Also doesn’t make sense because Saul is referred to as a young man when he first appears in Acts. And the name, etc.

And I think Saul is younger than Shmuel. Saul was still a youth when he was actively persecuting Christians. Older mature Pharisees stay clean and use these young disciples to persecute Jesus followers.

Now that they’ve announced Book of Acts show, I doubt we’ll see “Paul” until season 7 possibly, maybe as a teen or young adult as a brief appearance and nod to what is to come… and I imagine for the actual Acts show, they will find a phenomenal breakout star like Roumie who is less known actor but has the ability and charisma to carry the depth of playing the role of Paul. It’d be too risky to bring this character out now. Whoever plays Paul will need to carry that entire Book of Acts series.

Saul never met Jesus in the flesh and so Shmuel can't be Saul.
@TheChosenSleuth3 ай бұрын
We don't actually KNOW this for sure. While I agree it's unlikely, Saul was a MASSIVE part of the pharisees and was obviously around Jerusalem when Jesus was killed and resurrected so he ABSOLUTELY knew about Jesus if not saw Him with his own eyes. Paul says he grew up in Jerusalem, so he would've been around. Though yes I agree the % chance of Shmuel actually being Saul is pretty low for a few other reasons.
@angladechildren41053 ай бұрын
No Acts 22:3 says Saul was born in tarsus, not Jerusalem. Shmuel says in S2 E5 that Capernaum is his home, not Jerusalem or Tarsus . The verse also says Gamaliel taught him, not Nicodemus@@TheChosenSleuth

If he were Paul - in the Chosen, at least, his name would be Shaul or Sha'ul (English version being Saul). The Hebrew name Shmuel is what we in English would call Samuel.
@Hard_Boiled_Entertainment3 ай бұрын
Personally I suspect that his point about Shmuel potentially coming around in the end points not to Saul of Tarses ("Shmuel" = "Samuel," not "Saul"), but perhaps to the unnamed disciple with Cleopus on the road to Emmaus.

Whether or not he's St Paul, Schmuel is one of the better developed and more believable characters on the show. Unlike so many Pharisees and Saducees, he's actually looking for God and to a degree has an open mind. To a degree.

So this particular subject is tiring. Because the Bible makes it very clear. Paul never interacted with him at all. When he was Saul he didn't know him. I don't know what his story is, but he can't be Schmuel. It also can't be the mystery.Man that nobody knows who he is from Lazarus's.Raising because again it says in the Bible.He never knew Jesus he never saw him.He never interacted with him, Until after his resurrection when he got knocked off his horse on the road to damascus.

@caia19903 ай бұрын
Shmuel cannot be Saul; first, Saul is from Tarsus, sort of a foreign student in Jerusalem. Next, Saul of Tarsus was a student of Gamaliel, not of Nicodemus; thirdly, Saul was not a member of the Sanhedrin. But most important, St Paul does write a lot about his road to faith and he never dismissed any tool that he may have used to bring others to Jesus. If he had any interaction with Jesus before the encounter on the road to Damascus, if he had experienced anything close to what Shmuel experienced in The Chosen, we would have read about it in his epistles. St Paul would have made a powerful argument of it to convince the Jews, and not only. Since St Paul never mentioned anything even remotely similar to Shmuel's experience, it didn't happen.

Every time I've opened my mind to something new in the last 53 years, life has proven me wrong. Every single time. For that reason, I pity the Pharisees, because they've missed the point of the law and they WERE something new. The Sadducees are the equivalent of today's New York Atheist Jews. But I also pity those who want to learn something new, because going outside of the commandments is always dangerous.
