4-wheel steer is ridiculously perfect when towing. Had an idiot cut me off when I was towing. Trailer got one good swing, enough to worry me, and 4-wheel steering kicked in and locked it down instantly. Couldn’t help but laugh. I’ve been in that situation before and it was awful. This was trivial. Sierra EV 2024. Best truck I’ve ever owned!

Computer systems for stability control in general have made leaps and bounds. I've taken my 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid AWD on glare ice on a two lane road and just floored it all the way to 60, no muss, no fuss, sets the power right at the limit of traction, doesn't need inputs to keep straight.

25:40 In regards to charging, we've seen these peak at over 380 kW on 350 kW chargers, but it does appear that the bottleneck is the 500 A current limit of CCS1. When GM introduces a native J3400 socket, if it is rated for 600+ A, it's possible that we could see peak charging speeds in excess of 450 kW. That being said, a majority of the DC fast chargers for both of the two largest U.S. public charging providers (Electrify America and EVgo) are already 350 kW, so adding 100 miles of real-world driving range in 10 minutes of charging is a reasonable expectation if you start your charge with less than 60% battery. A 30-minute charge starting at 10% battery should get you back to more than 70% battery, which should be >275 miles of added driving range, depending on conditions. As a rule of thumb, you'd want to cut that range in half when towing heavy, so a 30-minute stop should add 130 to 140 miles of real-world towing range. Not great by ICE truck standards, but definitely the leader of the pack when it comes to EV trucks, most of which can't even do 130 miles on a full battery when towing heavy.

Their web site is showing that for 2025, if you get the "upgraded" battery, you will have 204kWh of capacity. Not sure if that is "usable" or maximum for the battery. They say that unloaded and no trailer under optimal conditions you will have roughly 440 miles of range - roughly 6-7 hours of driving on the highway. If you a large 50a 240v circuit to charge at home (40a usable at 80% load or just under 10kWh), it would take 21-22 hours to fully charge the truck from zero. If you only drove 200 miles on the highway - roughly 3 hours, it would still take 11-12 hours to refuel that energy expenditure . For every hour of highway driving, you will need to charge for 3-4 hours on that 50a 240v circuit. Let that soak in. If you are pulling a trailer, the driving hours will be about half that for the same hours of charging. Surely to heaven anyone that drives their truck 300-500mi a week like me, understands the amount of downtime needed for home charging.

Preconditioning. That is what many people fail to do in severe cold. That Sierra EV has a battery that weighs a ton, or so. That's a large mass that will stay warm for a long time, if heated up before setting out on a trip from home in cold weather. Preconditioning is something that is done automatically with the vehicles of anoTher popular manufacTurer of EVs. Far in advance of reaching a charger, they use the navigation system to choose charger sites and automatically begin using the heat-pump system to warm up all of that battery mass. Just say "route to Supercharger" and the vehicle starts the preconditioning process when a Supercharger location is chosen. This makes for faster charging in subzero temps and also helps to maintain range. EV Batteries like to be warm and cozy to take a fast charge and also give their best performance. Just pulling up to a charger in subzero temps with a cold battery, yes, that's a problem.

So, kinda did not answer the tagline title. Kinda can drive it. Kinda can sit in it. Kinda towed with it. The deal has been on going though. Can it tow? Yes. How far is not even as big of a deal as much as how long it takes when you stop at charger networks. And frankly, that is going to be annoying for most people to have to navigate from charger to charger and park frequently for excessive amounts of time to get anywhere. Basically, this truck is not going to solve the on going issues that EV systems have already proven. Some say it is the charging networks that are responsible for how fast you charge back up, but Tommy has discussed and debunked this fact, as in, the vehicle on board system has to be able to take it as fast as any charger can give it. Range can be comparable to fuel vehicles, but the charging times is the continued factor. And stations need to be as convenient as fuel pumps. For towing, you need a drive through island to tow into. And then you have to factor in, IF EV's became the dominate vehicle on the roads, those few and far between charging networks that may or may not even work, are not going to handle the masses in volume. And what about truckers? Who is going to supply them with proper drive through charging stations? Truckers damn well will not want to un-hitch every time they need to charge up. Time is money.

I have Super Cruise in my rental Cadillac right now. I do like it, but it can be improved. If it tells you to take control for whatever reason, sometimes it doesn't want to acknowledge that you _have_ taken control. You have to wiggle the steering wheel or something, which is obviously suboptimal. It has also done the aggressively slowing down to avoid hitting a phantom object more times than any other vehicle I've driven. Great tech, details can definitely be improved. They also really need to work on 2025 CT5 Android Auto scaling/fitting to their display's shape (or, if it already does, I need to find the right setting).

25:50 with the charging port on the front passenger side you can easily charge at a Tesla Supercharger (NACS / SAE 3400) with only taking up one normal stall. Similar to Silverado EV with it in the rear drivers side (like normal Tesla's). The GMC EV has the advantage when towing tho that if room you can leave your trailer on. A little awkward and you should probably stay with vehicle in case you need to move but a thought out design.

I thought the same thing as they showed it driving off with the trailer. Those wheels look ridiculously large to be towing with. Obviously the capacities are fine and it all works out on paper, but it looks very silly. I hear a lot of reviewers mention the ride is a bit chattery due to the thin tires and super high PSI. I feel like a taller sidewall (that flexes) would mitigate a lot of those complaints

Looks to have a (way oversized) 3D printed seat (all fine and good) but with all those pores/holes it is going to constantly be full of dirt and mud, and impossible to clean. The machine is way too high (C of G, not ground clearance) and probably weighs 6x as much as a quad should. The fake side scoops are right in the way of ergonomics.
