Hi! I'm from New Delhi looking to start investing in the US stock market with $80-100k. Should I focus on index funds or individual stocks? Also, any tips on handling currency exchange rates? Thanks!
@Eugene-m2v4 сағат бұрын
With $80-100k, I'd suggest a mix of index funds and a few individual stocks. Diversify and watch currency rates by converting in smaller amounts. Good luck!

Personally I put down 1.3m$ on few ETFs, still diversifying. It was this time last year I made my first million with a liquid 200k. Invested it with a CFP here in TX, I get weekly pay out which I invest back on long term ETF's. Google will be a huge buy for me when the market bottoms.

I have $215k invested in VICI and CRM. If you had to choose between AMD and SOFI, which would you pick and why? I’m planning to make some additions.
@GaryBker13 сағат бұрын
Deciding between SOFI and AMD depends on your invstmnt goals and risk tolerance. AMD offers stability and growth in tech and AI, while SOFI presents higher-risk, high-reward potential in fintech. Seeking advce from a CFA would be a smart move at this point.

I anticipate positive growth in the markets for 2025, and I'm considering investing $220k in stocks for my retirement plan due to recent rate cuts. Could you provide guidance on executing this investment safely? Additionally, are there any crucial tips or changes I should be mindful of in the current financial landscape?
@Mlanderos-t9e14 сағат бұрын
If you're new to investing or not very experienced, it's wise to seek advice from an expert. Investing without proper guidance can result in mistakes and losses, and I've learned this from my own experience.

I totally agree with you. I started out investing on my own too and lost quite a bit. After the 2020 crash, I managed to pull out about $160k. I then invested that money with an analyst, and in just seven months, I made almost $480,000. It's amazing how having the right guidance can turn things around!

My CFA is Judith Davies Clarke, a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. I'm seriously looking at putting a major chunk into schd. At 54 and not having played US stocks before I think it's the best bet over my next 10 years or so I have left as a "worker", and I'll compliment it with 1 or 2 more ETFs and some speculative AI stocks for fun and potential gains. I left stock market investing until the last minute I guess but that's another story. Luckily I put about 3k into a dividend stock in 1998 that has 100X'd in that time without me touching it. I watched it drop 50% during the financial crisis but didn't care because I'll never touch it unless I have to. Its share price has only increased about 6x in that 26 years. My point in mentioning that is dividend reinvestment works like magic over the years, so my advice to youngsters is drop as much money into something like SCHD and/or other dividend stocks as early as you can in your 20s and you'll be massively rewarded after 20-30 years of growth, and that time will go fast. Before you know it you'll be mid 50s and looking at a ton of money you never had to work for, and peace of mind. If I had have just dropped another 10k into the stock back then I'd have 1-1.5 million there now. If I regret one thing in my life it's not doing that, when I could have.

Perhaps another 20 grand in a tech ETF. Maybe 10 grand in some higher risk stuff. Does that sound pretty safe to anybody? Second question when I’m investing on my own how do I make the drip happen or does that happen Automatically on these apps like Charles Schwab or Robin Hood?

Acquiring stocks could appear simple, but choosing the right stock without a tested plan can be very difficult. My main barrier to growing my $210K portfolio, which I've been working on for a while, is the absence of well-defined entry and exit plans. Any guidance on this would be highly valued.

I'm seeking advice on my investment strategy. I recently shifted my 3-fund portfolio (33% S&P, 33% Total Stock, and 33% International) to 100% stocks for maximum growth. However, I'm concerned about the overlap between S&P 500 and Total Stock Market. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing losses for a month, which is causing significant stress. As someone who works hard for their money, investment anxieties are taking a toll. I'm torn between cutting my losses and riding out the volatility.
