Saying height is the most overrated thing in bodybuilding, it's what's wrong with bodybuilding. Height creates the superhero appearance. The short dudes generally look like they should be in another bracket or division, like when Columbu kept losing to Arnold etc. - different look, different set of criteria. Having short dudes up there isn't cool, really. Takes away from the taller, more complete guys. 5'8" should be the cut off, and I really would prefer 5'9" or 5'10" as the cut off. I understand that Derek has a small waist, which highlights his mass elsewhere, but is still too short to be standing next to taller dudes. Fingers crossed, Jacked or Samson come in peeled and full, and run away with it... it's what looks better, period.

Only tall dudes think what you said luckily y'all are such a small minority in the population so y'all opinion carries little weight. There's nothing wrong with bodybuilding, bodybuilding as never been this popular. There's nothing inherently better about tall. The average worldwide male height is 5'7 so having champs that height is why bodybuilding is the most popular it as ever been. "Shorter" men have more muscle on their frame more fill-out and dense. Derek is more complete than any of the tall dudes so what you said made no sense.

I just saw Samson's newest update and Derek's newest update and Hadi's update Hadi and Derek are WAY ahead of Samson. Derek and Hadi are denser, more muscle mass on their frame a lot more conditioned. Derek is looking like a true beast he is dense, hard, conditioned and massive and his muscle and skin is far fresher than Samson's. Samson right now has that old man look he looks somewhat melted. Hadi and Derek are the two best it would keep the MR.O exciting if that rivalry keep going and they battle for years to come, that would be great marketing for the sport!

Derrick looks “hard and conditioned”? Sorry but even in competitions he looks soft with no striations, especially from the front. He has a ton of muscle for sure, but he won last year based more on his overall popularity and what it offers the sport.

They're tall yes , but short guys have almost bigger backs and legs compared to them , it's for sure about the size and height and weight and conditioning at the same time , it's called overall package , witch is something that short guys like Hadi and Derek are Fuller in it , samson doesn't have that crazy conditioning like Hadi has , Andrew Jack doesn't have that impressive back size and conditioning of the back like the one Derek has , those guys's physics for sure is more beautiful but do they have a better overall package than Hadi and Derek? Hell no , nobody gives the mister Olympia title to a person who doesn't have any conditioning , and doesn't have any back , and if he's even good on those aspects , nobody gives it to someone who is worse than others , compared to himself yes he's good but you have to compare him to others as well my friend , Chris cormier and so more bodybuilders had height and beautiful physics but they've never been winners . It's called overall package competition , not only height competition

The worldwide average male height is 5'7 so having champs about that height will draw more fans that's why Derek won the people's champ award, Hadi twice, Roelly, Nick all "shorter" men and that's why bodybuilding is the most popular it has ever been. Bruno Santos is Brazilian. Therrick El Guindy and Santos are both Brazilian. Therrick works for the IFBB, and so does Thyler Manion, so they know each other and are friends. Use your head. I’ve never seen such nonsense before; you’re prejudging and making assumptions about the final. The federation is corrupt. The IFBB has been problematic for years. Some Olympia winners include: 1997 - Dorian Yates, 2007 - Jay Cutler, 2014 - Phil Heath, 2017 - Phil Heath, 2023 - Derek Lunsford, and so on.

Height does effect how long it takes the physique to fill out though. Shorter bodybuilders with shorter limbs will have the illusion of being more muscular in that aspect. That's why Samson and Andrew had to add muscle mass in order to not look stringy next to them. It will be interesting to see if both can now bring in the conditioning.

Samson has every chance to become Mr. Olympia. He is no worse than Khadi and Derek. But he is bigger and more massive. He should only be afraid of Martin and Andrew. Martin Fitzwater has great potential and looks like Phil Heath, although there is still a lot to work on, and Andrew Jackett can put up a phenomenal torso, which, all things being equal, looks very good, especially if Andrew adds to his legs. Samson has no lagging muscle groups. He just needs to add stripes to his body like Khadi.

@@granddaddyofthemall6320 Derek's back is wider than anyone else's. That's a fact. But judges can't always single out just the back as an entry ticket to first place at the Olympia. But Samson is harmonious in all parts of the body. With his body type, the back can only be made thicker, but not much wider. I am for the harmonious development of all muscle groups. Samson needs to be drier in the arms and lower abdomen. At least better control. But, for example, Hadi is harmonious and absolutely dry. He has improved a lot. But again, on stage, his back will look smaller than Derek's. And if Derek shows the same form as last year and still wins, then this is already subjective judging! This year, the list of participants is very strong and many have improved significantly. As always, I am for Hunter. I hope he does something with the central line of the abs.
