I had bad flashbacks from this video. I once took our MDX with the optional 20” wheels to an event at a hobby farm that had an unpaved access road almost as bad as what was in this video and I ended up with a big sidewall bubble in one of the tires. That’s when I learned how miserable it was pulling the spare tire out from under the rear bumper and how unstable a scissors jack is on dirt and gravel 😓. Thankfully Michelin road hazard warranty covered the tire replacement, but seeing how the gv80 does not come with a spare tire is a bit worrisome.

After looking at the Porsche, BMW, Acura , Mercedes, surprise... placed a factory order for GV 80. It impressed me the most. If somebody told me that 5 or especially 10 years ago, I would be laughing . Who is laughing now? Oozing quality, luxury and design all aligned in 1 impressive machine. Only minus the brand that nobody heard before, I can live with that. 70k plus tax is not cheap, but will keep it for quite some time and probably will trade for new Genesis model, if they continue to improve with lightning speed as now. I just wish all colors will be available as in Korea, and absence of close dealerships not inspiring, but next year they will built one close to my house. Waiting time for a factory order is around 4m now, Looks like I am not the only one in lane for Korean treat.

Few things oh wishfull list :No option for V8 biturbo (that will be super cool and will blow competition far away, no towing hitch available from factory as installed option, fuel consumption is disappointing, even though I can pay for it, mechanical wise system is not optimized, and obviously room for improvement, no spare tire option for top trim. I fear we are not getting the augmented reality navigation in the U.S. I cannot find anything about it on the Genesis USA site, but do see it on the Australian site. Please, please, please tell your connections at Genesis that we really want the augmented reality navigation in America. Why would they deny us that in the U.S.? None of the U.S. reviewers have shown it. One said we don't get it. Also, I noticed the right button between the infotainment controller dial and gear shifter (opposite of the auto hold button) looks like it is some sort of parking button? From what I have seen on videos of U.S. version of GV 80, that button looks like a dead button. Can you confirm what that button is for and whether is is available on U.S. spec models. I'm almost positive that Genesis would have to jump thru a ton of regulation hurdles to get the augmented reality navigation here. Pretty sure that's why its not offered in the U.S., but maybe some day.

Charlie can you order these directly from the manufacturer in Korea

Charlie makes the best Reviews from Genesis. I love the Interieur from the GV 80. The Augmented Reality is a great help. You can have it also at Mercedes Benz since 2 Years. The new Genesis GV 80 and the 70 will be Leaders in the next Future in Asia and Europe too, i hope. I hope that Genesis comes soon to Europe and specially to Germany. I want to have an GV70. The GV 80 is a little bit too big for me personly.

Do you think since the GV70 debuted a month later there, it will be delayed a month for the US too? I remember you saying it would be November for there in Korea and then mid to late April for the US. It released there this week, so a month later.

Does the GV80 has off road modes like the BMW and Mercedes off road trims?

Asian Petrolhead please help which car is better to buy for wife. GV80 2,5T or 3.0D? How do you think which plus have 3,0D. I Look Australian tests it show that no difference in dynamic. 2,5T is more quiet? And some tells about problem with vibration on diesel.
@AsianPetrolhead4 жыл бұрын
I would recommend 2.5T, because 3.0D has vibration and noise coming from the diesel. If your wife has to drive long distance journeys, then 3.0D, but other wise. I would recommend 2.5T for this all new Genesis GV80. Thak you Wolfin.
