Great video and a great ride !! I live in Tampa and bought my first Subaru Impreza 5dr from Port Richey Subaru ( 2015 ) I then traded for a new 2017 Impreza with the Global platform. The Impreza is a fantastic car and when you look at all the specs and safety features, its a no brainer. The dealership is worth the drive as there is no high pressure sales people and they treat you like family. I'm now looking at a year end 2019 or may wait for the 2020's to hit the lot, but I will stay with the Impreza 5dr. Great you chose Port Richey Subaru - Awesome people !

I just picked up a 2019 Impreza wagon with the 5 speed. It’s the base model but honestly, I love it. It doesn’t have the side skirts and bells and whistles and I like that. I’m in New Hampshire so the less areas salt can get stuck in the better. It surprisingly has a decent aftermarket for parts, and so far I’ve done a few little exterior improvements. I’m coming from a 2020 wrx so I was a little worried but I’m glad I did. I don’t miss all the idiots trying to race me when I’m going for groceries. Great car.

Impreza is the best car hands down in it's segment. Has the best safety features with eyesight, all wheel drive, the cabin looks amazing and has lots of neat tech to keep you informed, Android auto and car play as standard, one of the larger infotainment displays, great economy and practicality. Even looks pretty good. And I don't know why no one mentioned this before, but it has the highest resolution reverse camera in the segment with steering trajectory

Joe, Subaru presented their newly redesigned 2020 Legacy at the Chicago Auto Show and the optional infotainment screen is 11.6 inches which is huge compared to the Impreza screen. I think once you go up a trim level or two (in Canada: Convenience to Touring to Sport) the dash gives much more info, including the scrolling info between the gauges. As a daily driver it interests me regardless of the CVT. But I'd go up a couple of trims, mid-range. Elantra GT with winter tires would work for me too. AWD is less important than the tires although it's nice to have. Another good informative video.

Hi Joe Great review as always. What do you think about buying a used auto 2017 Impreza? I am kind of tired of all this reliability BS. Every fun car I choose to buy, someone says it is not reliable. Everyone should ride Toyota, Lexus, and Honda if it was up to those guys. What I really want is a car like Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Ford Focus, VW Golf, or even a fun car such as Fiat 500, but at the end of the day, all this reliability BS made you choose some boring car like Corolla since no one likes to spend the day in a garage waiting for their car to be fixed.

@jjacob251016 жыл бұрын
I agree that this is the best entry level all wheel drive, with the available hatchback for utility. The base level is sparse, but you get what you pay for. The Sport models for the Subaru and Honda vehicles seem to have most of the things I would want, without the extra cost of the top of the line trims, which often does not have the Sport appearance pieces, and performance components. It didn't look like this Impreza had a CD player, but it's the base trim. I hope they still have the CD player in the Sport trim and up. I also agree on the light colors for the seats getting dirty and stained easily, and prone to wear and tear, especially soft fabric ones. I know Honda offers accessory rear seat covers, every car maker should, also front seat covers for most models. The same for the rear seat back covers on hatchbacks and sedans that have fold down seats. Wheel covers gotta go, even if it has just decent looking steel wheels with them for the base model. Sport trim wheels for bnb the Sport trim Impreza, Honda Civic and Accord are really nice. Things like the fog light panels should be options that can be added to base models like this, as well as many other parts, if possible. The Impreza is still one of my main considerations for my next vehicle in the Sport Hatchback trim, and I think the styling is nice, but subtle and low key, just how I like it. There's probably only three brands of vehicle I would seriously consider buying for type, configuration, equipment, styling, functionality, safety, durability, reliability, longevity, performance and value. Honda, Subaru, Ford, and Toyota, if the would just put Android Auto in their new vehicles. The new, upcoming Rav4 TRD is really nice. For older, used cars, the selection would be wider, as many other cars, even well kept, high mileage ones can be good buys, because their parts are still available, they are solid, reliable, safe, durable, and easy to work on. Changes in company ownership, design, quality of parts/materials, and such, like CVT transmissions have caused many new cars to be problematic, headaches, and money pits. Especially, if problems are hard to diagnose and pinpoint. The biggest regret is GM, who I grew up with. I've had more of my share of problems and expense, despite the joys, and knowing my cars were safe, and solid, and at times, fast. I style like the style, and performance of many of the GM vehicles, but leery buying any of them for the above mentioned reasons, with maybe the exception of the present Buick Regal GS, which is technically an Opel Insignia, and some changes. I expect it to be more reliable than most of the other vehicles from GM now. I miss my Buick GN, with my 84 having the nicest interior and under hood visual parts than the other years, but it wasn't perfect. My 77 Buick Regsl S/R was old school hot rod, but would be great with a much higher performance version of the stock 350 V8 and all the usual mods, and better seats and redone interior. My 81 Regal Sport Coupe was a predecessor to the GN, and was a nice ride for that time. My 2011 Chevy Cruise RS was nice, but a drop in size and performance, but problematic. I may still keep it and replace the engine and fix it up a little. After the eorkntovrestore it to running condition, it may have advantages to some newer cars. It has s non CVT transmission. There are suspension and other mild mods availablavI would consider, still looks good and in otherwise decent condition, and the stereo still has CD player, USB, and auxiliary audio input jack, and a nice Siny CD radio that fits if I can be sure all the other vehicle functions controls work. For later models with the backup camera and other features, it may not be viable. My 2006 Impala SS was nice, real nice and roomy, but the battery is so hard to change, my car was in the shop for one month to replace the fuse box I shorted out trying to get the battery out. The wiring for the shifter linkage went out twice, making it unable to put my shifter in Park and remove my key without taking off the shifter knob to bang the lever down, and later found out from mechanics you can stick a narrow Robin a hole under the steering column to do that. And the transmission went out at about 40K miles when I never really roughed it, causing me to get my new car, which was easier and more feasible than getting the transmission fixed. I would day of my 3 Buicks, and 3 Chevies, if I could have back any of those cars in the condition I had it last now, it would be my loaded silver 2000 Chevy Impala LS. It was the first new Impala when that version came out in Hawaii, and was in the new car show that year at our Convention Center. It was fully loaded with all the options, had just as much horsepower as my GN with a more durable non turbo 3800 V6, with lots or torque to spin tires from a stop easily, and big, strong brakes, and solid enough to still be able to drive around for a week with everything working after having the whole front end smashed in a few months after I had it. After repairs, it drove and looked brand new, and was running perfectly, with my window tinting still in pristine condition after five years. It just was getting time to get new tires soon. Later it became the infamous Trunk Monkey special. Lol The only reason I traded it in is because the first new 2006 SS arrived in July 2005, and I went it to look at it, maybe considering getting it about 6 months later. I ended up driving home with it a few hours later because they practically gave it to me with my trade in, even before the loan was finalized, I think because I could have gotten a 401K loan from my employer like my 2000 if I needed to. This sidetracked from this video subject, but shows that some modern cars like the Subarus and others I mentioned are good guys now, and others are not so much, but certain older cars, or somewhat older, like my 2000 Impala, are better cars than newer ones of the same make, like my later 2 Chevies. With Flowmaster Exhaust, speaker and amplifier stereo mods, Bilstein shocks and the Optima battery and K&N filter I had, it would have been a great car now, with more reliability and proven safety, room and functionality. But getting back to the Impreza, a Sport Hatchback with all the options and accessories would be a great car for decent performance, comfort and features for the price, eitherveithbtheboptionsk stereo, or the factory Rockford Fosgate upgrade kit. The only two major known concerns is the durability of the CVT if you go with the automatic, the the head gasket related problems of the Boxer engine, but not as big concerns with the non turbo Impreza, and if you don't push it too much for the CVT. Those are bigger concerns for the WRX/STi, especially if driven hard and with modified tuning and increased boost, etc. All these things me toned here may be applicable to many other vehicles, but for an entry level, compact AWD sedan/hatchback, the Impreza is one if the best buys at entry level if all the features satisfies you, or a Sport for all the things I would want and expect for that price.

@@RaitisRides which trim comes with heated mirrors and blind spot?
@linchester84646 жыл бұрын
It def interesting to see the US version has different trim levels, the basic of the basic all the way up to the Limited In Singapore we only get the Sedan and Hatchback 2.0L Limited trim right off the bat which is the fully loaded model with the Eyesight technology Prices start from 94 grand here in Singapore for the 5 door as in this video but the Crosstrek/XV for the same price is the better looker over the Impreza since the chassis and interior is the same across the platform. the older Impreza with the 4 speed auto and the SOHC 1.6L engine during the test drive struggle to get away from the stop lights with 5 adults, we ended up getting the Forester 2.0 XT during that test drive.

My 2019 Subaru impreza is setting records, didn't make a 100 miles before the gas gauge was at half. Should have bought a full size truck get better gas mileage.
@herschelwalker5916 жыл бұрын
Base model Subaru's are the only one's that make sense, as the competition is superior and I don't really understand the Impreza anymore when they also have a Crosstrek... As for the USB ports not being up front, the Forester solved that, and some of the other little goofs in the Crosstrek, but they ditched the Manual and ebrake, so you balance the little goofs vs the big goofs in the Forester...

The Impreza still exists because it's the same as a Crosstrek for over $2K less and not everyone needs 8.7" of ground clearance.

That plastic circle where the fog lights are suppose to be might be the cheapest thing I’ve ever seen in the world, honestly this car is falling behind compared to its competitors. Only thing this car has is all wheel drive

I hate my 2017 impreza premium, the tan cloth seats get stained super easy. The interior materials are just falling apart. I've had multiple electrical problems with it, and the A/C is very weak. Buying that car is my second biggest mistake.

Not a good choice, the impreza with all wheel drive is much safer and will run circles around the corolla in the snow or rain. Plus it is a much safer car, go on line and watch the crash videos, it will make a believer out of you.
