want to connect and yesterday it obtained ip and connected then right away it disconnects .this is happening to my quest 3 since v65 and ive been talking to quest and they have no idea whats going on and apparently they dont know how to fix it!!!

Hey everyone, this is a video in a series about a connectivity issue I've been having. With the latest update of v.60 as per January 15th it looks like software issues are improved again. Where I before could not get a full signal even inches from the router, it now shows 2401/2401 Mbps at 1 foot from the router. (Occasionally dropping to 2100 but generally stable). Unfortunately moving back 3 meters to my desk, it drops to 1900. So at that point, I feared it was no longer faulty software, but as people have pointed out... poor design and antenna placement. But(!) Luckily Meta refuted this claim that it's just hardware and said they are still working on the issue on the software side. Se community post for more. Yes, this is also a common problem. There is probably nothing wrong with your router, but still send a report to Asus Support so that they get aware and can pressure Meta. Also, send a bug report to Meta via report a problem in the headset. Let's hope Meta will address it soon.

@@MrTeeF Please tell me, since you also have the same router, quest 3 when you want to use the 6GHz band? This network is not visible at all for me, and I caught it only a few times, and then the strong and stable connection lasted up to several minutes. After this time, the network disappears from the list and you can no longer select it to connect to it. I did exactly as you said - I reported the problem with connecting via Quest 3 to Meta and contacted Asus, where I sent them the entire log from the router and told them in detail about the situation. What's interesting about all this for me is that the few times the 6GHz network was connected to quest 3, it was perfectly stable, its signal was strong and the speeds were around 1400Mbps. And in a moment, suddenly, there's a snap and the network is gone.

Hi, thanks for sharing. One thing in general: Is that kind of bandwith not more than enough? I mean, virtual desktop is streaming it to my Quest 3 with AV1 10-Bit with max 200 Mbps. You could push that numbers, but you won't exceed 1000mbps, I guess. I am on a Wi-Fi 6 Router (FRITZ!Box 7530 AX) 5 Ghz and my bandwidth is fluctuating as well. But my main problem is "Networking" Latency. It's ok most of the time, but it is often skyrocketing in the area of 150+ ms making it unplayable. Thought I might get the TP-Link Archer AXE75 to solve that issue.

VirtualDesktop recommends a minimum of 800 Mbps. You can probably run it at 200 but not without alot of compression and low frame rates. But you'll get good quality on 1200 Mbps on Quest2 as long as it's stable. But as long as the signal is unstable it's hard to gate an experience without latency drops. 2400 Mbps on 90 Hz and Good like quality on VD is amazing... when it works. 😉

With WiFi 6e 2401 Mgb there is not much difference I recommend disabling video Buffering You will see a small improvement

I made the return axe5400 since I didn't get any improvement. Seeing the inconveniences you have, it only remains to recommend you to try your oculus 3 at another friend's house who has WiFi 6

It's built into VirtualDesktop. Go to settings > streaming, and it's a checkbox for preformence overlay in the lower right side.

In your video Virtual desktop showed that the Wi-Fi network the headset was on was 5Ghz not 6GHz (WiFi 6E) in the debug menu like it should be if you're playing on a Wi-Fi 6E router??? Is that's the case I think the stutters are just user error because you're not even using it on 6ghz like you should be. Unless Virtual desktop is lying but I doubt that. If you didn't set up the Wi-Fi router properly and didn't connect the headset to the 6GHz network then this video is just misinformation.

so far, 5GHz Wifi 6 is still good enough for me with AC via PCVR and VD or Steamlink... VD is much more stable than Steamlink

@@MrTeeF I was contemplating whether or not to implement a 6e WAP, but I don’t need it now… WiFi coverage pretty solid throughout… and I can play MQ3 upstairs and downstairs. Just sucks META removed support to cast to chromecast on v60. Right now, only secondary accounts cast to chromecast, and that’ll be removed in the near future. Currently, you can only cast via App on mobile device (super laggy) or web browser (super laggy). So they removed the party feature of the unit… ☹️

@@andyakarudolfhessiansack7936 the quest picks up the wifi signal from the router not the pc, the pc doesnt need wifi on it, it just needs to be connected to the router, a pc ethernet to router cable always gives a better signal than standalone wifi, at least for now, if your router pumps out 6e then the quest can take it but at the moment you only really need a wifi 6

The performance of the VR game is dependent on your PC specs. That can vary depending on what game you want to run. Check the recommended specs there.... Streaming to your headset is dependent on your network speed, which is the topic of this video... i have not tested a wifi7 ruter.

Same issue here. Asus Wi-Fi 6 router is totally unusable. Meta support told me to factory reset the headset. Has anyone tried this, I really don't fancy downloading all my games again for no reason.
