Awesome review. The Acura TLX is a great looking car. This car was a good bargain when it came out 2 years ago for around 52k, now they are close to 58k. Acura needs to improve the performance numbers for this model for the price they are charging. There are lot of other competitors that can out perform this model for less money.

Hey man love your content, energy, and healthy perservation on Twinkies lol. I own the 2022 version (blue on red) and I see a lot of comments in general about dissing this car. I just wanted to add my opinions after owning this gem for about a year. 1. Looks. I get comiments all the time. It's one of the best looking cars on the road regularly. The m340i front end looks terrible. You done see type s often on the road probably because people go m340i instead which I see A LOT of in NJ. 2. Cost. I get the m340i is faster and a better bargain for what you get when you look at performance at the initial cost, however buying a car you can't just look at the initial cost. Maintenance and equivalent add ons just make the m340i make the cost skyrocket. 3. Performance. I get that other cars are faster when compared by the initial cost. But as a dad and regular mon-fri, 9-5 worker, it just makes my commutes fun AF. I'm really happy with that and my car is now the equivalent of my room when I was in my teens. A place where I can have fun chill and be myself doing what I wanna do. I'm really happy with my purchase. I also like to add that I have grown up on Hondas so now that I got my career set, Acura was the next logical step for me lol. I wanted an NSX but I gotta have more room for kids. I'm not trying to start an argument I'm just giving my two cents. When taking it an a holistic package, the TLX type s wins. Great looks , reliability, performance, moderate mpg (I get 19mpg cuz I always drive in Sport/sport + mode), and solid option if you want to BUY. If you want to lease, go to a track, or have ample $$? Go m340i 100% TLX type s zonks: Gas mileage (probably cuz car is heavy) No HUD Wish it was lighter Wish it had wireless car play/android auto. Oh yeah the touchpad. I like it alot has made me a better driver cuz I mess around with touch screens less. I agree with raiti that it's a driver focused car. I love that the screen is far away and flushed with the line from the bottom of the front windshield. It just makes the driving experience better. I would also like to add that other cars particularly m350i have a waaaay better power to weight/size ratio. Like I said if you really prioritize performance go m340i. I prioritized reliability, looks, fun factor, cost efficiency and being family friendly.
@McLeanGary Жыл бұрын
I'm enjoying the logic of the screen being non-touch. The screen in my bride's Giulia is the same and after getting used to it, it's less distracting. Cool whip for sure Team Raiti, great episode!!!

In terms of performance the Acura (or lexus FTM) doesn’t measure up to a M340i…stock or modified. There is no small 4/door that does for the money. The caddy ct4 v blackwing does (on a track at least) but it will run about $10k more reasonably equipped, in which case you just get an M3 comp xDrive and blow everything away that’s sub $100k.

Here in Ontario, Canada, the markup on the Intergra Type S is absolutely nuts (the markup on the Civic Type R was already nuts). I recently saw one selling between $70-80 000 CAD (52 - 60 000 USD). For comparison, brand new TLX Type S is going for $45k USD around here before dealer markup. I've been able to find 1 year old TLX Type S's going for about 60 000 CAD/45 000 USD. I know that new to nearly-new is not an apples to apples comparison but A) there aren't really any used Integra Type S's to compare against and B) the value and class of the TLX compared to the Integra is definitely a step above and is in a different category and you can get one for a comparible price or less. Many will prefer the Integra for the manual transmission and the sportier feel of being a smaller car but you're getting a beefy turbo V6 here with a lot of power and AWD for decent price, especially compared to the German competition. That too may not be apples to apples but that's ok. It just means more choice for the consumer and more variety on the road.

There's no way that this car should not have had at least 400 horsepower. The Infiniti Q50 red sport in terms of power should have been the jump-off point for the Type-S,. Acura could have really knocked it out of the park by giving it 420 or plus HP. It would have given buyers of lower level M cars from BMW a true pause for consideration. Certainly would take the m340i or even the Genesis G70 3.3 AWD over the higer priced TLX -S

TLX Type S is a beautiful car, but its in its own league just like most Acuras always have been. Its bigger than BMW 3 series. Price wise competes with 3 series, C class, but technically should compete with bigger class cars 540i, A6, E class. Type S is still ftont biased car, and BMW M340i wins here clearly. Better handling, better overall performance. Acura lacks of useful features is somehow annoying. No touch screen, no head up display, no rear USB ports in still expensive car. However sound system is superior to BMW's. Simply TLX Type S is a good everyday car, but maybe we expect to much of sportiness from it.... For the price still a bargain car, beautiful and well designed.

I had the M340 and went to Acura to trade it in for a TLX Type S at the end of my lease. Performance wise the M340 was quicker than the TLX Type S, but looks and comfort, the Type S was my choice. As usual Raiti DOES IT! ... Amazing review, covers all the details very clearly - absolute must watch at any given point if one wants to learn about the model reviewed. As far as the car goes, well... Acura TLX as a model is nothing short of a FAIL... Many models across different brands usually "grow" and get bigger and better features... This one? Mixture of overdesigned model that is basically TSX more than TL, yeah... no... absolute failure... performance per dollar is way out of proportion, and there are many other models and brands offering far better performance per $ spent.

Acura is missing the mark. They are forgetting they compete on price. It’s nice to get 75% of the performance for 60% of the price but now they are 90% of the price of the premium brands. BMW has arguably the best modern engine out there in their m340i. This TLX just can’t compete which is fine, but it needs to be $10k cheaper.
