Is Rappelz Worth Your Time in 2024? MMORPG First Look & Review

Back in the days (epic 4 patch) you wouldn't even survive soloing in the first room of any dungeon... and some dungeons has powerful mobs guarding the path to the entrance (crystal tower, for example). It was supposed to be a mmo heavily community-based, doing parties to go into the dungeons was the best thing and also guild wars during the weekends... I guess they had to recalibrate the game in order to make it possible for players to play alone since the numbers of active players has dropped to almost zero, but what people is playing now has nothing to do with the game Rappelz was before!

The game was much better when it was community based, though that had its faults as well (tons of bugs with slow implementation of fixes, over reliance on high level pets as a crutch, etc.). The current “streamlining” removed much of the incentive to learn the game and caters exclusively to veterans of it because that’s all that’s left. This would be a fun game if it were remade and modernized, but there isn’t much point to invest in it when all’s that left is maybe a few thousand players at most.

LF HPDP/Hawk22+3/SS Ah man good memories. Dungeonpartys were so cool when we finally found a sport, everyone popped their SS and kept clapping mobs for an hour straight. Wish there were populated old school private servers without Soultaming.

Thanks for the great video my friend! 🍀 I used to play with a few buddies back in 2008 and we had a lot of fun leveling up, going to dungeons and partying with random people. No doubt that the game is dead and it appears that they are not planning to upgrade it in any way to smoothen the experience or even populate the servers. Honestly, I love this game but sadly it hasn't made any progress throughout the years. Good times, and thanks for the memories Rappelz.

Thank you for this video, I really enjoyed it. I know Rappelz since 2009. I might know it for 15 years, but I was never able to achieve an end-game character. So I was never able to participate in guild wars etc. Back then, I was simply playing it for the people in the game. We would kill ''thirty'' of everything and have fun while chatting :D Nowadays though, if I download it and play, it would be for the sake of the memories. You could say it feels home since it is my childhood game. The things you complain about weren't in game like quest bugs or unusable cp. These things happened because we dont need them anymore or they couldnt deal with it an issue so they fix it like this... I remember creating a party for anatema lol, Loved your reaction there. Everything you say is true btw, after these newcomer benefits end you might as well delete your character if you dont pay for those things. Again, thanks for the video, even though I couldn't accomplish anything, it is still my childhood game :D

@seyit__ You and me both pal. We had the exact same experience with this game😅. Once in awhile, I come back and see videos of Rappelz to remember the good ol’ days, since it also was my childhood game that I enjoyed so much simply because of the friends I made along the way while grinding and killing thousands of monsters and bosses, quests, guilds, pet system, classes, the amazing graphics and gameplay at the time. But I didn’t reach end game though…well because it was a p2w game after all, and at some point you just couldn’t move up unless you pay But still I enjoyed every moment in it, glad to see someone else had the experience as I did.

lmao I was doing the same, I was 9yo when started playing rappelz in 2011, mostly just talking with people and having fun, used to sit with everybody on the bridge in horizon and ask if they wanna join my group/be friends :D Loved farming with people in Arid II

Have played since 2007.. so funny to see your analysis. I enjoyed it. From a new players perspective you are right. End game content is just grind. But there are some excellent people in the game.

Not just end game content bro. Rappelz is grind from start to finish. The very second you get off of Trainee Island let the hour long zombie grind begin.

It used to be you could level your jlvl in the same time as your regular meaning your job change would be at 50 of you played your cards right and it sucks that they limit you now.

@@SylvieOnline yep basically you'd have to actively choose between doing a jlvl or getting a new skill before so hitting those break points was more worthwhile. Hell Jobs capped out a jlvl 50 up till Master Class (regular lvl 150)

3:20 Bro, the game is perfect in terms of balance, though it was heavily screwed by the donation system and old players who boost characters through pets and accessories and consumables, so now the management decided to give all newbies enforcing shit so that the anathema is easy to do solo. A stupid solution to allow anyone speedrun to level 100 in a day, because there is no content going after that

I used to go to the end of a dungeon, aggro the boss and walk him through the whole dungeon killing everyone farming. The 2000's were a special time. Just googled to see whatever happened to the game. I was one of the top levels in the game at the time and quit due to being unable to ever find a healer for groups.

I used to be one of the best deadeyes in this game... And yes it giga p2w but there is private servers that gives you everything and you focus on pvp.. The fighting style in this game is unique and it requires skills

Back in… 2010 prob, i didnt know shit about dungeons and was leveling up only through quests… no tutorials were read, that was fun, it was a bit less than a dungeon grinding and Hard and i chose Dark magician as well

Yeah, but I'm not the biggest fan of that either, as people buying cash shop items and selling them for in-game money is just buying gold with extra steps. It's better than there being no way for F2P players to get it, but still.

Yeah this game totally just ignores the new player experience. I ended up finding a pretty good way of playing it by rushing through early game to lvl 70, then doing the witch quest line, which takes you up to lvl 110. From there is pretty doable to keep taking different quest lines with pretty minimal grinding up to close to 150. After masterclass is when it becomes truly insanely pay to win, and its just not fun to play unless you spend insane amounts. Highest I ever got was like 169 or something. There is a private server called gambit that focuses on making the endgame more accessible, where you can get to lvl 150 in like an hour, and then the real game begins after that. I never put much time into it, but I'd say playing the main game with minimal money investment up to masterclass, and then playing gambit would be the best way of playing it in 2024. Very cool video, this game will always be super nostalgic to me regardless of how pay2win it is

This is NOT how Rappelz was originally! Back in the days it was harder to kill the mobs, and the questdesign was much different...and you usually just had to kill 5 to 12 mobs or so to complete a quest. The game is now only a shadow of what it once had been 😢

This game would kill it with a complete remake with leaving out all the things that made it the trashcan it is now there has never been a MMO with such a awesome Pet System. I remember doing the Witch Quest for the very first time and it actually took skill , GMs raiding at Hori Bridge/Field . Tpro (Taming Protection) killed this game. That's really when everything started going down hill . Bahamut Server forever

You did everything wrong. You can get to level 160 in about 1 and a half to 2 hours and you missed SO much. That being said, it's true the game is dead so it's nowhere near as fun as it used to be.

game sucks now, i logged in after 10 years to see that pet classes rules the game. All other classes are so irrelevant. The only way to level up by paying someone to power lv you. There are no real resources in this game so its hard to farm for money. Pets use to be worth money! even the empty cards. Now they are worth nothing. Game went downhill when powercreep took over the game and paying cash shop to become stronger.

And this is the answer to your question, you play in Official you will need to get a mortgage loan to even try to catch up with current players, there is no point going Official. There are private servers that are more active than official servers.
