I have Magic Johnson as the best point guard of all time, 5X Champion, 9 Finals appearances, MVP 3X, 9 All NBA 1st teams to Curry’s 4X Champion, 6 finals appearances, 2 MVPs, 4 All NBA 1st team. Curry’s a better scorer than Magic, but Magic is better at everything else. Both are iconic, but Magic is the best PG of all time. And something to consider is that Magic’s career ended abruptly he still had a good 3 to 4 years left to play at a pretty high level.

@@kimtoncoleman8934 Doesn’t matter, what about MVPs, 9 All NBA 1st teams, 9 championship appearances, Magic only played 13 seasons, it’s arguably the greatest run any player has ever had not to mention playing against 3 of greatest teams of all time, Celtics, Philly, and Pistons. Magic has gotten to the finals 69% of the time he played, compared to Curry’s 42%. Curry has played 14 seasons although he has been great no question about that.

@@kimtoncoleman8934 That’s significant, but if Steph is as cold as you say he would have more 1st team All NBAs also, the All NBAs recognizes you as the best player at your position or in the league, Magic did it for nine seasons, Three years as the best player in the league. Steph might be able to get another MVP but he will never catch Magic on first team All NBAs. That says it all right there.

I don't know how I feel about this exactly. But, one thing SAS fails to mention is that Curry shoots that average while throwing up shots nobody else will even attempt from 3pt. It's easy to love EMJ. He was amazing. I think Curry is too though. People want to make him a shooting guard because he runs around without the ball so much. But, because of how good a shooter he is, it can be considered another way to get teammates open shots. So, he's in there, no matter how you want to slice it...

Magic was a cheat code but his competition was mid. He had at least half a foot and 30 pounds on the average pg of his time. He also had no consistent jumper. He had those accolades big thanks to his teammates. They were already great and needed someone to push the ball and get the right passes in. Right place right time. His team was already stacked. Magic is miles better than Steph, Magic won at high school level, collage and NBA. He won a championship as a rookie in the NBA while playing all 5 positions in that game and was always a team first player but we all know Magic could ball and score if the team needed it. The way Basketball is played now days has allowed players like Curry to flourish and become superstars, that being said I do feel that Curry is a great point guard who has indeed inspired many and who has changed the game. In the end I think that it would be more accurate to say that Magic is the GOAT point guard of the old era and that Steph is the best of the new era of basketball, but in my opinion, Magic is still way ahead of Steph as a player.

This is absolute nonsense. To be able to watch the game and say that Magic is miles ahead of Steph is insane, especially if you’re talking about the “better player.” Scoring and shooting along with the benefit of gravity that uproots every defense and makes them vulnerable, is more valuable than “passing” because you get players open via gravity delegating the task of passing to someone else while being a menace to every defense. Logically, it doesn’t make much sense not to choose Steph, with all due respect and admiration to Magic, of course.

Curry is not a point guard just like Iverson was not a point guard even though he played it the beginning of his career and mostly guarded the point guards because he was to small to guard 2 guards. Then you change the point to Kobe and Lebron which your totally wrong. Lebron has more career playoff points, regular season points all on less shots taken and Lebron not being only a scorer, more finals MVPs, More Regular season MVPs. More All NBA’s , a rookie of the year award and Lebron has higher field goal % , More career assists and rebounds as well as higher averages. Lebron also leads the head to head series in games won. So how exactly is Kobe in Lebron shoes when there is all this distance in every stat and NBA accolade 😂 y’all just be saying 💩 People like Kobe’s game better which is fine. I can agree with that but there is no reasoning for saying Kobe and Lebron are close no numbers you want say it. Since Kobe died a lot of rewriting history. But it’s really not that close on career. To me its like steph and Kyrie I like Kyrie game better than steph and Kyrie has outplayed steph but they not even close in terms of accolades or stats so makes no sense saying Kyrie better

And for those saying Curry isn't a true point guard, I'll have you know point guard isn't about assists... "Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan, They must also be able to adapt to what the defense is allowing and must control the pace of the game." I'll argue Curry does this extremely well, he runs the teams offense and is the teams offense, he exploits the opp defense so much so that his presence puts them in constant danger.

I think this debate depends a lot on the aspects you value most in greatness. Magic Johnson blows Steph Curry out of the water when it comes to both personal and team achievements, and he did it in less time. But at his peak I’d say without a doubt that Curry was the more impactful player to his team, and if I were to ask myself who I’d pick over the other on my basketball team, I’d take Steph.

Why.. Steph is good as an ensemble... Magic actrually makes you a contender because he will increase the other subpar teammates stats up he made elden camble look good and Divac look better than he ever did... Steph is great no doubt but Magic is by a mile the more superior player
@michaelshan22
@michaelshan22 Жыл бұрын
@@vernonherb The Golden State Warriors dynasty started through Stephen Curry and will probably end through it as well. Their style of play is completely built around Steph's ability to space the floor with his otherworldly 3-point shooting and constantly calculating movement off the ball. Although it may not be as directly shown through stats as they don't count as "assists", the space that Steph opens up for teammates through his gravity absolutely makes teammates better and instills fear in the opposing team from the perimeter. I'd say his impact towards making subpar teammates better is arguably just as large as Magic's, just look at his Finals run last year where he helped to elevate the play of teammates like Andrew Wiggins and Otto Porter Jr. His impact on the game is clearly shown through the Warrior's offensive numbers with him on the court vs off it, it's like they're completely lost without him.

I absolutely love Steph Curry for who he is on and off the court as far as we can see, but Magic Johnson is the greatest point guard in the history of the NBA. Magic won a championship during his rookie season where he had to play all five positions because Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was hurt, and he did it in that era of more physicality. Steph Curry plays in this no hand-check era, and it is more difficult to be physical with him like they were with shooters back then. Magic truly did no look passes. What they call no look passes now are not really no look passes. Magic literally was not looking in the direction of the person at all, and he made a perfect pass. It was INSANE--especially at his size--that he could move the way he moved and was his effective as he was. It's Magic Johnson all day. That's not to take away from Steph Curry at all, but it's a Magic Johnson all day.

Last season Stephen A said if Curry beats Lebron in the semi-conference finals, not the NBA finals, the semi-finals, a legitimate argument could be made that Steph is better than LeBron. He then disrespects a legend in Magic, someone he claimed to be his guy, suggesting Curry has surpassed him as the GOAT of point guards. Not only does he not have facts to back up his blasphemy, but Stephen A has bragged about his relationship with Magic, which goes way back. Whatever so-called relationship he has with Steph pales in comparison. That's loyalty for you. Let me tell you what's going on here; the dude has long been infatuated by Curry, literally jacking off on his jump shot. He values shooting more than he does passing and defense. Even Stephen A, in so many words, has admitted that. When it comes to his baby Steph he refuses to be objective.
