But you're giving up almost all tech/AI growth. I'd add VUG, SCHD, QQQM, or similar to make it a great trifecta.
@kevindrinon260010 сағат бұрын
I have SCHD as my largest holding. My next largest holding is SPLG (S&P 500 ETF). Third cornerstone is a dual holding combo of QQQM and JEPQ for the Tech Portion Growth as well as monthly dividends for the latter. I also have DGRW for overall Total Return with smaller monthly dividends and COWZ for my High Cash Flow ETF which also has a close to 2% dividend. I also own MAIN as a BDC for high monthly dividends - a great performer. So in summary I trust SCHD partnering with tech ETFs for balance as well as SPLG for the S&P 500 and a BDC for monthly dividends for more pop. I'm considering moving some investments in 2025 to Sm Cap AVUV and Mid Cap (still haven't decided on the best Mid Cap ETF still researching. Feel free to comment anyone on what you think of my strategy. Still Loving SCHD.

Thanks, Mark, for your spot-on update analysis on whether SCHD remains a good long-term investment for dividend-focused investors. I remain long SCHD for its diversified dividend growth and dividend yield focus. As an alternative to individual tech stocks (although I have owned Apple since 2013), I have invested in the high-yielding closed end fund, BST.

Long on SCHD and accumulating...the aspect I prefer the most is that it rebalances every year so you get to best of the current best each year....doing well, keep adding each month a fixed amount and have powder stashed for those eventual big dips....cant let a good crisis go to waste!!

If your dividend ETF has growth in the name, has a tech focus, and has a 1.something % yield, just buy a growth fund or the S&P

What about DGRO? I have plenty of SCHD. Just asking.
@andreyshulgin5984Күн бұрын
The best combination: SCHD/DGRO 50/50 for value sector of any portfolio, with only 19% overlap by weight. 💯
@nunyabidness1972Күн бұрын
I hold both! DGRO has 417 holdings vs 103 for SCHD. DGRO is heavier in I.T. and utilities, while SCHD is heavier in energy and communication services. 19% overlap between the funds. I think they compliment each other VERY well! These are the only two dividend funds I want. But if I could only pick one, it would have to be SCHD. I really like the selection formula for it.

Inadequate regulation of the financial industry led to the catastrophe of 2008. Here we go again. When will America learn that Republican administrations are consistently worse for the economy than Democratic administrations?
@willd473119 сағат бұрын
Unless you are literally a retiree depending on dividend income to survive, you're an idiot going into SCHD at the measly 3.5 return For crying out loud, you're better off with savings accounts at 4% right now then this. Much better off, in our current Trump economy, to be in growth stocks, tech, mag7, or at minimum State Street cyclical ETFs like XLF, XLE, etc.

3.5% is not a dividend, it's a joke. I hold schd but thinking switching to something that yields 5% at least, and appreciates. Schwab fell asleep at the wheel with their behemoth fund.
