I see what your saying and it would be more fun modding your own car. I did watch a video some time ago of a popular tuning company boosting a gtr to 700hp and various other bits (cant remember the details). Then it was track timed against a nismo and lost by quite a margin. The driver say they felt the power on the straights but it couldn't take the corners like the nismo. I guess a standard one can be tuned passed the nismo if you knew what suspension etc to get.

I believe that the focus should be on the handling. there are several suspension options that will make a std GT-R very near a NISMO. I will likely try that next year

I'm amazed at how calm the instructor was. Usually these racing drivers give constant advice because they are bad passengers. Goes to show how capable Ben is on the track. Very smooth driving, that's for sure.

2017 and 2013 are the best years you can buy for the GTR. I would personally go with the 2017. It's might be the softest of them all but it's the most refined. Plus it looks better

I would take the 2015 Nismo over every model they looked the the best and was also the platform for the N- Attack package that set Nurburgring record ect.. they are like 90-100k used in the states I would love the see the 2015 Nismo go against the 2017.

The nismo is only worth it if you're keeping it stock or doing light modification. Yes the car is stronger, has better suspension, and blah blah blah but that only matters when you dont know what youre doing

Small note: GTR's do NOT use R-compound tires like most (ultra) sports cars. These are tires made for all types of weather, short of snow and ice.

For 60 grand you could easily build a “base model” GTR into a beast of a street car or buy the R35 and a R34 GTR as well. I’m a Nissan fanboy and really the new Nismo is only worth it if you REALLY want it and are taking it on track a lot

I have to say, I prefer 'hands-on' videos rather than this sort of almost 'advertorial', I feel like they give truer accounts to a cars feel than these promoted events. I'd much rather see a great channel like this used as a conduit for independent (and much more interesting) opinion. I understand that people will still enjoy seeing the metal, and to some extent I do too, but constructive criticism is where it's at, for me at least.

The Nismo Godzilla looks more menacing and ripped in the flesh and certainly would take that in a flash considering it's the ultimate drift car of its time.
