I really don't know why all these reviewers are always comparing the RCF with the M4. Lexus never said they designed the RCF to be a M4 killer or for that matter to compete with any other brand. I really think thats where they are initially wrong and it changes the way they view the RCF hence forth " the not so positive reviews" after they drive it. I was fortunate to drive a RCF with the Performance Package and the first thing that came to my mind after driving it was. This is Lexus way of introducing the world to their new approach to design and performance. The RCF is the second attainable Lexus to wear the F badge. The LFA is out of most performance car buyers budget. The RCF wasn't intended to be the show stopper hooligan mobile like the M4 or C63. The RCF is what the RCF is. A way for Lexus to show the world that it doesn't just produce luxury hearse's for senior citizens. I frankly loved the car. amazing experience to drive. when you are in it, you feel like you are in something very special and exclusive. you can't go a block without seeing a boy racer M4 or a C63. You can go months without seeing a RCF. I like that too. I fell in love from the minute I pushed the start button and that quad exhaust V8 roared to life like a supercar. I think its is worth every penny. They are trading now on CarGurus for around $47,000-$55,000 used with low miles. This is definitely going to be my next car or if my girlfriend gets prego then the GSF :-)

The RCF is an embarrassment for Toyota. They cut MAJOR CORNERS. The chassis is a mashup from the parts bin. A hack job. Even the engine is not bespoke (from the LS). It may be reliable, but so is my Mercedes C63 507. And the C63 won't put you to sleep while driving it, and make you throw up while seeing it.

Also - I found out - 93 Supra window sticker price - $45k. calculated inflation from 1993 to 2016 and the price becomes more than $75k. The price of this is as reasonable as you can get.

IMO I really like their decision to keep the traditional automatic, DCT's have always been problematic and Lexus has a reputation for reliability. The amount of issues I see on forums over DCT Mechatronic failures is scary, especially when the majority are having issues at less than 100,000km.

Ok so I actually have a RC F and previous had a 2014 RS5 cabriolet, N/A with 450hp and before that Jaguar XJL, 2014 Audi A6 3.0L, Mercedes E550, 2009 BMW 335xi, I will give my opinion. The Lexus is the best for me. I had warranty issues with both my Audi's in Canada & their customer service is brutal. My rs5 3 years old with 24,000 miles started to rust on both rear fenders & it took 4 months of hassling Audi to agree to the repairs. My A6 had brake issues after 13 months & audi would not do anything because the warranty is 12 months. My 2015 RC F is 3 years old and my Brembo brakes were squealing a bit & Lexus put 4 pads on without even a test drive for free. I could go on but the other thing for me is that M3/4 looks almost exactly as the 325, the Mercedes C43/C63 look like the C300. Audi RS5 looks like the A5/S5. If you don't know cars, those basically all look like the cheapest model in their line up. The RC F looks like nothing else on the road for the price. Love the N/A 467 hp, but would never be on a track..

I think the biggest problem with this car, and Lexus F models in general is that they're trying to compete with the likes of AMG and M and the performance is more in line with mid-tier models. Comparing this to say a C63 reminds me of people trying to compare an S5 to a C63, except that in Audi's case at least they have the RS5 that ACTUALLY competes whereas Lexus doesn't have anything past this to offer. Lexus really needs to introduce a higher tier performance line to really go toe to toe with the Germans. Either that or stop trying to market it as a competitor to those cars and instead try and carve their own niche. Also, the car does sound really good. I personally still prefer the C63 sounds (even with turbocharging) but props to Toyota. Pleasantly surprised by how good this sounds.

I don't think you guys mentioned the V series Cadillacs. The ATS-V and the CTS-V alone are the reasons to not ever buy an RC F. You talked about how cars are getting more expensive, and that's true for Cadillacs too, but it's all relative - you get a LOT more performance for your dollar with the Cadillacs. Specific example: the Lighting Lap at VIR. RC F: 3:05.8 ATS-V: 2:59.2 That's seven seconds per lap. SEVEN SECONDS. That's not even VAGUELY close. That is a straight up back alley BEATING. And the ATS-V costs less money, can be had with a MANUAL transmission, and can also be had as a coupe or a 4 door sedan. There is no way any sane person looking for a performance luxury car in this price bracket to ever consider the RC F given what else is on the market. On its own the RC F is fine, but it doesn't live in a vacuum. It has very, very stiff competition on the open market, and it doesn't measure up when compared directly to cars like the ATS-V. And this RC F is $80k which is only a few grand away from a CTS-V wth 640 HP and an even more devastating Lightning Lap time, hitting almost TEN seconds per lap faster than the RC F. Just saying, even when comparing base prices, the ATS-V still has it all over the RC F. The RC F isn't a bad car, but it is priced WAY too high to compete with the other cars in its class. This is a $40-$50k car, not a $64k car. In fact You could get away with saving some money and get almost the same performance AND a big V8 if you bought a Chevy SS for $45k. Almost $20k cheaper than an RC F, and it can just about hold its own against an RC F on a track while still being a really good handling car that makes great big V8 noises, and you can get the Chevy SS with a manual too.

What's a couple/few tiny paint chips and 20K miles, compared to saving, literally $25K or so, if you shop and haggle? Now some people are super picky about the interior, so that might not be for them. But if you're not super picky, you can get quality and relative value in CPO luxury.

Eco mode is never used? If you sit in Bay Area traffic everyday, you'll thank Lexus for adding that mode. In Eco, the throttle/gear shifting is smooth and makes the ride more enjoyable than my 2014 PDK Cayman S. Not to mention the gas consumption in heavy traffic is just like that of my previous IS V6. On a clear road, it roars like an angry animal. Gotta love that sound...

I think Jeremy Clarkson's review of this car is absolutely spot on. Given the fact that this is the same company that made the LFA, this is a huge let down. A Frankenstein chassis, a 4,000 pound curb weight, a low horsepower engine from a 10 year old family, and looks only a mother could love. Lexus could have done so much better. And they pulled a BMW. Letting the marketing dept. sell the car, instead of the engineering selling itself.

I drove one today and I did not like it. During normal driving it hold your rpm’s at about 1500 and then seems like it has the downshift when you give it gas so there is a bit of a lag. I did not expect that and I am very disappointed because of it.

You can always tune up the power, but you can't tune up the sound of the M4. M4 sounds like shit, M2 is a much better car than the fart can M4

Rich S M4 is still a fart can, you can tune the RCF, you can tune any car's performance, but M4 is one of the few cars that sounds shit no matter what. Id get a M2 and tune up to 420 hp and run circle around the fart can.

To me, my M4 has all the performance of the M2, but has the luxury features I wanted as well. My real M4 is mineral grey. What color M2 would you like to pretend to have? the m4/c63 is better but this is one unique/cool because its one of the last n/a v8s you'll be able to get as the next one will definitely be a turbo 6 to be more competitive. good review guys!

I wonder if Lexus could pilfer some of BMW's DCT technology for their future sports sedans/coupes, since their parent company is working with BMW to co-develop the new "Supra". BMW is in charge of the chassis and engine development, so that might not be too big of a stretch that they could potentially borrow some tech from someone else.

Where I live, M3/4 C63 everywhere, but ZERO RCF. Looks like Lexus is late to the party of performance segment but yet not being able to deliver a worthy challenge to the big boys

Nice car, and im working in a BMW factory here in bavaria, and i can tell you all, dont buy a Mercedes or a BMW ^^ i would take the Lexus anytime over a new BMW or Mercedes... Durability is getting worse and worse, quality breaks down, and the only narrative is to get the production cost down on any costs... If you think, you buy a premium car, have your dream until you get woken up... And for the Lexus, i like the approach for a new design, a lil bit radical and new. Miss this on the other cars nowadays... And nothing beats a big engine who breath air naturally and give you a satisfying feeling on the pedal. BMW has misslearned this, i only drive the old BMW with VANOS and straight 6. Best engine in the world. The M5 5.0 Diesel has a tripple Turbo in one frame, so if one turbo gets broken, you need to replace all three, think about it.

I love this car, and i know its not perfect, and i'd take it over a m3/4 not sure about the new c63, but i do prefer the 2011+ ISF over this used at waaaayyyy less and its 250 pounds lighter, especially since the ECU's have been cracked....

How about tuning a Q60s? Probably a lot to work with, with a twin turbo and less than 60K... 400/350 stock and a bit lighter..

Lexus should just revitalize the LFA instead of creating cheaper cars that try to "mock" it. I know, it is completely a different class of car and WAY more expensive, but the RCF was supposed to have the life of the LFA in it, and I just don't see it, Jeremy Clarkson doesn't see it, so I think it is time to bring back the wail of the LFA.
