I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO REVIEW THIS GAME!!! I loooooove this game so much! I rented it a lot when I was younger, and I still play it a lot today. It’s not the best beat em up but there’s a certain charm to it that I appreciate. Also just the oddness of these characters and this world kinda draws me in. TMNT is still my favorite beat em up on SNES, but this is definitely a game in my top ten favorite SNES games.
@sboinkthelegday38923 жыл бұрын
They're re-releasing it. A company skull-duggered the IP rights from Hong Kong and it's now on Kickstarter for new comics, cartoons and reprint of the video game, both physical and digital. Failing the kickstart I guess they will only release the cartoon digitally with previously unaired episodes.

I really enjoy your videos.

Man, King of Dragons is one of my favorite beatemups ever. Its aracade style, some variety in characters (I use the elf and Wizard) the stages are fun, short and easy to memorize. I rented it on SNES back in the day, I had it on my PSP and I got it on my Switch.

This looks good, I like how fluid the text and cinematics are. This is the best I've seen so far to be honest in any SNES game, it looked more like a Steam remake than an actual SNES game (only cinematics/text, not the rest of the game of course!). I too was like 'Aladdin?! Where did that come from?' and was glad you mentioned it later in the video.

Good lord, every time I watch one of your videos I'm immediately teleported back to some random day when I was sitting on the floor in front of the TV playing whatever I rented for the weekend. I actually had a couple of the action figures for these things and they were REALLY cool if I remember correctly. They had the troll hair, but all kinds of weapons and they were, as you said - Totally Rad (pun intended). I could finally have a troll doll without getting beat up.
@vinnycochrane51394 жыл бұрын
I only know about this toyline anecdotally - I don’t think it reached the UK, but I remember the troll toys. I’m really fascinated by the surfer dude etymology, to the extent that whenever I hear “tubular” I get flashbacks to that damn MarioWorld level, like a Nam veteran. The 90s was full of seemingly abstruse expressions for things being superlative...”gnarly” was a very strange one...

I really like long beatemups, but the best implementation is SOR4 to my knowledge. You can do as many or as few levels as you like and come back to it any time. Level select is a huge plus as well. Hoping SOR4 paves way for future games in the genre.

The reason it was able to have a toy line and a game is because the toys came/ were planned first. Everything else, such as the show and the game, were made as a way of advertising them. The KZbinr Rebeltaxi (Not sure if you even know who he is ) did a video about them. Also the reason they became popular again was because there was no official patent that stopped anyone from using their likeness, basically making them public domain.

UPDATE!! PIKO Interactive got the rights to the show, Digitized the episode Masters and might do new toy or game releases! But I thought this was a good one. The tv series I never watched had the DBZ/Beast Wars actors like Ian James Corlett and Scott McNeil and Don Brown (Goku/Cheetor and Piccolo/Dinobot and Scorpinok/Garlic Jr) and for a Ninja Turtles Clone it not awful. Kinda surprised this got a game when Street Sharks, which had like 3x the episodes as this, didn't. I liked that cheezy show. I got a repro of the Genesis cart a few years back and used the gun troll to get through it. with his jumping thing where he fires diagonally down. Its not too hard and I think there's a 2nd com player option.

@Domarius644 жыл бұрын
Actually it's not surprising that it got a toy line and a game, because it's the other way around. Toy companies created toy lines, and then created cartoons to sell the toys. Sad but true, a lot of our favourite cartoons like He-Man, were actually just advertising for the toys themselves. TMNT was a rare exception, based on the original comic books and got lucky.

Agree on most points, although I'd say the game gets tedious even earlier than level 8. Halfway through I decided to look up a walkthrough just to see if it was almost over and ... nope. Ugh. Executing special moves rarely works even when you know you're hitting the correct button combination, so you pretty much forget about them. No continues is brutal for a beat 'em up of this length. Still though, it's playable.
