2024 GMC Sierra EV vs. 2025 Rivian R1T Tri: Luxe Truck Duel

This video seems to be all about off-road capabilities. While appreciated, 99% of my time is not spent off-roading or rock climbing. Would rather have a video that compares everyday things, like super cruise, charging speed, cabin noise, etc.

I've got an R1S (1st Gen) and it's an amazing vehicle. I'm the same 99% is on-road and it's great. Tons of power, tech features and the storage is more than any gas SUV. I got 6 adults + 1 kiddo + luggage + Yeti 45, for a long weekend and we all fit comfortably. Seriously the best car I've ever owned.

I did. And my stock Rivian with aired down street tires recently outperformed a modded out Jeep (with angry eyebrows!) at a local offroad park. Then I got back on the highway and drove home, just like they said in the video.

People who see this as buying one single car that can replace their off-roader , daily driver and a performance car . Those that have multiple cars . The Denali is not the AT4 it isn't calibrated for off-road tracks like this. The off-road the Denali is for is dirt roads.

@@newscoulomb3705 The Sierra is a 800V 200 kWh+ battery. This is for towing. The Rivian is an jack of all trades truck. It has adjustable air suspension with roll control. I have the R1t. If I were buying an EV to tow, I would buy the Silverado EV or Sierra.

I've had my Rivian for a year. It has a ton of flexibility. Get some ski racks if that's really a show stopper. Mine work great

They actually work incredibly well. Literally the best headlights I’ve ever driven behind. Yes they do look a bit unorthodoxed but they’re great!

What about using a truck as a… well… truck? What can it haul/fit in the bed? How is the towing? So focused on off-roading and camping, which for some is all that matters, but I feel like for a lot of people that’s not what they’re looking for. Would have liked a lot more info.

I have a 5.7L Tundra and a trimotor Rivian R1T. Each has it's plusses and minuses, but the Rivian being front wheel biased is a problem. A long wheel base vehicle with front wheel bias is difficult to park. I love them both but the Tundra is better to drive and park.

Actually you are supposed to keep momentum going up the hill. But I agree Chevrolet and gmc should do a better job on being able to stop on the hill and take off again but instead they only focused on range instead of everything a truck is designed for

Lightning needs to up its game. It’s lackluster where it matters most with slow charging speed and not enough range for road tripping especially when towing.

It's more of a cell phone then a ice vechile when it comes to resale and reliability. That's why they wont be rebuild years down the road. I've never heard anyone rebuilding a samsung s7 lol. New tech replaces the old and old tech ends up in the land fill. Not so environmentally friendly especially when right to repair is at risk aswell

@@hatchet157 maybe ... Old cars are only rebuilt because of the rarity or sentimental value. People are already rebuilding the original Tesla roadsters. The biggest issues with evs is there isn't an entire industry or manpower around it yet

There's nothing to rebuild, no engine, no transmission, no transfer case, no U joints to go bad and let your drive shaft hit the pavement. There are no valves to burn, no head gaskets to replace, no cylinders to loose compression. Just powerful 3-phase motors. The batteries are also recyclable. If you don't like them then don't buy one. My husband has been a mechanic for over 40 years and my father was a mechanic, I've seen the destruction that can happen when old cars start hitting end of life or are not maintained. Battery technology is advancing to make them safer, longer lasting and quicker to charge. However, I do still love my old gas engines. I learned to drive in a '64 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 and learned to drive a stick shift when I bought an '84 BMW 318i. couldn't drive it when I first bought it but quickly learned because I loved it.
