I had a 2013 Fit and it was the most fun car I've ever driven. I had the Sport with the paddles. It was truly a hidden gem. It was slow as can be, put starting from first and flooring it the torque really put you back into the seat. So you weren't going fast, but it sure felt fast. It was a good sounding engine too. Going through corners was a blast too. You didn't have to be going fast but boy was it fun. And the versatility on it was amazing. Absolutely loved that car. I now own a 2017 Toyota 86 and while it is also an absolute blast, my Fit will always have a special place in my heart.

Hi, I tested one of these which was advertised from a dealer but although i liked it even with the CVT i didn’t like the way it steered like as though the castor is set too much as it wants to centre itself back too quickly into the straight ahead position and although it handles well this feeling spoils it If you know what i mean.? I wonder if the 1.3 model with the standard tyres feels better or is there a tweak to fix the sport out there to make it feel better in this dept?

IMO A. You can keep the turbo-ed earth dreams motor. B. Making 174 hp on a turbo-ed motor is a joke. There's plenty of 4 cylinder Honda motors that make 150-200hp without a turbo.

This car is simply the best for any college student or even for new grads. People who buy this car is for the reliability, cargo, friends and family. Seriously this car is better than any corolla and other small size hatch by a far margin and literally the only thing in this car segment... kia rio5 is too small, nissan versa is bad, toyota yaris has bad built, mazda has no mazda2 in america, chervolet sonic has no such seat. The only thing can compare is the ford fiesta but that thing is smaller and not as comfy, B class is too expensive... For sporty people, pick the fiesta. otherwise, the Fit just can do everything...

I have to say, I was never a Honda fanboy, I always looked at them like stupid ricer cars. BUT after living out here in the beautiful canyon lands of Utah, I drove my sister's brand new Audi S5 sporting those flappy paddles through the twists and turns and I loved it, but a month or two later I drove my buddy's 2012 Honda Civic Si with a 6spd manual on the same drive and just had SO much more fun. When you have a true open road, and don't have to deal with much traffic, the Honda manual transmissions are absolutely incredible. Hell, I have a friend who is still daily driving a 1991 Honda Accord with a manual transmission that has never needed a new clutch or anything. Of course, there are a ton of cars that are more fast, but are they more fun ? Those Honda cars are just built well, shame on those idiots with the stupid "fart can" mufflers giving the real Honda fans a bad name....

Is the cabin noise any lower in the LX? I skipped the 2017 Honda Fit due to high levels of cabin noise - engine, tire thrum, wind - after a test drive. The Honda press release says it is quieter (and also with improved suspension tuning) but I'm not sure all trim levels got the upgrade,.

Sorry, but the air vents keeping your beverages hot or cold in the Fit is not true. The actual holders would have to be heated or cooled for that to happen. I owned a Fit for 5 years and the cup holders are just that, cup holders. And they are conveniently located in front of the air vents. That's all. There is no direct relationship between them.
@MichaelWebber
@MichaelWebber 7 жыл бұрын
If anything, air flow magnifies the effect of the temperature differential. Thus if you put aircon on coldest - blowing 68 degrees (even lower doesn't matter) there is no way the aircon can chill down a slushie filled with ice - and hence around 32 or 33 degrees. I guess if you could get some benefits with a bottle of water that would otherwise reach cabin temperature (keep it a little cooler). This effect is the same with hot coffee - say it's 160 degrees. Anything cooler - and the air from the heater vent is definitely not 160 degrees - will cool that coffee down. Most insulation is based, in fact, on the principle of dead air space - keep the air STILL around the object that has a temperature differential you want to preserve.

I have the same trim but a '17. Sometime in the future, I hope to buy a Civic Si Coupe as a car I drive for fun and once in a while to work. I will be inheriting an '89 CRX Si with 380,000 miles on it. It is a reliable car that is in great condition. Original engine still passing smog checks with no problems getting 40 MPG on the highway is not a bad deal. I want to get a million miles on that thing. Maybe Honda will give me a free Civic Si.

But I did pull 43 mpg. On highway...its a great car for around town and really not too bad on a long drive....say 3 to 5 hours...anything longer would require rest breaks...but just love the cargo capacity can't be beat...i could sleep in the back if I had to..it's not a racecar..but does ride along silky smooth.. .you may feel the road a bit..but tolerable...its a small car...not a luxury sedan..but very roomy inside....love it...used to have a civic hatchback in 1980s..and this car harkens back to that original small Honda loveliness.....

What I need is help on operating the electronics on the dash and steering wheel. The manual doesn't go far enough and the videos on KZbin don't cover everything I need help with or the dashboard is slightly different than mine. My recent problem is the camera on the front window seems to be malfunctioning according to the dealer and needs replacing for over $2K. Frankly i'd like to disable it and stop getting error messages that my LKAS/ACC functions are askew. I disabled them a few months ago and now they're lighting up again along with an orange 'Brake system' light.; My local mechanic did a diagnostic and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the brakes. And when I drive, sometimes the error messages go away. The dealer says that's a sign the camera is failing. My question is, if i let it fail, besides not getting messages, will anything catastrophic happen. I've been driving for over 50 years most of that time w/o all the electronics and I'd like to disable all those messages now. Opinions anyone?

They need a true sporty Si and they need a true DX or other lower end model as an entry point. 16 grand is too much for a base model option Honda. I want one without power everything inside. Just manual windows, mirrors, etc and AC. Honda use to offer a Civic and even Accord for many years like this. A base model Fit that is like what a Civic use to be. A simple well made efficient car. 35 mpg is pretty low. They need a lighter tuned for efficiency model like a VX was. Also would be nice.

I want to like this car. I really do. But can’t. I bought a then-all-new ‘15 Honda Fit and after only a year, and 5k miles of ownership, had to get rid of it. This is not an easy car to live with day-to-day. The Fit makes a great, initial showroom impression. Lots of rear and cargo room, plenty of versatility, the most impressive visibility and glass area of any modern car, loads of features even in base LX trim, high fuel economy, clear gauges and simple controls, and a few thoughtful touches like the natty cloth seats and pseudo chrome trim pieces to liven the interior. But on the road, this car is a drag. The engine is decent in this class and compares well to other subcompacts. But it’s let down by a six speed manual transmission with short gear ratios that are annoying in traffic and on hills. The engine noise is relentless at all speeds and the sounds are more reminiscent of a Honda mower than their cars. This is an exhausting car on long trips. At least the slick shifter, expansive greenhouse, and precise steering made the Fit shine on windy, mountain roads. That was the only place the Fit was strangely in its element. Inside, an extra few inches of rearward travel of the rear seats would’ve been appreciated. Taller front passenger’s knees dig into the dashboard. It was almost as though Honda designed the spacious rear seat first, and the fronts were an afterthought. But the reliability was the biggest letdown. We had numerous trim issues, leaks, electrical gremlins, and creaks and rattles. The car made over a dozen unscheduled visits to the dealer in only 5k miles, and some of the issues were never rectified or reappeared. That’s embarrassing for any maker, and especially Honda. We were glad to unload the Fit and get a Chevy Sonic. True to it’s word, the Fit did hold its value well. But the Sonic is so much more refined in noise and harshness, comfortable for front passengers, peppy on the road, and had bigger discounts. And in a strange irony for GM, has proven to be 100% reliable in 7k miles. Even the same price point, the Sonic is just more pleasant. The Sonic forsakes some rear seat space and fuel economy, but it’s absolutely worth it. So yeah, I still want to like the little Fit, but there’s too much of a dark cloud from living with it

I wish they would offer a true cheaper base model, like the DX Civics or the past. Remove some content (power windows, locks, display, power mirrors, cruise control, etc), make it lighter, create a fuel miser edition, drop the price of the base to under 13 grand.. it really gets so so MPG for it's class so they need to offer a model that gets well over 40mpg. When buying a car like this, stick with the lower entry level. Otherwise; it is best to move up to the next class of car in it's entry point for the same or lower than the EX version. This is meant to be an economy car. Buy it as one, or move up a class. HFP sounds like mostly as appearance package with lower ride height. Kinda cheesy.

I think 2018 Fit EX MT6 is the cheapest manual transmission car currently available with adaptive cruise control. I think the next up is 2017 Corolla SE MT6. We've come a long way.

In Japan, there is a good version of this car. 1.5 Hybrid! So he goes cheerfully and very economical! But only for the domestic market! Sorry for my English, I write through the translator. I'm from Russia.

If Toyota had just kept the hatchback body style when they rebranded the Mazda2 as iA, it would beat the fit by miles!

Honda needs to get it together and offer a Turbo Fit.....that alone would do more for the brand than the Type-R

They should of considered selling them with 2.0 liters vtec engines from the 9th gen si. K series on these small chasis would increase a different power to weight ratio.

1:57 "The best manual in the world is not going to make up for the 130 HP" - Oh, the kids today. Learn to drive, fer Christ's sake, stop complaining about horsepower, unless you think this is a dragster. Take it on some nice mountain twisties and see how much horsepower you need in a small car to have fun. The only thing Honda needs to do is update the damn manual with a taller gearing in 6th for better fuel economy on long, boring freeway runs. It's an embarrassment now.

mountainhobo - THANKYOU! I hate it when car reviewers are shallow and only consider horsepower numbers and not the overall package and capabilities for the fun factor. Sometimes, the people who complain from lack of power are the same ones with the "powerful" vehicles holding back a bunch of "slow" vehicles in the twisty stuff.

mountainhobo, It seems Car manufacturers are a little shaky about tall geared 4 cylinder N/A cars. I think they fear people will just leave the car in top gear and try to pass. Also the Fit has never been an open road car. It is more about city and suburban use.

"Also the Fit has never been an open road car" -- Nah, nothing wrong with it for an open road. Comfortable, plenty of horsepower for a car this size. "they fear people will just leave the car in top gear and try to pass" -- Those people will be driving CVT.

One of the great driving "experiences " is to drive a small manual transmission car and try to get the best performance you can from it. I find a Honda Fit 6MT a much more engaging driving experience than some Audi/MB/BMW dual clutch/automatic whatever, where the driver is basically along for the ride.

130hp and 6spd would be acceptable if this car was well equipped at $15K or so. But $20k is a joke for this tin can.

I've been looking at the Honda Fits lately, but there some things I don't get. Why do some of the Fits actually cost more than some of the Civics? As far as mpg - With the Fit having less horsepower and torque, why is the mpg just as good if not better on the Civics? Why not put a turbo engine in a Fit? With the price of some Fits going over 20k, I feel that opens the door to so many other options for a new car buyer, including the Honda Civic.

The new car buying experience is ranked the worst by customers in the U.S. What I'm saying is the dealers TRY to get you to pay as much(or more) for a Fit than a Civic. You're best bet is to avoid the new car dealership and buy a used Fit that you can live with for 30-40% cheaper. Just a quick glimpse online I see 2015 Fit LX for 13K and EX for 14.5K. These are just the asking prices, you probably can get them for 12K and 13.5K respectively..and you'll be perfectly happy with them and you can put that 7K or more you just saved in your savings account.

My biggest complaint about the fit is the fuel economy which is about the same as the Civic Hatchback. Why buy it then when the Civic LX hatchback will get you 40 mpg on the freeway and 44 more ponies for around the same price as a tricked out Fit?
@oldtwinsna8347

Because the Fit is much smaller dimensionally. Very important for people who drive in inner city and have to park in spaces that literally make one inch the difference between getting a park spot and not getting a spot at all.
