My favorite color in the type s family. Tigers eye looks so good. Two things I would change from this suv is get rid of all the gloss black pieces and replace them with carbon fiber. Also I don't have to lean forward to touch the screen, controls are right at the fingers all the time, and it super quick and responsive! Anyone on the fence because of it, just try it. Having owned a Legend and MDX I can say Acura reliability and servicing top notch. There is a difference between BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Lexus service personalities. Acura is the most laid back. However Acura can't decide on sport or luxury but this one comes closer. Still considering price and all around quality I can see why someone would buy it. I would like to see them just step it up that extra bit in a Type S. Nice review Joe pointing out all the variables.

The new MDX shouldn’t require any premium. After 3 weeks I can say from what I've driven it would be a fantastic daily and long distance driving vehicle. l I drove 500 miles round trip to pick it up and those massage seats are very comfortable and hit the spot. Cons: Ventilated seats are pretty underwhelming and barely notice they are on. No ventilation at all for 3rd row passengers (kids). Only my smaller kids really want to sit back there. I have a 22 MDX Advance, the Tpe S was not out yet in August 2021. I was Hooked by the new redesign as soon as I saw it on KZbin review and more so when I visited Acura Dealers. With just iover 14K miles on the clock (retired, mostly local drives and bi monthly longer trips), no a Problem has surfaced ..NADA. If the Type S was out, and if I test drove it, I "probably" would have opted for the Type S: More Power, & Torque, massaging Seats, Bembro Brakes, AND adaptive dampers + the air suspension [They are two different things] are worthwhile Goodies - however, $10K more than the Non Type S is to be measured subjectively: is it worth that $$$$ for more Punch. I agree with another poster here, it is about $5K too much. After 2 years, I still "wish" Acura included Both a touchscreen and Touch pad. IMHO, Acura should have brouight back the NDX as a Sport Hybrid (2018-2020), based on the same 3.0 V-6 , with increased HP & Torque over the 3.5 V-6 (in mine), much better MPGs!! If they produced that Sport Hybrid, it would have been an Instant Stong winner. I don't know how the EPA numbers for the Type S at 18/21 MPGs can be achieved. Mine was rated at 19/26 MPGs. City/Subrban is consistently 12.5-13.5 MPGs, Highway I can achieve 25-25.5 travelling at 70-75MPH on the Jersey Turnpike. And that's with Non Winter Blend gas....It's 10-15% Less with Winter Blend gasoilne.

I wonder if the touchpad for the info screen is less safe since you have to use more hand-eye coordination than a touch screen.

Actually, I have both, the MDX and another that has touchscreen. I find that the touchpad gives me a wider field of vision because instead of my eyes locking in on my fingertips see where I am touching on the screen, I can simply lean back and work that touchpad while seeing the road AND where on the screen I am. That has been my personal experience. Granted, for smart business, Acura SHOULD HAVE made it ALSO have a touchscreen function, but if it did, I would still be using the touchpad 80% of the time. It is really functionally near perfect.
