Great video Mark. My Canon EF 100-400 was my first proper wildlife lens and absolutely loved it before moving to the RF. beautiful footage and images mate.

Very good video Mark, excellent tips. I use my 200-500mm zoom which I find is great for dragonflies in flight. Does get heavy though. I have to manually focus with the Z6II because it just doesn't lock on quick enough, challenging but good fun. All the best, Steve.

Would you not prefer the Sony 90mm macro instead? That lens will provide far sharper details which becomes obvious when cropping.

Not for Dragonflies as the extra reach is required when they are on the move ! But if your Dragonfly is still captured early morning with dew on you can not beat the 90mm Macro. It was the worlds tenth sharpest lens when I originally reviewed it ! 🤔

I find the 100-400 a nice ‘lightweight’ walk about lens, although don’t like the extending to zoom. It is not smooth to use like the internal 200-600. Another alternative is the 70-200 with 2x teleconverter still giving F5.6 and internal zoom. That may or may not be as sharp as the 100-400 as those teleconverters do seem to vary a bit in image quality. That would also work for dragonfly with good close focusing using that setup.

Yes a good call Jonathan I will be exploring that option too 👍

Thanks for the video, Camilla. I am wondering if this lens is better than the new Sigma 60-600mm. I am deciding between the 2.
@CamillaI Жыл бұрын
Well it is better quality but hasn’t got the reach of the Sigma !

@@CamillaI how is it better quality than the sigma?

@@VeeTravels Well it's f5.6 GM lens dedicated to Sony also much faster focusing but still only 400mm so it depends on your subject

@@CamillaI Oh I didn't know Sony as faster AF
