I almost bought a green & gold Alpinist 2 years ago but I instead bought a SARW019 with a 6r21 28,800 beat movement for 629.00 shipped from SeiyaJapan! So glad I did! Especially now! Good video, thanks!! 👍👍

My big problem with this watch: Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic 38mm. $575 retail with 100m WR, Hamilton H-10 movement with 80(!) hours power reserve. Used? Probably can snag it way cheaper. I got one with an ETA 2824 movement for $200, as well as a 40mm Khaki King Day-Date (albeit 50M water resistance) which has the 80 hour power reserve also around the $200 mark. On top of this, what happens if you have a problem with the Alpinist and live in the US? Can/will Seiko service it for you in America with that new 6R35 movement? Hamilton can do a full service for you under $200 I believe, and I had my watchmaker regulate the Day-Date since it was running fast and now it's at the point where it only gained 2 seconds over a week :D .

$750, mate c'mon..... yes its an increase on a watch that was amazing value but compare to other watches in this price range, indi brand subs for 500-600, the new Seiko is a good buy IMO, just payed £570 for one 🤑

I basically agree. Not worth the price. Yes the watch did look pretty in that video. I personally like green but I never liked the green dial on this. I’m just completely not interested in owning one. I also think there are much better options for this price and less. The retail prices for the new Seiko releases are extremely high. Another example is the 3rd Gen Sumo, which is double what the 2nd Gen Was. Saphire and 20 more hours of power reserve are j t worth double the price.

Aren't you comparing the street price to the retail price when you said the new ones are doubled in price? I'm not sure what the MSRP of the SARB017 was in USA, but looking at the Japanese prices, the old ones were 55,000 JPY, and the new ones are 75,000 JPY, so it's really a 36% price increase, not a doubling of the price. Not saying it's justified, but definitely not as much of an increase.

I guess I won't be getting one I refuse to pay over 5 hundred dollars for a inaccurate watch I didn't pay that much money for my paid 21 turtle and my anartica Munster

I bought the last generation alpinist and I have to say that I was not impressed with what I got for the money. In my opinion Hamilton watches at that price level feel better finished. And now that they're going to the $750 + level, they are competing with the higher models from Hamilton such as the aviator watches and the Khaki Navy watches. And if you go gray market, a Hamilton Khaki Navy for $500 is way better value than the new Alpinist. Frankly, I think you'd be better off with one of those two Hamiltons over this watch. And $750 also puts you $100 short of getting a 39mm non-ceramic bezel Longines Hydroconquest through the gray market. Needless to say, the Alpinist could never hold a candle to the Longines Hydroconquest in terms of feel, fit and finish, movement, etc. I also can't stand the date magnifier in the newer model. It just screams cheap Rolex homage watch...and Seiko should be beyond that at this point. That's something I'd expect Invicta or other low brand to do, not Seiko....except that yeah, Seiko went there.

People who do reviews without having the piece never make sense to me... In fact, you even use other people's clips!?!? Lazy... It takes away from the valid points you may have

I understand what you mean. But this is not a review. It's just a discussion video. I have plenty actual reviews on my channel from all kind of products. My discussion videos are just my initial thoughts on an item that may not even be released yet. For instance this video is just me venting a little bit on Seiko new pricing. Thanks for the comment.
