Wife has had two or three 2.0T engines from VW vehicles and we finally got a 21 atlas “v6” before they killed it off and she said it just feels like it’s got such more instant power. The 2.0T these days have plenty of power but the VR6 feels like it has so much more low end. We’re totally happy with it.

Just traded in my 2022 GMC Sierra for a 2024 Atlas Cross Sport SEL. I am absolutely loving it. The only issues I am having are that the Airbags are not working and the A/C tends to dwindle down when I’m at a stop for more that 15-20 seconds, and yes I turned off the Auto Start/Stop. Pretty crazy to have these issues when this is a brand new vehicle, but I am hoping they can fix the problem.

Just picked up a used 2020 Atlas Cross Sport (SEL, 3.6L) fresh off a lease and honestly, it feels like I'm driving one of the nicest cars on the road. I've got to believe most Cross Tour owners feel the same. I owned a BMW X5 before this and it was a costly, unreliable POS and the BMW tech was embarrassingly outdated and difficult to use! Took my BMW in for a Valley Pan Gasket replacement (a $70 part made in Mexico of course) and the labor was over $3,000. I said to the cashier at the BMW dealer "Bet that's not the most expensive repair you've seen..." and she replied "Sir, that's not even the most expensive repair I've seen TODAY". BMW - Never Again!

I have a Volkswagen atlas. My wife hit a deer in May and we haven’t been able to get Parts to repair it. Volkswagen said they do not have any hoods or bumpers, and we do not know when after seven months,they are going to manufacture the parts. We tried to get Volkswagen to buy it back, but they would not. We finance it through Volkswagen with 0% and are going to try to negotiate not paying for the car until it is repaired. I would not buy one of these vehicles. The manufacture is not making parts for these vehicles. Do not buy a Volkswagen atlas

I understand your frustration with the parts shortage for your Volkswagen Atlas. However, it's crucial to recognize that this isn't isolated to VW - there's a widespread global shortage affecting the entire automotive industry. Supply chain disruptions, increased demand, and logistical challenges are impacting various manufacturers. Volkswagen, like others, is navigating through these unprecedented times. It's not a matter of them choosing not to produce parts; it's a complex issue affecting the entire sector. I recommend staying informed about the broader challenges in the automotive supply chain. It adds credibility to discussions about delays and helps set realistic expectations.

@efthimiosgeros6430 nonsense.. using global blah blah shortage as excuse to cut operating expenses. They clearly don't want to make the parts and spend the money to do so
@TheHuskyK911 ай бұрын
You still need to make monthly payments, even if the car is damaged or in need of repair. No car manufacturer is going to buy back a car that isn't fully paid off, that's on you. And instead of going to the dealer, you need to look at 3rd-party parts stores/shops to replace parts unless you have a warranty with VW.

VW (US) really did cheapen out the experience here for the customer by installing a 2.0l in a 4600lb. SUV. For the money your paying for this it should have had the 2.5 inline 5 cylinder turbo. Mazdas upcoming 2 row CX90 SUV will scoop up customers with a better Powertrain (3.0l inline 6 turbo). It’s too bad VW missed the mark on this one because the Cross Sport is genuinely a good looking vehicle.

I agree with many of the zonks of the interior, like the climate control and start-stop toggling processes, and lack of rear vented seats. Glad they joined the other brands that make that under console storage though, and really like their digital gauge setup. Backseat pockets seem a little shallow for my liking, but at least there is one on both sides. Something I'm not familiar with is driving with paddle controlled automatic transmission. Essentially, how does that work?

I totally agree with you. I would have preferred a seamless gray along the fender opening. More of the luxury vehicles have that seamless color. Would have given it a more premium look. Also the fake exhaust is a definite Zonk.

I really don't understand why some of these vehicle manufacturers insist on having all of the climate control and entertainment systems contained solely within an infotainment screen without having any redundant buttons and knobs. Not only is it a safety issue; it also makes operating these systems more complicated than they should be. Also, what happens if the infotainment screen should fail to operate?
@janicebreeze706110 ай бұрын
Indeed, not to mention the issues with ACC of continually slowing down and having to speed correct to the set speed when there is no justified reason to slow down and sometimes only a need to change lanes. I think the reason for these dangerous and unproductive changes, which are in no way improvements, is that some manufacturers want to be on the cutting edge and take steps to move into the future of autonomous driving when there will be no driver involvement. Until then, redundancy is essential for safety, assuming that autonomous driving will ever be safe. I had to deactivate lane assist because counteracting the action of ACC by manually accelerating to restore it to where I set it and it should remain, which requires focusing on my current speed, if using ACC, and viewing and trying to navigate menus while driving, which is insane, I can't stay in the middle of a lane. Otherwise lane assist makes the steering wheel vibrate and take control of the wheel. I can turn off vibrate but not reverse the problem causing me to divert my eyes from the road. Cars with these futuristic changes imposed on drivers without the redundant knobs and buttons are called "intelligent." It takes more than the standard cursory test drive at a dealership to appreciate the impact of these "intelligent" problems. I hope manufacturers are listening: Redundancy is critically needed and so too the option to offer conventional cruise control at the same time as ACC. Good point about what happens when the infotainment screen malfunctions absent redundancy. I feel like drivers are being used as guinea pigs for the benefit of manufacturers. This has forced me to go forward to the past and drive with my foot on the pedals at all times and drive only when essential and try to reduce what is essential. It's safer to talk on a cell phone while driving; at leaset the driver can still keep their eyes on the road. This car still has great features that others don't and for them would probably buy it again but would take a fresh look around first.

More efforts should have been invested in the powertrain. This new inline-4 turbocharged engine should have had at least 280-300 HP to move +4,500 lbs when fully optioned. 269 HP is underpowered (for sure for the sake of fuel efficiency). Even the Ford Explorer's inline-4 has a 300 HP. I like the style but more needs to be done in the engine order to compete in this highly competitive segment.
@JT-fq2bl Жыл бұрын
The Ford like the Koreans, Mazda, Subaru, and Toyota have large 4 cylinder engines that produces more power and torque to handle the size of their vehicles. I know VW doesn't have a large 4 cylinder engine in their stable, but they do have have the 2.5t v6 engine (300hp/300tq) tucked away in China waiting to be used in NA. Unfortunately, VW still somewhat treats our market like a redheaded stepchild.

@@JT-fq2blyeah VW America might need some changes in their marketing dept. I too noticed that the VW Tharu in China/Phillipines has a much more premium luxury interior, compared to VW Taos in America. I think some execs at VW America must not want their cars to compete with Audi. I think a VR6 turbo would be a powerful driving experience, and potentially switch some Audi Q7 customers over to the VW Atlas.

This is a 4-cylinder Turbo 16-valve EVO Engine. It is the 3rd Generation, same as the Arteon until 2021. Very easy to increase the horsepower and torque. Changing the Air system to APR Carbon fiber and Muffler Delete and the 4 coils to the Audi version will increase the HP to 300, with the same gas mileage. Eventually, APR will probably release new software for the computer(costly, around $1,000), increasing the HP to 400HP and matching the torque too. Since 2022, the Arteon has lost one gear in the transmission from 8 to 7 speeds, increasing torque and horsepower to 300HP as standard. They may do the same with Crosspost in the future. But it is not a car; it is a full-size SUV that is too high and unsafe at high speed because of the center of gravity. I have owned many VWs; The six-cylinder version is matched with the 4 cylinder turbo version; the only exceptions to that have been the 2019 Passat 3.6 GT and 2004-2008 R32s, which deliver torque and speed at Porsche and Audi levels.

That fake exhaust outlet is a sign of giving customers less for their money. There are better options.

As someone who used to love Volkswagens, I stay far away from them now… let me tell you once that warranty expires then you’re screwed… a lot of local mechanic shops, tire shops, auto repair shops, will not touch Volkswagens. They say those cars are a mess to work with. Not because they are bad cars. But because Volkswagen makes it impossible for anyone to do any maintenance or repair work on them. Their cars require special tools and parts that many mechanics don’t have. I mean it’s not just a Volkswagen, but mostly European cars. I get it, European cars use different parts. But it’s particularly Volkswagen that makes it even harder than any other European car to work on in the US if it’s outside a VW dealer. It sucks because it’s literally impossible to keep this car long term unless you’re financially stable and don’t mind spending a few extra dollars a year on maintenance once that warranty expires. Volkswagen makes it to where you have to rely solely on them. And that’s where they lost me.. just be careful when you purchase a Volkswagen. Know what you’re getting yourself into.

@@stevencantu6382I’m enjoying it so far. The main reason that I traded in my Q5 for the Atlas Cross Sport was because I needed something a bit larger in cargo capacity. I kept running into limitations with the cargo space of the Audi. To me, it drives similar enough to the Audi to meet my needs. Some of the tech/automation features are even a bit more advanced than the Audi. Honestly, my biggest gripe is the fact that the touch sensitive controls for the temperature and volume aren’t backlit, so they are extremely difficult to use at night. If you can live with that downside then you will probably be happy with vehicle. I love the Pure Grey color. My differs from Joe’s review in that mine has the black interior with blue highlight. I think that both interior colors look very upscale. Let me know if I can answer any other questions that you may have.

As someone that has owned 3 2.0 TFSI vehicles from VAG and also tuned them as my job, do not sleep on the power of any VAG engines. Like the 1.8T before it the 2.0 TFSI has won many engine of the year awards. In fact even prior to the refresh to add a timing chain, harmonic crank, and replaced parts which proved to be not up to VAG standards, they won 6 years in a row. They have also changed the turbine geometry on the turbo, improved the injectors and the high pressure fuel rail pump which wore out the cam lobe over time, and designed new PCV valves to aid in crankcase venting. Horsepower stats continue to rise and have a factory option for adding APR tuning onto vehicles like the GTI which puts you at 300 Crank HP / 320 Tq. All with full warranty in place. The turbo is a borg-warner custom designed part, but it spools up fast and provides instant/near-instant access to tons of power. All versions are an absolute blast to drive.

These are great vehicles. I’ve owned many VDubs. Not sure why people keep buying the same old Hondas and Toyotas. 🤤

I like engines that are more efficient. Have virtually the same power as the v6, but better fuel economy.

The VW brand is definitely a GOOD vehicle, the problem lies in there dealership, the sales and service DEPARTMENTS SUCK , they are the most unprofessional people in the industry!!!!

There are a lot of lousy dealerships, whether lousy for sales, service, customer experience or all three. Since you seem okay with the brand you may, depending on where you live and how far you're willing to travel, want to know about the dealership someone told me about that breaks the mold in every positive way: Nemer VW in Latham, NY. This is near Albany, NY. Just made a long distance trip there where I leased a Cross Sport. Simply for an oil change or topping off fluids I'm not fussy and will have this done where I wouldn't consider buying/leasing, but Nemer VW is a dealership to know about. I'm just not liking the changes to the VW but hope I'll adapt. Had 2 VWs from another dealer before.

most if not all trims, come with heated/ventilated seats. Fully digital cockpit and more. Look at an SE w/technology package. That’s around $43-$45,000.
