Might as well have bought a new one. You're going to spend the difference between a 2019 and 2016 just on maintenance alone. I've seen other videos claim it's $12k/yr just to operate a GT-R and keep it maintained properly. That's approaching Bugatti maintenance prices.

TasteMyStinkhole if you get warranties from the dealership when buying it will usually cover maintenance with a very low deductible. My nissan offers free fluid changes , and 100,000 mile warranty you can buy.

@@TasteMyStinkholeAndLikeIt Maybe, if you cant change oil yourself. I tend to do all maintenance I reasonably can myself. But I'm got used to working on cars in the 80's and on, so yeah, they were simpler then. But Fluid Changes, Brakes, Filters, Plugs, Coils and most stuff the OBD computer gives you are no-brainers and cost stupid money at the dealers. A $20 OBD2 Blue Tooth dongle plus $5 Torque Pro on your smartphone can still tell you a lot even if it cant do much except clear fault codes.

I bought a 2009 GTR with 75k Miles and it was well cared for. One of the owners used it for lots of freeway driving. She wanted a GTR for her travels. She had lots of work done to it with all the maintenance logs. The steering column was one of them. Among other warranty items, transmission, flywheel housing, front diff, instrument cluster, AV unit, ECM reprogrammed in 2011, TCM reprogramming. Second owner had the transmission rebuilt with a Shepard Stage stage 1. I didn't pull logs with Nissan but sometimes you can tell when I car is good. The detailed logs had me sold.

You could own one. I think if the GTR-34 get's legalized in the US, all other GTR prices will drop. Then as more years go by, mialege goes up, mods, paint deterioration, etc, the cars price will drop even further and you could probably have one for $25,000 used of course. And by then the aftermarket will have solutions to fix all the problems and make it bulletproof reliable.

Another nice video! Ya know what amazes me most: GT-R owners wanting to sell, USE a real camera!!! 50-105mm lens (get farther away from the car, THEN zoom in a little, THEN take the photo!), and use a polarizing filter to remove unwanted reflections, and shoot in the last hour or first hour of the day = easier lighting = car looks better. $75k car = $1 photography skills. Way too many wide angle distorted looking images (especially the dealership photos), but I enjoyed salivating over 'em! Seems like it's around $70k for a 2013-14 sweet spot. I have people tell me all of the time "but why not a 2009 or 2010? my older grt never had any problems.. blah blah" And I always tell them that with later yeared cars of any platform the problems have been more than likely fixed and refined. I'm not changing my mind, I don't mind spending the extra cash. For new people this is a great video and very descriptive. Good job!

Did you research the fact that Car and Driver's lighting lap shows ZERO performance increase on the track between 2012 and 2017 models they tested. lol. Nissan has been consistently raping customers with higher and higher prices while giving nothing in the way of better performance. I love that. Name any other performance car that hasn't had a performance increase in 5+ model years. GT-R was a bargain in 2009, and steadily been a raping ripoff ever since.

TasteMyStinkhole how the heck do you even come up with $1000 a month maintenance costs?! Ferrari’s aren’t even that much
@TasteMyStinkholeAndLikeIt5 жыл бұрын
I have watched too many of those "how much does it cost to own a GT-R" videos. If you stick with only certified Nissan GTR techs, and follow their maintenance schedule, and use only Nissan certified parts, you should be right around 12 thousand a year in maintenance. If you go to your neighborhood jack of all trades mechanic who works on cars for a side income, and you buy aftermarket parts, you can save a decent chunk of change. I have no idea what it costs to maintain a Ferrari, but changing a set of tires on a Bugatti costs $25,000 for the tires alone. It's pretty insane what it costs to maintain a Bugatti
@AVelez-zq5hf5 жыл бұрын
@@TasteMyStinkholeAndLikeIt so far from the truth. Maintenance schedule is typically $200 dollars for an oil change at the dealership every 4 to 5000 miles. Fluids on 09s, the big ones are transmission/differentials every 18k mile and it is incredibly easy to do. Typical cost at the dealer is around 4 to 500 bucks if you supply the fluids. Average cost - I would say is somewhere around $2000 to $3000 a year if you're following the book at the dealership. My car is out of warranty and has around 83k miles and I've owned it for over a very, very long time. I recently did the spark-plugs, coolant flush, diff, transfer case, transmission, engine, brake, power steering oil, -- basically all fluids in car as well as the serpentine belt and an alignment - it ran me only $1900 parts and labor at a reputable performance shop. If you're buying a car like this - you should be more than capable of being able to afford the maintenance of it. Lastly, Bugatti tires don't cost $25,000. $25,000 is the cost of the annual service of the car. Tires for the car cost around $30,000+ and the tires can only be changed up to 3 times on the same set of rims before you need to get an entire new set of rims from Bugatti --which cost even more :(

Just as a matter of clarity, camber does not cause excessive inner shoulder wear. Toe does. Additional pressure on the inner shoulder causes the sidewall to compress more, and have slightly more wear. But it is very slight, and does not cause the feathering of the tread block that it is so often blamed for. However, if the toe is out, you will be scrubbing the tire laterally across the road surface while going straight down the road. This lateral scrubbing is what causes the excessive inner shoulder wear and feathering of the tread block. If you are going to get an alignment, make sure that the place you take it too has a proper 4 wheel alignment machine, like a Hunter Hawkeye. It uses a 4 wheel laser tracked alignment system, and measures all 4 wheels independently. Sadly, many dealerships do not have alignment machines that are this nice, and do a very poor job of alignments. Putting things simply "within manufacture spec", rather than properly zeroed and dialed in. Sadly, "within spec" can still be far enough out of alignment to cause excessive tire wear. So shopping for a quality alignment shop that has well trained techs is crucial, and can save you a lot of money in tires in the long run (with whatever car you drive). More often than not, if the shop can afford a Hunter Hawkeye, they can usually afford well trained techs as well. Some national chains even offer life time alignments for the price of what about 2 alignments would cost. And that can be a big savings over the life of the car. So shop around. A proper alignment can make a world of difference in a cars handling.

Good video from an owner who evidently knows his subject material. I'm now looking at GTR's with the idea of buying one in the near future. Unfortunately we get reamed on price here in Australia, and we are looking at over $300K for a MY2019 nismo. I didn't realize that you are really paying a HUGE price for the Turbos, Brakes and a bit of Carbon Fiber in places where its probably going to have to be replaced at some stage if you drive it a lot (Australian roads are really shit). I can live without the CF, put the upgraded brakes on it and maybe later a few mods like exhaust and intake (later maybe even the turbos, but as I understand it, the intake enlargement and larger better flowing Intercooler make up a lot for the Turbo lag). Yeah, I'm going to look at a Stock or Premium from 2017 -2019 now. Thanks for filling in a few blanks I had. Initially I wont be trying to make it go any faster, but you know how it is. Eventually, even the fastest of vehicles start to feel slow (even when they aren't) and you want to go just that little bit faster (or quicker). My background is with Big V8's, so Turbo lag is something I am going to want to drastically reduce (or get used to it). I've always loved the GTR and now I can finally see myself clear to buying. Its now just a case of flying all over Australia to find the right one!

I rather to go on black edition or premium edition DBA gtr on year 2013-2015 and it depend on prices. Nissan GTR and Chevy Chevelle SS are still my dream cars.

Good info. I'm in the market for a performance car/track car, and the GTR is on my list along with Z06. The Corvette is definitely winning the performance/$$$ battle, largely due to availability and also performance/maintenance potential.

Great video! Was not sure what year to get,obviously older is cheaper. Thinking 2013-2014 is where I want to be.

Wow! Thanks man. I can see you’ve done your homework. Definitely gives me soot to consider WHEN I buy my GTR. Those repairs seem awefully steep.... 😬😬😬. But again like you said it comes with the territory. Thanks again man for the information. Very helpful
