Today we dig into the controversial legume, Soy. There's so much to cover and I definitely couldn't cover it all, but I did my best to cover the issues I get the most questions about. Thanks so much for checking out this video. Let me know your thoughts on soy down below.
SAUCE RECIPE
Miso Tahini Sauce (simple and thick!)
1 Tbsp. miso,
1 tbsp ACV
2 Tbsp Tahini,
2 Tbsp hot water
Mix together well and use for marinading, dip, or add a couple more tbsp of water and use for a dressing!
Miso Tahini Sauce 2.0 (similiar to recipe above but AMPED UP!)
1 Tbsp. miso,
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 Tbsp tahini,
4 Tbsp hot water
2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Blend everything together in a blender (I used my magic bullet) enjoy as a dressing, sauce or dip! Happy Eating!

Thanks for checking out this video! There's so much misinformation out there about soy, I hope this clears some of it up. Again, you don't HAVE to eat soy, but as this video shows, it also isn't something we need to be worried about. I've had a few people ask me how much soy they can be eating? Check out this video "How Much Soy Is Too Much" from Nutrition Facts for the answer to that. bit.ly/1NiIqgy

Awesome video! I also tested this hypothesis at a level that would never be accepted in a medical study due to safety and ethical reasons for the participants. Last 6 weeks before a bodybuilding show I basically used mostly soy and soy protein. I took a blood test 2 days after a show, low estrogen, normal testosterone, great blood work all around given the huge stress on the body by getting to a 6-7% bodyfat level.

Simnet, my husband has the biggest man crush on you! Loving the haircut for summer!!!! I love this video. As a personal trainer I have so many clients terrified of soy...yet they eat GMO fed conventional meat cause #protein lol! It drives me crazy how much misinformation there is out there! I eat all organic for autoimmune issues but a whole food plant based organic diet changed them all! Thanks for spreading this important information and keeping it real, you're so down to earth and so entertaining. It's good for my husband to watch someone as athletic as you eat so healthfully and build muscle on plants, and to give him ideas for meals for me to make (or inspire him to make his own which is a plus for me!!) haha. Hi Derek. I have found your youtube channel recently. I absolutely love it!!!!! I am a student of Human Nutrition, with a huge passion for plant-based nutrition. I have to say you are a great educator and inspirator because you take all these topic seriously, with background multiple evidence-based studies and underline the facts, although some of the long term evidence in general needs to be studied deeper about plant-based diet topic but the science is coming there. You have a holistic approach and I am very happy to see somebody like you out there in this mix messages mass media information! THANK YOU, you have my respect :) AND KEEP IT UP

Good Lord Man! Mostly raw for 40 years?? Ay-yi-yi-yi-Yiiiiiiii!!! How on EARTH?? And my most sincere CONGRATULATIONS! Geez u must be healthy as a horse! Your insides must be clean as a whistle eh?! Would u mind sharing with me please...an average days eating for u sir? I'm just fascinated because i honestly don't think i could do it for a week, let alone 4 decades! i havent had meat for 15 years or dairy for about 3 and ive just gone whole food vegan no oil about a year ago. But what gets me thru....what i know will keep me eating this way till i kick it...is the warm porridge, the baked oats with blueberries, the vege stir fries on top of rice & quinoa, the hearty soups & chilli bowls, the mashed potatoes & gravy, baked sweet potatoes loaded with unfried refried beans, airfried chippies with dippy dishes of "cheeze" sauce & ketchup! Just thinking of my faves to add here got me shaking my head at how little raw i DO eat! Just a few salads a week (more when my gardens happy) plus my daily smoothy. which is just 3 cups of green leafys, a chunk of turmeric root, and some berries & pineapple. thats it! SMH. yeah nah im SURE i couldnt cope on raw? Curiosity is mad peaked now tho, bout what meals you must eat?!

Dripping with information, fun, cool, neat, interesting, cozy, chill... I mean lemme get my dictionary with all the good words out there! You sure have lots of tempeh options there in Canada, here in Italy is like "that strange sponge" that's a little bit pricey for the quantity you get, unfortunately, but at least the tofu is somewhat good! And it's really the best thing to always look for organic soy.

@happynessadict
@happynessadict 5 жыл бұрын
@Carlos_ its not the same estrogen as we make as humans not even close , also beer has more phytoestrogen then soy because of hops if you compare female estrogen to phyto estrogen its about 100plus times weaker it occupies the estrogen receptors and actually blocks the stronger actual human estrogen from over producing

I use amaranth together with quinoa, I weigh how much I want to cook (50/50 quinoa/amaranth) and cook it in double the total weight in water, bring to a boil, lower heat to almost minimal heat, add lid and cook for about 15 minutes. Don't remove lid before your timer hits 15 mins. It should be perfectly cooked this way and no need to drain water as it will al be evaporated.

Carnivore Life Straight men can’t comment on a guy’s hair? Commenting on a man’s hair make one less of a man? Do you live under a rock and have such a limited idea of what a man is?

"soy" would make a great cat name 🤔 Thankfully, GMO is legally prohibited in Russia. And soy isn't that big here anyway. Soy products are barely available in small towns, so there are happy healthy vegans who eat tofu once a year as a special treat 😅

@Big Dank Beans almost all the other beans and legumes are available. Chickpeas and lentils are slightly more expensive, but still affordable. Tofu isn't that expensive either, cheaper than cheese, there is just very little demand for it where I live. Avocados are like 1-1.5$. Still plenty of delicious food. We're in it for the animals, not for gluttony and pleasure, aren't we?)

@Big Dank Beans well done! Fortunately, as a 120lb girl, I can work out from 8 to 10 hours a week doing all sorts of things (weight lifting, running, cycling, dancing, walking and what not) and still feel satiated on the mere 2000 calories. But I admire your decision ) way to go

Simnett- the one guy who could potentially make me try veganism again one day. I love your content. Still waiting for you to collab with one of the ex-vegans. I think you and Drew Morg would be an interesting dynamic. Either way, thank you!!

I actually disagree. I think getting caught up in the entire ex-vegan drama would take away from this channel or his point. Why would it matter?
