RottenTomatoes just showed that less than 25% of the critics that saw Rebel Moon part 1 liked it and when even you guys say that you didn't care about any of the characters, that it has massive problems throughout and it was just middle of the road you can't then as a true critic give the movie a fresh score or recommend it to other people. After all Zack Snyder isn't a new director in Hollywood and insists on repeating the same mistakes for over a decade that has made him so polarizing as a writer/director and the director with the worst box office track record in the DCEU even though he was given the most freedom from Warner Bros. People have gotten tired of the tons of unnecessary slow motion, the same dark color palettes, weak written characters, his movies shot entirely on a soundstage and plots that have huge gaping holes in them. No other big time director EVER had to release three director's cuts in a row for their big budget movies. Yet Snyder had to release one with Batman v Superman, Justice League and now Rebel Moon. Not to mention he was also basically forced to do a director's cut for Watchmen because the theatrical version also didn't perform very well and is still very divisive among people who saw it

Zack Synder does seem to have an infinate amount of "get out of jail free" cards on him at all times. I think he's a talented directed in certain aspect of movie making. Visually he's one of the best to do it. He's left a mark in the age of comic book movies that's hard to deny. However he has a difficult time with storytelling. And unfortunately for him, storytelling will always be the most important factor of movie.

All you have said is ignorant. RT are proven to be paid. Critics have an agenda against Snyder. His DCEU movies were the highest grossing ones😂 tf you talking about? Go do research and stop being a dumb hater.

So here is my understanding of the Directors Cut. Snyder filmed a R rated original cut for Netflix, as the main cut of the film. Then Netflix told Synder the film needs to be PG13 and it needs to be cut shorter. Synder has directly said he had to go to the Netflix editors and cut a HUGE chunk of the story out. & after he did that he himself was not happy with the finished product, and did not want to release it, he told Netflix "you cut out all the character development, all the story arcs, it's NOT my film, it's NOT the same film, it's not what I wanted to put out" He convinced Netflix, that after the release of the original film, they would let him release a directors cut. I wonder will we see that before or after part 2, and is there also going to be a directors cut of part 2? Not a Snyder loyalist in any way, but enjoy his style and vision in some of his films. This was cool, interesting, and I will watch part 2, and would be very interested in seeing the directors cut of part 1 & or 2 when they release.

Part 1 feels woefully incomplete. It wouldn't surprise me at all to have directors cuts for parts 1 and 2. The Snyder cut is almost a brand in of itself now. It would make a great opportunity for Netflix to get more milage out of the property.

@@SyntellI heard the opposite of what this person’s comment says. *Snyder* intentionally made the cut with idea that it would need to be PG-13. Netflix told him after seeing it effectively “uhhh so is there more to this?” and he put everything back in for a “director’s cut” so they can rerelease later. *Netflix* didn’t have a problem with his R rated Army of the Dead; why would they have a problem with an R-rated cut of this?
@sibusisogumede94
@sibusisogumede94 5 ай бұрын
@@deanthemachine7489 that's also not true, Zack has said it many times in interviews that it was Netflix's idea to release a PG-13 cut first. Zack originally wanted to release the R rated cut first but agreed with their idea because he would still get his intended cut released either way and because of the amount of money and advertising this movie got. Netflix is trying to capitalize on the #SnyderCut and trying to reach general audience with the more compromised PG-13 cut. James Cameron and Dennis Villeneuve talked about using streaming services like this. Netflix is just trying to release more content like any other streaming service and streaming services don't care about Reviews only viewership and currently the Movie is number 1 in over 80 countries so they strategy seems to be working.

Finally figured out why I couldn't get into "Rebel Moon" after watching "Society of the Snow" (BTW, thank you for the recommendation in your Shorts clip). I couldn't connect to or have empathy for any of the characters. Don't get me wrong, the "Rebel Moon" actors were good for the material they were given. Maybe too many slow action sequences. (In "The Matrix" where Neo is dodging bullets from Smith, THAT is an example of using slow motion minimally with a lasting impression.) A lot of the scenes reminded me of multiple different movies. I don't remember any of the characters' names. It didn't invoke any feelings. Now, "Society of the Snow", THAT had me emotionally connected to the people and their situation. I remember their names. The cinematography was amazing. The events that happened had me empatheticaly have a plethora of emotions throughout the entire movie. Both films were over 2 hours. Both have multiple characters and narrators to give more context. But the emotion stirring was a vastly different matter altogether. Maybe it's unfair to compare a futuristic dystopian setting with a historical event setting. I really tried to like Rebel. I didn't have to try to like Society.

Definitely agree with most of the critique here. The movie is fine. It’s not good, but not awful. It kinda just exists. I immediately just wanted to watch Seven Samurai after, which is a far better version. I’ll watch part 2 just to see what happens. Might even watch the 4 hour rated R cut he and Netflix already announced he’s releasing. Apparently, it’s a completely different movie. The thing with engaging with Rotten Tomatoes is knowing how it works. The percentage is the percentage of reviewers that consider it good. You get the average score by clicking on the percentage. Rebel Moon’s is currently at a 4.2, which feels accurate.

I've come to see Sofia Boutella's performance anyway. Part 1: A Child of Fire 🔥, has flaws. But over all, I still enjoyed what Zack Snyder was aiming for. I wish 🤞, that Zack gave us more on each character's arcs. Whether he borrowed from Star Wars or not, it is pretty challenging to produce original content when it comes to these types of shows that has been displayed throughout the years. I hope when Part 2: The Scargiver , comes out April 19, 2024 that it will explain more about the world that Zack Snyder envision.

(Edt:..forgive my lap keys flunking out..throwing me way off) thank you for the funny vid commentary my guys. it's a franchise ignition...there are unavoidable commer(e)ce related sacrifices, due to the ever fluctuating tech-based market avant rules needed to be conformed to in(to) this making of here. desiring to be fair, please...take into account the number of, and their level of, artistic talents who assisted lucas in rendering the original '77 Star Wars trilogoy in what we referrence back to today...it has gone down in cine-history as the 1st and greatest cine-franchise.. .and, likewise, contemplate jus(t) as many opposing similarities...such as in which installment did we learn that vader was Luke's father?...and that Leia in turn was Luke's sister?..and..and...and (so on)? "roshomon" was based on 2 pre-existing novellas and, even moreso applicably here, so was 'seven samurai" based upon very (VERY!) similar folklore....let 'similarities' or 'influence' be whatever one wishes to call it it.. ..and oh, hey, look..."7... ..samurai" has a 207mins runtime..?...ye?..do not say, aye? this is the 1st snyder production, excluding "300" and "watchmen", which has contained this level of excessive expository dialogue AND the over use of slo-mo.. ..zack was both damned and commended for staying true to miller's "300" source, whic,..was LACONIC to begin with, my dudes... ..and his accurate to the expose-centric "watchmen" was written by Moore...moore is not a tomthumb babble KING.. ..king, now on gun's writing team for "supes: legacy" and "woman of tomorrow".?..goodGOD, in exact opposition to king's jibberish, moore's exposes gave added detail/data NOT found in gibbons' panels. (ye, "supes: legacy" and " woman of tomorrow" will bellyflop...hArd!). the zack excess in slo-m0 has always been a complaint that's (been) blown way out of proportion to begin with although, here, it is noticably more yet, even here his slo-mo is used mainly in battle sequences which would otherwise fly by at too fast a rate to follow whether or not snyder incorporated true choreography...if need to, put it at 1/4 speed and you will see that he, indeed, so did. huh?..oh, yes, this is utube and...am already rambling?...well, ok, am terribly sorry so...let's end with.. ..as top streamer, ntflx cannot (currently) dive head 1st into fully funding grandscale cinematic productions without sabotaging their own utmost successful business model...especially not this, their possible franchise starter, in it's full 3+(+?)hr duration AND surely not in it's intended R-rating.. ..moreso, particularly not for a Ltd. cinema release. if so doing they'd sacrifice the broader spectrum's appeal to casual and, legally at least, younger vewrrships. "army of the dead"?..r-rated?..it's a zombie film so, of course...and with it's larger genre scale has, as of yet, still eclipsed initial "RM" vewerships. ..although.. .."ZSJL" was completed for a totally different purpose and under different circum$tance$...and hbo servers crashed globally upon it's release.. ..however.. ?....?hmm?.. ..oh ye, ok..uhmmm.. ..tbc in next post..

@wakanda...take a closer look, (read?), and you'll see why, "return of the jedi" was a wAy better installment, in terms story/plot-wise, than "the empire strike's back"...as was the original "aliens" a thematically wAyyy scarier story than the action packed "aliens 2" and, via same reasoning, so again was "spider-man 1" a far better story than "spider-man 2"...sequels were/are usually buffed upped with more action for the oncoming crowd...but.. .. do...NOT...tell me there was ever a more fearsome antagonist than arnie's original "the terminator" unwitting villanous machine that i saw saw on bigscreen while holding onto the edge of my seat back in '84.

This movie was so poor on characters and plot. The action scenes felt like I was watching Mortal Combat. Just a bunch of one on one duels. I’ve heard the novelization has more about the characters and plot. It makes he hopefully the director’s cut might help it. As it is it’s one of the worst sci-fi movies in recent times

To me it was an excellent movie. You could see that it was cut in some places and of course since i liked it i wanted more. All people want to blame on Snyder is actually the fault of Netflix, because they demanded the cut version and Synder is just fulfilling the contract. They probably wanted to make money off the release of the Snyder cut, AND Snyder wanted gis right to his own version. Thats just business, whther you like it or not. And saying otherwise is just straight up being dishonest. The actors did a great job. You cannotnsay that they didnt play their characters well. The design reminded of Star Wars but thats also what Snyder wanted so it was I INTENTIONALLY made to pay tribute to not only star wars but to other movies and fictional worlds. Using this as a complaining argument is being dishonest and stupid, to me personally. The director himself said this world is its own, but A LOT of it is paying tribute to what shaped his vision for the creation of this one. Overall the design of the world was amazing. You cannot say the world building and world design was bad, you just cannot. It surpassed the character design of Star Wars by a long shot. The characters did not have time to develop, youre right on that. But they gave just enough to awaken interest as to who they were before they became who we see now. I cannot wait for part 2 for that aspect. Symbolism in the movie went over most of the nerd crowds head, but to be expected as well. There are thousands of movies "the nerds" love that remind of other, better movies but we do not hear that complaint. And we do all know the reason why. This isnt a jab at you guys but the blatant misogynistic bias that the nerds are expressing towards this movie and are attempting to cover as general criticism is clear for anybody with eyes and ears to see and hear. And I'm tired of acting like that is not what is happening. The majority of the criticism of this movie is for views and trolling and peior bias towards rhe director. Everybody can see that.
