About Escape from Tarkov
Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG with MMO features developed by Russian Saint-Petersburg-based game developer, Battlestate Games. Set in the fictional Norvinsk region located on the frontier between Russia and Europe, the metropolis of Tarkov was plunged into anarchy thanks to the Contract Wars. Everyone wants to be proven wrong by BSG but with the direction the game has gone in the last 1-2 years its hard to be super optimistic. i still play because no other FPS hits me like tarkov but man do i miss the tarkov i played when i first got it

I'm new to the game but have the same feeling already, I can't really enjoy any other FPS as much as EFT because there's truly no FPS like it, I even tried the STALKER franchise but came back to EFT weeks after.

Is the direction they already had with the game, not only the last 1-2 years but I've been a player of Tarkov for 5/6 years and I still waiting on BSG to prove me wrong (regarding them being capable of finishing/polishing tarkov). I left Tarkov a long time ago, I don't play it since 2 or 3 years ago but I follow his deveploment, waiting until BSG fix their game.

Everyone knows the game is far from what it's going to end up being. We all know on some level that we shouldn't get too used to what we are testing because they have an extremely ambitious vision for this game. They want to create a realistic open world shooter with rpg elements it's not going to be like this forever

I haven't played Tarkov since Streets released and I couldn't get over 50fps.. I think between that and dying to cheaters so often was the final straw for me. Been playing Marauders a lot and started R6S again.

BSG has definitely slowed down on banning cheaters. For a couple months after goats video I barely felt like I ran into a cheater. Now I'm dying to a low lvl white name with chad gear multiple times a day. A few days ago I ran into a flying invincible and invisible player that aimbotted me, then admitted to my friend that he buys cheap stolen accounts and cheats until he has to log into a new one. Although he did get banned mid raid while talking to my firend, at least thats what we assume because he just randomly died and his tag said "died" Edit: got the confirmation that he got banned today.

Don't get me wrong... I love Tarbob... Been playing since patch 11.0ish... OG triple OG Labs main Wkey Mcgee and all that. I just think if BSG went back to the roots of this game (no inertia, lower recoil, no nade animation, no FIR, unlocked the market, more loot, fixed lighting, fixed audio, and brought back ammo to the market and traders), that it would be way better... That's when the game was in it's most popular state. They should have kept it around there and just tossed as much time and money as they could into new maps and maintaining good server health. Nikita has this vision and keeps going on that, but doesn't realize that this game used to be so popular and every raid no matter what map or server was PACKED with people before they started implementing poor updates. Sure, these updates helped the casuals and the "milsim tAcTiCoOl guys", but at the cost of losing the majority of your player base. The game can still be sorta fun here and there... and it's enjoyable, but I really do just sit back and watch old Worrun videos and reminisce about the old days more than I actually play. Tarbob lately is kinda like an old family pet that used to be full of life, memories, and fun, but is now on the verge of dying.

Wipes chase players away. Only hardcore players stay. It's only fun to play the first few weeks of a wipe unless you wanna make tarkov your main game for the next 8 months. Grinding your hideout and the same terrible quests over and over is a terrible experience

As a new player, I'm actually really happy a lot of the vets are leaving.... Most firefights I've had I've just been dominated But I had one fight on Woods, with another Timmy at similar skill level, it was awesome, the two of us dancing between trees tryna cap eachother and increasing closer ranges, the other dude got me in the end but it was so much fun I didn't mind dying and losing my load out. Whereas when there's vets about, I peek a corner and it's head/eyes in 0.0000025 seconds

They are leaving due to 60% of the player base is cheating , and BSG whom make the game, cater more to the cheaters then their avg players, they earn money from the cheaters mulitple times, and the rest of us, only buy 1 account.

It seems like those who held onto hope for so long. That it is too little, too late. The hacking is still rampant, and nothing is happening to truly fix it. Nobody has ever seemed too sure when the game will be released either. Never? It’s honestly feeling like the death of the game.

im sure im talking to a brick wall, but the quests are just excruciatingly unfun, which is the main reason I do not want to play. I don't want to quest. I don't want to have to do the same set of incredibly boring quests just to have access decent loot. Having to sink 200+hours into questing every wipe is not fun imo. I feel like I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say the questing situation is horrible and unfun, and is something that the game forces you into if you want to progress.

The good thing about DayZ is that it has a ton of replay ability and there are a lot of mods, maps, and servers that can keep it fresh on top of that. Anyway I do think Tarkov will be fine it just needs more time in the oven still unfortunately but at the end of the day any game that you put a ton of time into you will eventually get burnt an need a break. It’s good to have like 3 decent games in rotation.

All you do in that game is run around and shoot, set up a base so you can run back to it to store loot to run around and shoot. Gear is more worthless in DayZ than in any game I've ever played, and I genuinely don't get how people enjoy it other than the player interactions you get once every 1-2 hours, which in my opinion, are also very depressing. Most everyone I've met in DayZ is a loser drug addict IRL just like in Tarkov.

I want them to add a Prestige Track to keep the real lifers active while slowly doing away with the wipe structure to keep the less active players engaged. They said they wanted to do some form of post-end-game content and prestige tracking in the future but I feel like that future needs to be closer to "tomorrow" and less "the future". It will allow them to keep players engaged long-term and even test the game's economy in the longform. Something that it needs seeing as they want to move away from wipes once the game aproaches the mythical 1.0

The biggest problem with Tarkov right now is something that simply does not appear for players that don't have kappa yet. That problem is the lack of PVP incentive. It's not just a lack of incentive, it's a Disincentive. You are hurting your ability to stay financially stable in Tarkov right now if you're doing anything but looting a map and staying away from players. Once your done questing, there's nothing to do in Tarkov except PVP. And PVP is in a terrible state, in multiple different ways.

yea I remember when the pvp was fantastic and you could go shoreline, kill 6 people at resort, and walk out of the raid looking like Johnny Bravo with 3 mill+ roubles. Now its just a rat fest.

With the current content and updates coming to the game. I feel that adding more maps or expanding on maps is not nearly enough to pull and keep players engaged enough. Feel like they need to expand and fix content already in the game. Such as the gun building, making it feel rewarding to use unique builds and not have such a cookie cutter set up no matter what gun it is. Or making the ai more engaging and feel fulling to fight, rather than a chore and unfare to fight. Insta headshot or similar ai movement no matter what "faction" you fight, makes it less enjoyable to do some PvE.

The biggest problem in this game is the quest system. I'm currently trying to do the quests where i have to kill 15 pmc with shotgun, scav vest and chapka on customs, and I've been trying for at least 30 raids to even find someone anywhere else than in the open where i'm at a huge disadvantage. I also can't finish the "kill 5 pmc in dorms" because every single game where I go to dorms and camp it from the start to the end of the raid, not a single pmc comes in. It's really super frustrating to spend 35mn wandering in dorms alone, extract, do it again, and again, and again, only to loot a few chests and weapon cases that I don't need or want. Same for the scav kills on different maps. Since I have the 40 scav kills on interchange, I can't for the love of god find more than 2-3 scavs per raid, even when I run 3 times around the whole map including parkings, the whole mall, scav camp etc. There is no fun in grinding 10 times the same maps for a single easy quest, I don't have 10 hours per day to play so I'd rather not spam interchange for a whole week to find my scav kills. They need to rework the quests to make them more engaging and less of a boring grind. I don't want to tag customs 10 times to even have Reshala in the raid, then I need to check all his spawns to find him, hoping someone didn't kill him before me. Then I need to get the kill, and then I need to escape the raid. And I'll have to do it all over again because I'm playing duo with a friend? Fk those quests man

@@joshmiller9783 I mean, that's bound to happen, same goes for every quest in the game, some people will find their first ledx without searching it, some will spend 100 raids opening every single ledx room in resort and still not have it. The point is, the quest system is made for the people that have 10+ hours to play everyday. There's no way any casual player will ever have Kappa, let alone Lightkeeper's quests, because it's such an insane grind that most people will get bored before reaching it. The problem is, once you get tired of grinding quests, the game instantly becomes dull, and people stop playing until the next wipe. They need something ENGAGING, both for the casuals and the chads. Otherwise you'll see the player count drop by 90% mid wipe every wipe, as it is happening right now.

Unfortunate timing for me. My friends got me into this game late last whipe, so this has been my first prb whipe (only up to lvl 10 last one). I have been questing and excited to get some kills (but mostly just killed), and all im seeing is videos of ppl talking about the game dying and cheaters and blah blah. Im so sad because this is the only tarkov i know, and it seems fun. Would have loved to play it in its prime. Im hoping it rebounds, as im addicted to playing it, but its hard to find people with similar enthusiasm.

This is my 3rd wipe and I still really enjoy the game (but soon you will very much so notice the issues the game has) mostly so cheaters. When you learn what desync is you’ll probably see it on more than half the fights you get into. And I haven’t even played the game before inertia was in the game and I hate it. Best game out tho. You should keep in mind that all these people (streamers) do is play tarkov, 8+ hours a day every day for a living and most of them have been doing it for 5+ years. I don't care how good a game is, you're gonna get sick of it playing that much. Trey's dopamine receptors are fried like a chicken wing lol, if you're a causal player, don't worry about it too much and just have fun with the game.

People usually say the game is dead late wipe. Game has always rebounded with new patches, and it probably will next content patch, so there's not much to worry about. The playercount is pretty stable, but there's just not much new stuff going on, so it's not gonna be as high until something new happens in these next few patches.

At some point it becomes a full time job with the difference no one pays you. My issues? Bugs, bugs, bugs, server crashes, bugs, crashes, instability, cheaters, cheaters, cheaters , did I mention bugs and cheaters? How about the lack of basic movement mechanics for a "hardcore" FPS game? Like vaulting. It genuinely feels like they just haven't really cared about important features or cheating for a really long time. That and Nikita is strangely in love with features that I honestly believe are SPECIFICALLY made to make the game less fun. Guns being so outrageous to control until they recently buffed them and him just flat out admitting he likes how it feels. Despite it being the most unrealistic and painful gun play I've ever seen. I like Tarkov but the """features""" they recently had to reduce due to the massive backlash it feels like they just want it to be as frustrating as possible. Jumping, running, stopping, crouching, and aiming all feel very intentionally poor. P.S anyone who's gonna write "its not meant to be fun" or "its supposed to be hard" just save it. That's a lazy excuse for a GAME that was made to be fun. The nuance of fun is not lost on me but there is a limit to this kinda thing.

Personally, as of about a month and a half into the current wipe, I quit fully because the sheer volume of cheaters. I can forgive the shitty mechanics, or clunkiness, or bugs, but dying to cheaters every other raid is just too much. Completely ruined the game for me, and until there's a strong enough anti-cheat to remedy that, I won't be back.

My opinion is Tarkov is best when its kind of dead lol. Soon as this game becomes high traffic you start to see the ugly nature of how BAD this game can honestly be. When the servers are stressing and hit reg isnt reliable and neither is player synch or hit boxes reliably working. When the games servers arent over stressed the game seems to work halfway reliably. I get probably 3 times less the wtf moments in gunfights when the servers aren't stressing. Tarkov isnt dead lol. Its probably the best state its been in all wipe, simply because so many people are playing other shit right now and the servers arent on fucking fire lol.

Tarkov is a safety game for me every time I get to a low point in my mental health I grind tarkov until I begin to feel better. I haven't played since inertia was added. I have my summer before college and nothing to do. All my friends are busy or in relationships so I am alone with nothing to do. So now I am returning back to grind out tarkov this summer.

i mean, the problem with the game is the community. People yell about how they don't want a content patch, they just want the game fixed...so bsg plans for that, and now people are bitching that there will be no content. BSG is in a no win situation. Streamers are burnt out from no lifing the game for a living, and because of the weird world that we live in, some random level 17 timmy who watches the stream will start parroting that same mindset. This is just some sick reddit/twitch mindset that snowballs. Yea, the game has an assload of problems but its definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. Streamers whining about desync when they die to it, but calling other players shit when they desync them. Every game has desync, thinking tarkov has it the worst is just simply not true. Weird world we live in, twitch and reddit ruins games.

The biggest red flag for me is the fact BSG was denying their game has lots of Cheaters until Goat's video (EU servers are way worst), they rely on account bulk sale which no one else than those who know they gonna get ban would care! - Sound broken af in most places - The longer the wipe goes, the harder people start to rat (at least in EU, its ridicolous at the moment with 6 weeks to go til next wipe) - Everyone thinks he or she is Landmark or Glorious due to Twitch - Hackers (i must admit its kind of ok at the moment compared to feb / march, but anyways) - If you know what you´re doing, you can achieve all mandatory goals per wipe within 4 weeks at the most -> 5 months bored (there are better games for simply killing each other without waiting 15minutes to be able to spawn again) - 50 more issues ...

Wellcome to an everyday job Trey!! You guys grinded the game hard during covid lockdowns when everybody had time to play and consume content it's normal you're feeling burnt out. About the wipe, I think that Unity 21 or 13.1 is wipe in june then 14.0 is wipe on Christmas, it doesn't make sense otherwise.

I am feeling optimistic that it will be fixed soon… i hope so anyways! Im not gonna hold my breath but i hope it will all be fixed based on the roadmap and such but who knows. I dont want what i love and have spent 2.5k hours on to end up dying and fading away into nothing. Either way i feel like ive loved the time ive spent on this and made lots of cool friends that i still play other games and such with so i dont regret my time spent here. Also found this cool community even if i dont come around as much as id like. Either way though they will fix it or they wont… we will see and move on from there!

I think it depends where you are. In england, our servers are good as cheater free and lovely, tarkov is still so popular, less than 3min raid loading times. It looks like in america its all gone horribly.

BSG will do exactly what they did with Contract Wars. They hammer out a bunch of unfinished content, stall for time, farm as much cash from the player base, then declare the game finished and move on to the next scam...I mean next game.

They likely still have the same core software engineers, if they even have those guys, cause they may be digging holes and hiding from drones in Ukraine. No new engineering excellence that can change the finger in the dike methods they use will appear to save them.

As a new player with less than 150 hours I have been killed by non-stop cheaters experiences being shot through walls and have ridiculous Ricochet is hit me out of nowhere. I've had to reset my account twice in order to get the base amount of rubles because all my rubles disappear to hackers. Ive permanently quit today...

@@terrFW thats not the point. Bug fixing is a done and dead topic at this point. the primary issue is grind. Game is becoming too time consuming to get anything done unless youre a streamer who has 8+ hours a day.

I quit tarkov this wipe at least for now. After 6 wipes I can’t take it with the grind it’s the same thing and they keep making it more and more lucrative and difficult and it’s reached a point where i don’t have time to play at all. You can’t buy the guns or attachments you want and even if you can half of the time the ammo is pretty unavailable. I love this game but it ain’t heading in the right direction as of now .

The problem with Tarkov right now is people don't play the game like they used to. 90% of the game community now consists of campers and extract campers. The game is not enjoyable me and my friend are sick and tired of the way it is now. There's still plenty of cheaters. When you spawn in with a REAP-IR and a guy appears within in 2 minutes of the raid starting to instantly head eye both of us when we're in a bush.

Hot take: Trey24k, 2Lew, Landmark, Klean, Toothy, all good reasons why tarkov is losing player base. Play the game more chill and the game will go back to what it was. Devs, rats, and cheaters are not the problem. Games like tf2, csgo, rust and many others have been dealing with all bad devs, cheaters, and shitty playstyles for years, but they still top the steam charts every year and are loved, stop bringing meta and sweaty play styles in to the game, and just genuinely chill out when you play and the game becomes 100% better.

Ive done atleast maybe around 2-3 wipes? and around level 36-45 i just get fed up i cant compete i cant spend hours a day grinding away on the same quests on the same maps using the same guns and builds i try and meme around to spice it up and doing out pocket kits but it just feels meh. im not a seasoned player in my opinion and just yesterday i was on interchange and got killed by an invisible man who was on the stairs i was on. hours wasted grinding for a kit and a good and for levels just too loose it all, i love tarkov so much but i just feel like a toxis relationship.

Riot devs have come out and announced that 20-25% of all Valorant players are cheating. It's harder and more expensive to get cheats for Valorant than Tarkov. So it's easy to presume that a higher percentage are cheating on Tarkov. That's simply just too many cheaters to take the game seriously and grind away at progression. Its just pointless. Extraction shooters have the highest incentive to cheat over any other type of online game. Even more than Battle Royal. If you're not cheating on Tarkov, you are the minority.

true brother i remember when we used to get events like every other week or at least one a month we havent had a wipe where we get good events in years tbh. they have reverted to only doing events at the end of wipe and it just makes the game bland events like the extreme heat while may only inconvience you it still changed the playstyle a bit they could of gone further with it and made it so no flea or trader sold water forcing players to either go loot food areas something thats seldom done at late game or wait in thheir stash for recovery. but here we are 4 months into the wipe with not a single event heard or done. no tagilla on other maps no killa on customs nothing thhat has gave the game variety which forces players to create their own fun especially those that are burnt out of questing and this is better done is 1000 other games where if you die you dont permanently lose everything. They havea lot of self reflection and healing to do imo to make thhe game fun and enjoyable and not only that worth your time.

I quit tarkov becuase of the whole "economy" stuff. I hate sorting garbage to go to a trader and buy everything... Less loot(but higher avg value), no traders, less stats on attachments and more on guns and I will gladly come back. Until that happens GL fellas, but I am not rushing traders for 6th time.

It's clear to me that Nikita doesn't play his own game. He has no idea what the state of his game is anymore. The incentive to do tasks has been diminished because they don't want 'meta' weapons, ammo, and armor to be as available. This has been done to help increase the time to kill and diversify the loot you get from players. On that note the incentive for pvp has been non existent for wipes now and with the game not functioning properly (desync and what not) it is less enjoyable to get into fights as a whole. So without tasks, loot or pvp why on earth would I even bother playing this game? I have less of a problem with cheaters and more of a problem with how they are dealing with them. It feels like they make so much money from them that whenever they need money they just do a ban wave that cause more cheaters to rebuy the game. Only recently have they had to actually address the issue and they haven't don't anything different to address it. They have just been more vocal. Their ban waves mean nothing. It just shows they are printing money. Then they release streets which has been teased forever now and it is such a poorly executed map that boils down to fights being localized around 3 buildings and no real vantage points over looking those buildings so it becomes another version of customs dorms battles instead of roof to roof or building to building style fighting. For years of teasers, I don't see years of work. They need to stop adding useless guns, and start focusing entirely on map design cause they truly dropped the ball this wipe. Also, historically the second wipe of the year is worse so we are looking at another year before this game makes a comeback.

I think it’s in a dead state with hackers they come in waves because they do a ban way then put the game on sale. The amount of times people hack, and can do it for hours before being banned ruins the game. I grinded my way up, got a red key card just to have a hacker glitch a grenade inside the red room to kill me. The content would be there and be fun with legit players, but not knowing if you died to someone who is using radar, esp, or anything else ruins the fun.

I agree. I’ve been saying this on stream since the roadmap came out. The roadmap indicates a very long wipe, or we have A LOT in store for us till end of June ish. I also say that they could wipe with the unity transition, but I don’t think a no content wipe would bode well for the community in this current state

This is my 2nd wipe now and I am very close to getting Kappa but I cant get shooter born done any more on like reserve and streets and its lame since I dont really see anyone run around anymore. For reserve everyone just goes to pvp underground now. For streets it sucks so much since if you dont get a good spawn then its now worth even sniping on that map since there arent many good sniper spots. Now im not sure if I want to get it, right now im just trying to enjoy the pvp.

What made me quit this wipe is the light filters. Someone takes time to fix lights but they spend time making your game unplayable if you have them even though you can use nvidia filters to get the same thing but they seem to take their time on the real issues. The way I look at the goat video is yeah it shined a light on cheaters but we’ve been playing with cheaters for years and there’s no reason to be up in arms about it

Some suggestions of what I think would give fresh air to this game: -Take the weight system down or severely nerfed it to the point it does not affect inertia or how fast your stamina depletes; -End the found in raid status for non-quest items, since if you find something valuable in raid you can simply guard in your container and continue with the raid since you managed to secure some cash for a new gear in case you get dunked. Also, bear in mind that this would bring back the hatchling problem, but in my sincere opinion, the trade-off is far more advantageous than a bunch of naked dudes running around desperately to a high loot zone where the chances are that this guy will be laid down before even coming close to it; -Make the value of weapons and gear obtained in raid higher, since nowadays killing someone and looting them can be worst and actually not worth it compared to going from a high-value loot zone to high loot value zone; -Buff spawn of high-end ammunition, going from raid to raid only finding PRS or PS bullets can be very frustrating; -Select some specific quests and shuffle them which wipe, making every game reset unique since you can have an entirely different quest line than the previous one, while this can appear to not do much, trust me it would add that variety that early wipe lacks; -Rebalance said maps: Shoreline and lighthouse. Both are a shitshow of balance, making spawn dictates how your raid will go, making you either the lucky guy who will go to the best spots for loot and pvp in the early game, however, the opposite is true, you can be the unlucky one who will only get scraps or worse will be one tapped from far away from one of the previous group; -Erase some skills such as mag drills, since having a skill only for dictating how fast you reload mags is ridiculous; -Buff stamina and nerf its depletion, you are a trained hardened soldier, however, you run one minute and you are dying out of breath, the same can be said of strength, carrying a backpack one simple body armor and a gun can deplete 25% of the stamina bar. While many can argue that would make the game more "arcade" I can see their point, however, the game as it is is not fun, and many of its attempts to emulate reality end up not only being the opposite of fun but not realistic.

i just played till lvl 40 or so in the first 1,5 months and havent touched tarkov since.. this wipe felt really bad to me. The audio especially in the beginning was so terrible i couldnt even really play the game. Then the invisible player stuff every other raid and the standard desync + cheaters just did it for me. I havent even thought about playin it since february. Hope it gets fixed tho, tarkov has the potential to be the best fps by far imo

my biggest issue is more just the performance and connection that gets fixed then i’ll play the game way more than i ever have the cheaters don’t bother me as much as others but i cannot excuse the performance when i barley get 90 on customs with a 3080
