The temtem devs started teasing something on discord, after I put this video together. So far we don't know a lot, but some theories are that it may include overworld encounters, which tbh wouldn't bring many people back on its own, but others are saying that it might be this new game that was mentioned in the video, and perhaps it's part of the temtem universe, or at least a crossover promo like they do in COD when a new game is coming. Only time will tell, but I hope that it means the future for the franchise is bright, rather than dim.

@exocitus873110 ай бұрын
The thing is: Temtem was designed since the beginning to be a MMO, or at least a MMO-like, the problem is that the devs didn't properly wanted to implement some features and just used the MMO tag to justify live service monetization but if you asked for content it would be another whole discussion for then because "the game is not really a MMO and you can't ask us to make content as such". And even the systems that could be linked to a MMO they would make decisions that made those system unbearable grind, meaningless or just unfun if was not trying to make the game an eSports.

Personally, I didn't mind the breeding system in Temtem as I liked the fertility system they had going for it as it fit the MMO market and structure. If you could breed them infinitely you would have an overflow of Tems that are good, since the Trade House was also a good place to get good parents from if you needed. My biggest gripe with the whole thing though, which caused most of the eggs to be ridiculous expensive on the Trade house, is that they increased the cost of breeding. The Strands and everything, as well as the timers to hatch the eggs were ridiculous! That's why I personally dropped out of Temtem as the one thing I liked to do (Breed Tems and sell them on Trade House) wasn't sustainable in the long run.

@@armando92We used to have this exact argument all the time since the beginning of EA and were constantly told its "end game" content. Not the game only has 1-2 islands and therefore not much else to aim for, they fully intended cosmetics to be something mostly for showing off when there's little left to do besides PvP and battle facilities. They viewed it as its own game play loop. Which was kinda the main problem with the game, everything had to be treated like its own niche to dedicate time to, probably to facilitate the battle pass and mtx in hindsight.

When I played the economy was trash so it hasn’t changed? Sad. I remember the only clothes that were affordable at all were ugly and basic things. But a lot of the more expensive stuff was also not that special either it was pretty basic t shirts and such but impossibly expensive. And the idea of a group that pays for people to free Temtem just makes no sense. As that encourages the capture in the first place. Maybe if it was “you’ve personally leveled up this Temtem 10 times so freeing it makes money” would make narrative sense but would be awful gameplay wise (for the most part). It’s odd. I had a more favourable opinion on the game earlier on even when I quit despite not liking changes to appearance rates of shinies in the wild. But over time I just landed on “why was this online?” And I think at the time I was a bit defensive over people criticizing that element and in retrospect I was a bit naive for doing so. The biggest problem about Temtem for me is that most of the time when the devs did something OR didn't do something, all I could say was "WHY". My favorite examples as a massive shiny hunting nerd are that they made Umbras - which I think are super cool as a concept - completely exclusive to the postgame, meaning I cannot use them for a story playthrough as I vastly prefer doing it, and more recently, the fact that changing the TemCard one of your monsters is in costs 250 Luma Drops, meaning you have to *literally sacrifice a shiny to change a damn TemCard*. That being said, I've read somewhere on Reddit that there will be an offline version of Temtem when the servers go down. There's certainly potential there; let's hope they won't mess it up. Let's also hope it'll be possible to mod the offline version, we might see some cool hacks then.

Yep. Some truly perplexing decisions. And their response to a lot of community suggestions is that they are technically limited and their systems won't allow them to do that. Well who designed the systems in the first place? So much potential for a Pokemon-like MMO, but they just don't have any desire to take advantage of that potential beyond trying to monetize everything.
@IceFireofVoid10 ай бұрын
Tfw devs start a big thread where community members can vote for their most wanted QoL changes for 1.6, claiming it to be the QoL update, only to add...4 QoL changes. One of which, the expanded emote wheel, only benefits players who buy additional emotes in the daily rotating microtransactions shop. BTW they took an extra month to make this update and it has the least features of any update, is just as buggy as the past patches and comes with events, the separate Showdown client and the championships being canceled. The Showdown Client itself truly was one of the decisions ever. They delayed the arcade bar which was supposed to launch in 1.4 to 1.7 in order to make a SPECIAL SECRET FEATURE. This was Showdown as a separate app. They did zero advertising for it. They didn't hype it up. They actively went out of their way to keep it a secret. So nobody ended up knowing it exists and nobody downloaded it. It also had next to no tutorials and forced newcomers to fight experienced players in PvP so the few people who tried Temtem via Showdown first did not stick around. Obviously the application failed averaging between 0 and 3 players daily with rare peaks of 10 to 20 players (which we figured out was a shady club doing dubious things). When it became obvious Showdown was a flop, they walked back their previous statements about it being the reason for the arcade bar delay saying "plenty of things contributed to the delay and it didn't have anything to do with Showdown" which directly contradicted their statements prior to 1.4 going live. You could also get in trouble on the discord for mentioning Showdown's poor performance and they kicked dozens of players off the discord on the day they made the announcement of Showdown shutting down.

I think your comment at the end about devs not focusing only on PVP hits the nail on the head. A friend and I went through the main campaign of Temtem and had a blast, we often talked about looking forward to our schedules matching so we could play some more. But we haven't played in almost a year now after we finished the campaign because there wasn't anything PVE to do together afterward. The final nail in the coffin for me was a combination of how grindy the game was for currency, and their constant need to balance Temtem for competitive. I enjoy shiny hunting Pokemon, so Lumas were really appealing to me. But when I saw how expensive radars were, how hard feathers were to earn, and an initial streak of bad luck that saw me use almost 15 radars without a luma I just gave up on that aspect. During all that I spent a bunch of time, pansuns, and effort to create a competitive team to take on the gym leader rematches to get more feathers. It took so much effort just to get a team that could sort of do it. Then they did a big balance update for PVP and broke it all. Everything I had worked for was gone and I was back to square one with no more currency. The team I built to help level up Temtem was broken, and my gym leader team didn't work anymore either. It was just so frustrating. I do really hope the devs learn from Temtem in future games. There was so much potential here but like so many other games, the allure of a live service cash flow and thought that everyone loves PVP just ruined it all.

As an elder of Temtem's PvP scene, what I think a ton of the people analyzing the "overfocus" on PvP miss is the ways in which Temtem's development fundamentally neglected the PvP players as well. While they were given *attention*, they were consistently not given *respect*. Balance changes that were obvious needs to the high level players (and frequently requested) were routinely ignored for literal years in favor of out-of-touch and ineffective changes that felt almost like obstinate defiance of players' feedback. Devs were regularly rude or dismissive on Discord. It wasn't just that PvP was focused on- it was that PvP was focused on in Crema's usual vaguely arrogant and dismissive manner, sabotaging the very basket they placed their eggs in.

Backed this game. Picked it up around the first playable Betas, I think. If I remember correctly, I was able to identify each and every problem mentioned in this video before the game went live. I tried bringing them up in the Discord SEVERAL times in the feedback room, from what I can remember. I was banned for "toxicity" and had a dev tell me--to my face, in the public chat--that if I didn't like the game, I could just refund it and leave. Which. Wow. I expect to hear that from a 12 year old, not an actual, grown adult. So to hear that the devs are both stubborn and hyper resistant to feedback *and* that these fundamental issues caused the game's decline is not at all a surprise to me. It's just kinda sad to me how much of it could have been seen coming and course corrected for in time. I think I can remember a few of the issues I brought up. Lightning round! -Game world is mostly hallways, directing players down a narrow path that they end up using only a handful of times -Players constantly pulled into instanced battles, removing them from the people and world around them -No incentive for players to do activities together casually or spontaneously, you need to be invited to a co-op group and that was just one additional player, I think. The rest is competitive endgame stuff -Too beholden to Pokemon's systems to its detriment. For example, EVs and IVs were designed to be hidden mechanics; Pokemon only works with those these days since a total refactor of how stats work would be too disruptive for relatively little benefit. -Shiny hunting does not qualify as content. Nothing for players to DO that's not PvP or story progression And a whole lot more that I can't remember off the top of my head. But yeah, Temtem makes the same mistake as those fan Pokemon MMOs do: just taking the games and plopping a ton of people into the same world with no regard of how that changes the dynamics of it all. It's one thing for fans to drop the ball, but for a professional company? I'm a little appalled by how little they thought through the core concept of it before going full steam ahead.

I'm reminded of Path of Exile, a primarily PvE focused game with a tiny PvP side to it. The devs at one point tried to focus on PvP as they were old-school and enjoyed PvP in older games of the same genre, but realized quickly that the audience was too small and so they pivoted to large PvE content updates every couple of months and the game has seen massive and consistent success since.

Great video, I think sums up most of the sentiment of the community. And I got say, most of those problems are indeed because of the devs choices and stubbornness, at the 1.0 there was a huge influx of comments saying how bad the decision of not launching new Tems or Islands was, about how bad for a paid (and expensive for it's genre) game to have both battlepass AND a cosmetic paid store, which is a little better now but had a huge discrepancy of how much paid cosmetics were in the game to the free ones, and don't even get me started on the grind and PvE that people claimed for years and nothing comes out, but the devs will say that they add plenty of PvE content into the game. Aside of all that the constants discussions between the devs or the community manager with the people playing the game, with all boiling down to the devs being rude, condescending and banning people that had criticism of the game made all this into too much, even with the possible game coming out I don't expect to see many people buying into it because of how low the reputation of Crema is right now, I at least would not spend a dime on any game that Crema launch in the future and I would for sure not support them in a Kickstarter anymore.
@GymLeaderEd10 ай бұрын
Whenever people say 'they added tons of PvP' its so disingenuous IMO. the 1.5 patch which was the big pve patch added one route and raid Mon which was part of the kickstarter so always planned, it added easy mode for gym rematches, so not a new feature, it added rarer shines, which by that logic I can introduce 1 in a million shines and the game has 'endless content', they added randomizer mode which already existed but was tied to nuzlocke mode and just some qol. There's no fun end game pve loop. Tamers paradise can only be played once a day unless u wanna shell out money, raids give u the same egg over and over, shiny hunting is in almost every monster taming game, etc. I don't see the need for an mmo here. @@GymLeaderEd I had this same argument with the dev TMT on discord when I said that the game didn't had any major PvE update since launch and he said that the last update had lots of PvE features on it, they still don't seem to get that QOL or introducing already promised content from Kickstarter is not "new features", I made at least 4 or 5 threads on feedback and suggested content for mid and end-game content based on a lot of other games, even on PokeMMO which could be used by them for inspiration since their main feature is being a MMO, got some answers basically saying that they would look at it or the CM saying that the devs didn't had time to look at those threads and that was it, this is also something that was made clear with that whole "cam toggle" feature that they waited more than 6 months to add a feature that was already in the game and they removed because they wanted people to be forced to use a feature that many had motion sickness. It was really using MMO just for the marketing and to justify the live service features (battlepass, cosmetic shop) but never to add new content, it's really sad as a kickstarter supporter.

I've said this before: Temtem needs to be single player. It can have online battles and trading even without the MMO aspect. It fails on being a MMO because you can't just team up to explore with several friends. The best you could do was having ONE friend with you and you were actively punished with less experience overall if you teamed up (I don't know if they ever fixed that). Also, MMOs need big updates CONSTANTLY. Meaning new areas and, yes, new MONSTERS, which is something they flat out refuse to do.

I'm not sure how much I am allowed to speak on this and I think it is important information to share. I've been in the community active on the Discord since the first stress tests. A consistent issue I noticed and the biggest thing standing in the way of progress is ego. Ego and this weird spitefulness/resentment that seems to come from those under the Crema banner. I've never before seen a community for any game where there was so much open hostility from the dev team. I always wanted to give the benefit of the doubt because the company is small and the game is ambitious, but over time, I can't find thr good will I was looking for. The same mistakes are being repeated over and over for 4 years now. The remaining players are being denigrated on a regular basis. I have seen Crema staff direct insults at specific players. Calling them clowns, ignorant, delusional...They vent about their disdain for their own consumerbase on their public socials. This sort of behavior is the main thing that prevents me from recommending the game. I can't in good conscience financially support people who are unwilling to deliver even the bare minimum while openly hating their own customers. It would take immense effort on Crema's part to regain trust from their hardcore players who have witnessed this pattern of behavior for years and seen it only get worse over time.

@DrawciaGleam02 I think this definitely contributed. A lot of the original popularity of Temtem in early access was people on the Pokemon hate bandwagon. I've been playing since the first stress tests and I honestly never thought the game was super good like it was fine and fun, but people were constantly going on about how it was "Pokemon but better" and put the game on this pedestal, ignoring all the flaws of the game just for the sake of having their Pokemon killer. People were just approaching the game from a place of willful ignorance. The timing of Temtem alongside Sword and Shield's dexit announcement was miraculous. I don't think Temtem would have ever caught on if it had come out at any other time. It all worked together to inflate the ego of the team working on the game, though afaik, it had always been pretty bad. Very early on there was a substantial problem with false bans and Crema firmly believed in their systems and did not even consider player appeals for a fairly long time. They would just respond with "you know why you were banned". And though false bans have not been a problem for a very long time, this attitude of "our systems are always right and the players are wrong" has persisted. It is still ongoing to this day with aspects of the game that are suspected by the players to not be working as intended, with a lot of documented information from the very dedicated members of the community, only for Crema to always respond with "our systems say it works so it works" despite many many many instances throughout the years of their systems in place being flat out incorrect.

The only problem I see with the game is that it is neither a single player game nor an MMO but it has components of both concepts that weigh each other down. As a single player game, it's very cool until you finish the story and the MMO economy limits everything you can do. On the other hand, as an MMO game, there is no new content that encourages you to return to the game. And expanding content was very easy, they simply had to design a new archipelago and claim that due to new advances in aeronautics, signs of their existence had been found or that what happened at the end of history caused them to be discovered by another archipelago and that this archipelago invaded them or something like that... Or an expedition that seeks to descend to investigate the state of the surface.

They are focusing too much on the balance or the competitive scene than the game that people paid for.

Aww. I'm sad to hear that Temtem didn't survive its launch. But yeah, as an outsider Temtem was always a MMO. How do you have a MMO without new PvE updates? That's highly illogical. And it sounds like the developers just didn't want to add more PvE content, opposed to NOT being able to. I hope they release a Temtem 2 in the future and tone down on the MMO aspects; clearly they aren't able to support a MMO. But the designs of the monsters and the trainers were nice. Though I never truly loved the art style of Temtem. Maybe they should go for a more anime aesthetic. Or maybe more realistic proportions for the humans.

@typhir591110 ай бұрын
I feel like they handicapped themselves by outright saying that no new exploration zones or temtems would ever be added to the game. That's not something an MMO or a game that states that it is an MMO does. I did enjoy my time with Temtem, but there isn't anything for a PvE player like me to DO in the game after the story is beaten. I don't chase lumas because of the time commitment needed to even get them to show up and PvP is far beyond my meager skill level when I needed to look up guides on how to defeat the dojo masters on repeat for the paltry amount of pansuns they give. I have full teams of temtems leveled to 100 for more stuff that will never come to the game. In raids you don't even use your team, which I find completely baffling because these sorts of games are suppose to be about the monster tamer working in tandem with their team of monster friends to overcome obstacles. What is the point when I get randomly assigned a team of temtems in a raid? The elimination of events just feels like the game is winding down. It's pretty sad to see the game in its current state. The devs could have done so much with the concept, but hard focusing on PvP isn't it. We have seen multiple games even outside of the monster taming genre do this. Guild Wars 2 attempted to make their PvP modes an esport back in 2013 and it completely failed. PvP has its niche especially in Pokemon-esque titles like Temtem, but they should had made an effort to balance that with more PvE content to keep the casual playerbase playing.
@TEQTONIKK8 ай бұрын
I started playing on 1.0 release and I dumped 1,7k hours into it. I reached Legends pvp rank and catched and perfected a lot of Lumas. What temtem is missing are actual coop activities like in the endgame area, make housing like animal crossing, bring tem specific events like outbreaks or events or something, .... The grind for Lumas alone is actually not worth it for casual players. As the player count is sinking more and more it's even harder to get currency in the auction house and feathers are to hard to obtain (if you don't grind once again pvp or boring endgame activities again and again) Temtem had and still has so much potential for great ideas (the lack of new temtem is not the main problem). Pvp is still the most enjoyable thing for me but if that and catching Lumas (eventually) and perfecting them (to flex in pvp, cause you can not really sell them anymore to other players cause there are not enough who can afford them or already have them) or catching umbras (to once again flex on pvp or in the overworld) is the only thing you can do the game gets boring sooner or later. It makes me sad what the game is like and how the developers are not trying to make the game more enjoyable or something like that. I think crema should sell the game and all developement stuff to a motivated studio which want to use temtems full potential. After fixing all the stuff and content and currency problems, they should the game more (with a tcg or an anime). That's my wish for the game. Thank you for your time if you reached the bottom of my monolog xD

Looking at other comments, I feel super out of place but Temtem was the first game ever in the monster tamer genre because I never owned any consoles.. at the time this was the only game that (to my knowledge) was on PC. I saw Pokemon TV series as a kid, and my biggest wish was to do what Ash did, compete against others. So I guess you can say I'm the "small fraction" of the Temtem player base as it has drawn me in mostly because of online PvP. I know Pokemon Showdown exists, but that's just a browser game there are no animations or anything it's super bare bones and I can't get over that.. I love the visuals of Temtem, far better than any Pokemon game I've seen so that combined with online PvP that is available on PC is great mixture for me. But from all these comments I see that people don't want this stuff in Temtem at all which makes me really sad, I do a lot of luma/umbra hunting as well but I'm collecting them so I can show them off in PvP matches not for the sake of collection. My biggest issue with the game are the game breaking bugs and the ones that impact the game very negatively on the PvP and in 2023 we had almost every patch come out with those, and they took a very long time to fix
@IceFireofVoid10 ай бұрын
People do want the PvP. That's not the issue. The issue is that they neglected all the other aspects of the game for the sake of PvP, while also disrespecting their PvP players. They failed to grow the game organically and it screwed over everyone. PvP is always a tiny fraction of these sorts of games and the active players won't grow until you grow the whole game first. They refused to see this. On a side note, if you were ever active on the discord, the community manager would deliberately say things to make the PvE and PvP players dislike each other and not want to talk. I have a screenshot somewhere of her telling the PvP chat that what they are complaining about is actually loved by people in the other chats. This was a blatant lie. Everyone had been complaining about the same things. The PvE people thought we were being sidelined for the PvP golden children. The PvP players thought the same of us. Turns out they were just listening to nobody and respected nobody.

And the fact the even rarer shinies are legit just purple smokey was not worth the wait, it really was not. Add a battle frontier or something that changes out every week or month, something for those who don't want to just pvp. Also they need to stop increasing the price on shop items, the angel wings were legit 1100 novas but was changed to 2200 novas the 3rd time it was placed in the shop rotation, that is greedy as heck

The weird thing is that they just dont lean into making it an MMO. From the start they said there wouldnt be any expansions... Which is what turned off a lot of people. People do not even want them to rush expansions, but just the outlook of eventual expansions would keep players active. There's guaranteed financial succes there. But there's just nothing to do, the game is a single player game with extremely minimal interaction with other players. There's PvP, but how different is PvP from PvE? You're still just fighting, sure, your opponent uses much better tactics and all that, but we don't really interact with eachother. There's trading, which with the complex breeding system resulted in a bustling community for a while, but that's it. I played this game a lot, I grinded untill I had a full perfect luma Temtem and I love him, but the fact that there is just nothing to look forward to is what prevents people from actually sticking to this game

I still think making Temtem an always-online game was a massive mistake. I understand that it came from a need for a Pokémon MMO, but if anything it proves that an always-online Pokémon game adds next to nothing to the formula besides lame monetization schemes. Playing Temtem only made me want to play Pokémon again, which I did for hundreds of hours. I think there's one simple thing they need to do to succeed somehow, which they won't: an offline mode. Better yet, shut down the servers and make Temtem a purely offline single-player experience with maybe some optional P2P co-op to make more sense of the 2v2 battles and online trading a la Pokémon's GTS. This would have to come with major rebalancing of the economy and, God forbid, cosmetics that you can acquire just by playing the game that don't cost a leg and and an arm, but that's sure to bring a lot more people back. At this point though, if I want a linear story-driven monster-taming game in a 3D environment, I'll go back to gen 7 Pokémon. I know it's controversial, but I had a lot more fun with gen 7 than I did Temtem.

Bought it on switch and enjoyed it but the requirement of it being online is its own worst enemy. Give me the option to login for dailies and certain features that provide exceptional rewards and on the flip side have those same modes be available offline with similar rewards just make it a little grindy. Offline mode is literally a way to save the game rn

Yeah, Ed typically knwos what he is talking about in Monstertaming, but that whole claim of leading to these other better games is comepletely unfounded. Temetm got a sizable initial hype, but then quickly fell off over time in both reputation and attention. And it was initially successful but absoluetlely nothing suggests it cteated a opening or inspiration for any of those other games from my knowledge, espically Palworld.

I have well over 2000 hours in temtem. The bloated end game has a bunch of different modes that let you battle for meaningless grinds. The PvP aspect of the game and Luma (shiny) hunting became the only real endgame. The game needs more real content, not reskinned modes of "Here something that isn't your team". The leveling of the game is the best part of it. -TemtemTebow

Temtem takes the worst aspects of MMOs, the grindy and awful tactics to drag out as much player retention as possible. They leave out the best aspects of MMOs like extra content. They're going to milk the game until it's no longer profitable and they're not interested in anything besides that. Crema checked out a long time ago. It really did and does have huge potential. The game could be so amazing if it were backed by a team that cared. Such a shame.

If you're on second island you have access to the breeding center. If you breed a wild tem and use the level 1 baby, it will evolve earlier than the wild tems. Breeding is also skewed to favor the higher stats so on average the baby will be better than its parents.

To be honest, I'll always hate that Temtem help to spread a lot of recent Pokémon rip offs. The genre has a lot to offer, but this games and others like Nexomon are Pokémon re-skinned, which usually do not work for me. I hope that more games try to do the things that Cassette Beast did instead of following Temtem's example.

Temtem looks fun and great but personally, I wasn't willing to spend $40+ for a MMO when I could buy a single player game for the same amount or less and then get to play it offline while a mmo will be unplayable after a server shutdown. Imo, temtem wasn't worth what they were asking for and it should've been in $20 - $30 range.

I've dabbled in both major aspects of the game (PVE/PVP) and I wanted to discuss a few points you made around pvp. The whole pay2win concern is something I can get from the developer standpoint, although you're entirely right that it was a bit of a cop out- the insane prices they charge for cosmetics with effectively no content being added to the game, they could have at least attempted to add a few creatures every season or so. Also, the whole 'but it's cross platform! Concurrent players aren't accurate" Yeah we know it's not entirely accurate, but it paints a picture and we can make realistic assumptions to what the playerbase is like. Not to mention certain members of crema refusing to budge on problems that nearly every player (from both major gameplay styles) agree is a problem. I do believe some of the balancing changes that are added are healthy for the game (Oceara losing water blade, vulffy losing sludge gift, etc.), although a lot of people voice complaints over losing tools. People voiced enough complaints to where the updates adjusting stuff also hurts PvP directly now, so no one is actually getting meaningful content anymore. The game being insanely buggy since 1.4, and 1.5 being horrendous effectively killed the PvP playerbase due to crema not adjusting anything, and not looking for bugs and such. There's so much more to talk about, but this unfortunate outcome is something Crema did entirely to themselves, and I hope they learn to improve from it. I doubt many people are going to return to games they create after the disaster that Temtem's life cycle was.

I'm honestly really sad about TemTem. It felt like everything I wanted in a Pokemon MMO, but then it leaned into all the things I disliked about Pokemon. It double downed on IV's super-super-hard, and the fertility thing was just disgusting in how it limited your breeding abilities. It all forced, _FORCED_ , you to go down the route of PVP and made PVE only players suffer because they-or at least, I-felt like they were playing a PVE game in a PVP world. I've said this about so many monster taming games, and I'll say it here: If grabbing your monsters is the hardest part of the process you're doing it wrong. That should be the easiest. Getting your cool looking, powerful, little guy feels great but if getting them is the ENTIRE process then your game means nothing once you have it. If getting it is just the start, it pushes the barrier to entry to near impossible standards. Temtem is no exception in this. The game's pvp should be revolved around strategy, knowledge, and out-thinking your opponent. Yet if you wanted your perfect cool-lookin Tem, you're basically given limited chances. Fertility doesn't just drain your parent, it makes your child less fertile too? The whole game feels like it's abritrarily choking me in a vice grip because PVP is a thing that exists. You can tell me "You don't need it in single player" but who cares, every little bit of gameplay this game has still feels like I'm being choked simply because of all the PVP they're trying to push. It _FEELS_ like I'm running around in a PVP world that begrudgingly has PVE. Also, as a counterargument to that idea, this is an MMO. Why ISN'T there raids and end game content that would need nearly max-stat Tems to handle with players? In EVERY _SUCCESSFUL_ MMO that I know of the game has you get the BEST THINGS to fight the HARDEST CONTENT, why is this game treated like it's a Pokemon-at-home pve session? Why is it "so easy dude, just play it casually." Why can't I be hardcore about this game as a PVE player. Why is there no content that truly rewards this in a way players find enjoyable. If you say there is, the numbers don't like: There isn't. If there is, there isn't _enough_ of it, not even close. It's moments like these where I'm glad a game died. I am saddened for the players who worked hard on the game and love it, but it's a message that needs to be sent out to other games. Make a game that's fun, that's accessible, and listen to people when they ask for things. Make a game for the people who buy it, not a game that has to be your vision or bust. Swallow some pride sometimes, and make a game everyone wants to play rather than just you.
@gicrueldad952010 ай бұрын
Fertility is appropiate, is still works as an MMO, the Auction House and the Temtem Market works BECAUSE the fertility system limits you. There is no hacking in Temtem but 0 reasons to remove fertility only to have everyone own 1 perfect Mimit, and breed perfects with it, now that´s boring and pointless for a game that plays like an MMO. The problems with the game come from totally different places and reasons.
@GFCOLCQuote10 ай бұрын
@gicrueldad9520 While I cannot say more than I have experience-alongside my friends-it's how I felt when I played the game. It felt like a PvP world that was holding me by the neck to play it by its PvP rules. I cannot deny that its been a while since I played the game, and thus my opinions come from a very out-of-date era, but the game fell flat to me because of how much it restricted the bare stats to incredibly painful grindy nonsense to dump money into breeding. It just felt very hallow. I do understand that the Fertility needs to exist because of how the game functions, but the game is holding itself to leaning into all the flaws Pokemon had instead of becoming something new and its own. Maybe I'm a minority, but *going through an arbitrary process to get your random values all maximized* doesn't feel like fun growth in which I challenge myself to get better things to challenge myself to get better things, it feels like a crossbreed between a chore and hitting my head against a wall. I'm not saying Fertility should exist in this game, because the game was built for it to exist, but rather I'm saying the game's foundation/fundimentals are already flawed. At least with a game like Coromon, the shinies are tied to the IV's, so by unlocking more stats you also unlock skins. I feel like if TemTem went a route similar to that, at least cross breeding with this type of system could have at least felt like you were unlocking a brand new design in the process making it worth it more than stats.

To be honest, I loved Temtem (I backed it and have played since the early alphas) but Crema did a terrible job at taking in feedback on topics that matter. Crema made so many terrible decisions design-wise such as sacrificing gameplay for "economy" and basically serving the game dead on arrival due to their take on new content. If Crema listened to the playerbase, I genuinely believe the game could have laster much longer. Temtem truly had phenomenal potential. If you aren't going to deliver on the MMO aspect, then don't gut the player experience for a bullshit "economy". Said economy, that is still worse than any other MMO I have ever played. Don't even get me started on YaW (main dev). They have outed themselves as a shitty dev multiple times. I will not support Crema moving forward and I suggest anyone who is interested in either Temtem or Crema's future endeavors take a look into the way they talk about their playerbase.

I finally played TemTem last year and its pretty alright, all the battles being double battles helped it feel more strategic than most monster taming games, but at the same time the stamina system hurt the difficulty a lot, get a Tem with a stamina drain skill and you're set for all of the game. I played over 50% of it co-op a friend and that was really fun, something I wish pokemon would do in a colosseum-like game. Can't comment on the end game since I stopped at the end, but it didn't seem very inviting for a casual-ish player.

Tbh I was getting so much fun from it a year ago, bought one of the battlepasses and found my self in a situation where the battle pass missions would only unlock after finishing story, which meant that if i wanted to get everything in the battlepass I had to rush the story, instead of enjoying it at my own pace, even capturing every temtem i could to max the exp over a weekend wasnt enough of a pace to get all of the BP rewards, which basically threw me off the game permanently since. I must have just a few more dojos before the endgame, but honestly I have no intention of playing the game after getting ripped off like that.

I was interested in TemTem since it's release but never got around to buying it until it showed up on Humble Monthly, I gave it a try then and playing through the main story felt like a total slog, events and new features weren't available since I was doing the story, I was getting constant trainer battles and instead of discovering new TemTem or evolutions myself I was seeing them through the wave of trainers. I can't remember the story so I can't say anything about that but it couldn't have been interesting if I literally cannot remember it.
@CloverJade10 ай бұрын
When it comes to the Events I'm just glad that they removed them. Yes, it is sad for not getting items you have to work for, but every Event had the same tasks we already have to do for Weekly Quests with no variation what so ever. The only good quest was the one where you had to search for Event-related objects across the Archipelago. Also there were only 50 Points (one small quest) to spare which they only did so non PvP players could get all rewards, yet I suggested way back then that 100 points would be better, so everyone has the choice to skip either 2 small or one middle quests. I cannot speak for the PvE community, but even the PvP scene (which is small like you mentioned, but it's still worth noting) is dying. After TemCS a lot of the longterm players dropped, they announced it beforehand, so this was a decision made way before Crema made a post of not doing a 2nd TemCS. I stopped playing PvP since 1.3 which came out in March, so nearly a year ago. The first PvP related bugs started to show up, and I said to sit the season out as I don't enjoy a match if bugs deciding the outcome, especially if you don't know if your opponent is aware of them. Now, seasons over seasons while they have patched the bugs (where people have to wait weeks, even months due to certification processes) more and more showed up, with more and more people dropping, especially with the Koish bug we had last season which even split the PvP community even further (some live with the bugs and others were so intensely against them that they started to call those players out). By checking the TMR dumps you can also see that in Season 3 (bugs first showing up) and Season 5 (Bugged Koish made people quit) far less players have played ranked. Hopes were always there that we would get a season without a single bug. Only to discover that the devs are not interested in a health patch.
