So I'm pretty much just wasting my time. My little one is 3 months and he's starting to teethe, he keeps chewing on his hands, clothes and blanket. Got me thinking what's the point of still sterilising if he's shoving everything into his mouth. I want him to have a good immunity but i don't want to have the risk of potential bacteria. 🤷🏼‍♀️

haaaay. Im thankful I found this video after searching if its safe to stop sterilizing feeding bottles. Ive been wasting my time, my baby already turned 2!

I always wondered what was the point in sterilizing when you don't sterilize the mother's breast before putting the baby to drink. The hard dry surface of the baby bottle will not have much germs compared to the warm moist surface of a woman's breast. Also, watching babies putting their fists and everything else into their mouths, I am sure those have way more germs than a baby bottle. I now realize the advice came from a time when water and baby bottles were a lot less safer than they are today. I never sterilized my son's feeding equipment and he's still fine after 2 years.

@@ophelia_n1514 I have 4 children . With the last two I thought it was a lie perhaps. Because many times with the previous two i simply washed with soap and then poured boiling water over the bottle so it was fully submersed . I didn’t notice any problems with this method . Hence I decided with the last two children I would sell my electric steriliser. That was another thing to wash, and it took up precious countertop space . I just used poured over boiling water, no cooking on the stove . My children were fine too they never got ill. I think cooking on the stove can damage the bottles and in particular the teats. That would mean more money for the manufacturers. So now I’m wondering if I would even use boiling water once I had sterilised the bottles on initially buying them. I believe it’s a big con.

I don’t. I use hot soapy water ( antibacterial dish soap). And voala!

How much tym and how long bolltes should be sterilized???

Wash bottles rings and nipples and covers...pacifycers..in a plastic bowl in sink with a seperate sponge and brush...rinse in bowl #2....sterilize bottles In one big pot...rings covers 2nd pot...3-5 minutes...nipoles and pacifyer in smaller 3rd pot 3-5 minutes...let cool...assemble bottles...place in clean storage area...plastic bin with cover...or fridge... Steralize everything year...maybe a month more...it is your babys life health for future generations that you are providing for...after all they are only little once. Bottles might be modern...but you won't have to deal with sickie germies too much...love your little ones...Don't be lazy...🎈

Jenn Ochoa ... Yes for the 1st year... I did. You must also boil the water before offering baby a 1 oz -2oz sip of water for hiccups. Also for mixing powdered formula or evaporated formula...you can keep the water in a large glass mason jar (boil jar and ring and lid) Or a glass pitcher with cover...just give the pitcher a quick rinse inside with hot boiled water 1/2 cup...for cleanliness.

do you also sterilise your nipples? the human GI tract is not and can never be sterile.
