Is Salmonid Smokeyard the NEW Worst Salmon Run Stage?

Egg throws have certainly improved this stage. The only bad thing is that the basket can get over run with steel eels.

I actually like Smokeyard and it's way better than Marooner's Bay and Spawning Grounds even in Splatoon 2, the additions in Splatoon 3 just make the map even better with egg throwing and a Fishstick location that's in between the two halves allowing easier movement between them. Also something that people don't seem to realise is that the two grates on the upper areas are designed so that if the propeller platform is fully out you can jump to it from the grates instead of waiting for them to return

I just hate that high tide forces us on the small area with little to no escape. If you’re not on the side with the propellors, you’re dead. Especially when there’s two fly fish on the other island. It definitely has a different and interesting experience though.

I feel that “New” is kind of a stretch, but I get it in the sense of S3. I wasn’t happy with it making a return because I didn’t like it in S2 and players had a tendency of leaving me behind as I hop on the propellor platform, making me drown, but surprisingly, I rarely had that problem in S3. Idk if it’s because Junction preparing me beforehand (I love that map and adapted to it very quickly while everyone else kept getting knocked off or falling off) or if my Salmon Running skills got better. I’m glad we can throw eggs in this game because it made the egg collecting way easier and faster. Not my fave map, but I like it WAY more than Marooner’s.

Mariners bay also make me not play salmon run, but HEL GROUNDS “spawning grounds” is directly behind it

depsite being an objectively bad map, i always liked smokeyard quite a lot, even in splatoon 2. something about it is just really fun to me. and no this is not an opinion coming from an unexperienced player, i have 999 on all 3 of the newer splatoon 3 maps.
