Ultimate food of Northern Spain vlog! Today we tour around, taste and review Spanish cuisine in Asturias North Spain...⬇ Click 'Show More' ✈ Learn to travel full-time: bit.ly/2PjaPey
Is Spanish food good? Ok, it's obviously absolutely amazing - seems like every one knows that the food in Spain is on a whole new level, the cuisine is delicious!
Todays vlog covers all the food we tasted on our tour around Asturias in Northern Spain, not necessarily a food tour, but it may as well be with the amount of cuisine we've crammed into this one video! It's pretty clear our review on the various food we tried is positive, picking a fav dish would be hard, but probably Fabada... or the sea bass!
It's not considered food, but the cider of Northern Spain is definitely our scene. Not just the taste, but the whole tradition, the scene, the paired food and cuisine, they just get it!
This was our first time seeing the North of Spain and we loved it - it feels untapped, there's less people, less tourism and so much more to appreciate without the hustle. For a full read on what to do with 48 hours in Asturias check out our blog post: danegerandstacey.com/48-hours...
Here's the full food vlog: danegerandstacey.com/best-foo...
A Northern Spain Tour should be the next thing you Google, find a way to get here soon!
Thanks to Spain Tourism and Turismo Asturias for inviting us to explore the North of Spain and share how amazing it is!

Paella and jamon remind me of many Spanish foods popular in the Philippines, authentically served at Casino Espanol de Manila, a club established in 1844 by Spaniards living in the Phils as their exclusive venue for recreational and social activities. It is still popular here.

@miquelferrer1102
@miquelferrer1102 5 жыл бұрын
@Ginger Of course we don't have the best pasta and pizza, but that's obvious, isn't it? Those dishes are not from our culture, so it's difficult to find a good pizza in Spain, but as I said, try to get a paella on italy for example, they won't do it as well as us and I don't blame them, its just because is not their culture
@miquelferrer1102

@Ginger Of course you can eat something else that traditional food, but don't expect that those dishes will be as good as the original dish from the original country. I mean, If I go to Japan I will try to eat local cuisine, because I already know that if I order pizza or pasta it won't be as good as it is in Italy

@Ginger have you ever lived outside of Spain?? Because I have seen children in the UK consuming way more fat and sugar than an average Spanish child, plus in Spain the regulations around fat and sugar are quite strict compared to the ones in other countries. We live in the UK and if you have a coca-cola or a fanta you feel the difference, it has more sugar here. We do have rubbish food in Spain, every country has it, but our diet (the Mediterranean diet, which also includes Italy, Portugal...) is way healthier. We also cook more from scratch which also helps. I have been looked at like a crazy person when I take my home-cooked lunch to work, but I grew up knowing what I put in my mouth.

The north of Spain is such amazing place that you need a lot of time to explore, from Galicia to País Vasco. I'm from Asturias and today I am still discovering new fantastic places to go. The gastronomy is one of the more riches of Spain, our cheeses are incredible and we have one of the most expensive of the world which can reach more than 1.000€/kg, a madness. Places like Oviedo, Gijón, Llanes, Villaviciosa, The Oscos and much more. Our neighbours, for example Lugo in Galicia and its "Playa de las Catedrales" one of the most beautiful beaches of Spain and it's very near to Asturias, our other neighbours of Cantabria with Altamira Cave, all their food like seafood, octopus and empanada (pastry turnover filled with meat, fish, apple or whatever you want) in Galicia, Quesada Pasiega or Sobaos two really delicious desserts of Cantabria. A big hi and glad you enjoy your visit to Spain.

I am very happy to see that people know how to appreciate all the good things that our country offers, not only food, but our hospitality, joy, good weather, etc. Thank you very much and may VIVA SPAIN!

Las Croquetas are made with Bechamel, the bechamel is made with flour and milk and while stirring continuously you added olive oil or butter and a little of salt, if you want ham ( jamon) you throw very small pieces, bechamel can be given many things, such as chichen of course you can also add cheese preferably blue, you have to de careful that lumps do not come out, I recommend a tutorial on KZbin to do the Bechamel.

Not really, most of the ingridents are rather poor. Croquetas are an example of this really cheap ingredients, but they're a pain in the ass to prepare. Also some "luxury" food isn't that much of a luxury in spain. Olive oil costs a fourth of what it costs in the US. Sea food is also cheap since Spain has a lot of sea. All in all in northern Spain you can get an amazing meal with lots of food wine, cider or beer for 15-20 bucks. If you know places and what to order you can eat extremely well for even less 10-12€

The reason we have dinner so late is because we leave work late too; anyway i wouldn´t say 10 or 11, but 9 or 10 instead (11 is too way late even for Spain). Normally the people stop working at 7:00 or even 8:00 in the night, so they go to buy some things before arriving home, and they get to the house over 8:00 or 8:30 more or less. Regarding the stop or break you mentioned in the middle of the morning, not all the people can afford it and it depends on your boss and the amount of work you have. Goverment workers or officials normally have time to do this break, but it really depends on the job. In construction sites they also do it, but only because they work 9 or 10 hours and a rest is needed in the middle of the morning to endure the long work hours, but it´s not allowed in all jobs. Also i would like to mention that normally independent small shops and familly bussiness close the doors a couple of hours in the afternoon until 5 in the evening, because they go home to have lunch, and then they come back. Regarding big malls and shopping centers, they are open all day long until night. There are a lof of crazy myths about spanish working culture and schedules, some of them have part of truth, and many of them are directly ridiculous, normally spread by people visiting the country once or twice but never really worked here. To know the culture, the best is to live and work in spain, not only reading about siestas, flamenco and bullfights.

@Dream331 Hahahaha, dont worry about size if you come Buddy!! Gastronomy showed on the video is from possy and nice restaurants, but popular bars and "sidrerias" serve huge meals of tradicional food and not very high price. Price, quality and amount of food are usually very balanced here in Asturias. Just try to do a little research and you will see the typical "spanish menú" or the "cachopo", even fabada is not usually served as it is shown un the video, portions are often much bigger.
@avecesar4244

If you go to normal bars in little villages you'll taste wonderful food at a good price and the portions are bigger than in this video. Im afraid they visited expensive and classy restaurants, but you'll find heavenly "croquetas" in normal restaurants, or better, in "sidrerías". Dont forget the Cabrales cheese, especially in sauce, with potatoes or with calf. It smells very bad but It tastes fantastic. Dont forget the cider as well

For some reason this video keeps saying that 'this format is unavailable for viewing'. Has anyone else had this problem? I've have attempted to watch this several times but keep getting this message. All other videos work normally.

Oh no... did you get it working? That sounds really weird that its just this one video and not any others.

Butter in Spain is used very little, what is used is olive oil that is very good and apart from Spain it is the best in the world.

Saludos.
