New liner, refaced head, that's a bus that's dropped a valve some where in it's past. Big end bearing wear is also an indication of an engine that has spend a lot of time running on the governor at maximum rpm. Have the block pressure tested to be sure there's no porosity or cracks in the cooling jackets, one of the bores looked a bit odd where the water jacket is, like the bore was eroded. A great engine, not much power, not much torque, not very economical compared to a newer engine, but it's still repairable after 70 odd years that says something.

I know it's a little belated but a got engine shop that does plateau honing can refinish these liners taking less than half a thou out, just a bit of trivia for anyone watching and thinking about refreshing there's

I noticed several liners have no cross hatching left, I would rebuild it.

I suggest cleaning, re seal, and use it. The coach has many systems/parts that should also receive attention. If you go deep on the engine will you short change the rest?

If you've got the money convert it to a turbo depending on the application. They're better on fuel. Also fuck those trunk pistons off and put crossheads in with new liners.

went this far if you can afford it nothing like a peace of mind

If you can afford it, do it. Keep receipts, and have documentation of it all. Should sell nicely, if need be. Yes, abandon the alternator!

I would take a 3000 grit or a very fine grit emery cloth and polish the crank and plastigauge it to make sure it's in spec and with new liner kits build her back up. I've seen bearings in a lot worse shape not damage the crank. Send the heads to be reworked if you are unsure of their integrity. I think you will be in good shape with it. Now is the time to do it as right as you can since it is out of the bus. I'm going to be doing the same to our MC8 when I swap it to an automatic very soon. I agree on getting rid of the gear driven alternator and make a block off plate since they are prone to grenade the gear train when they lock up. Keep up the videos on your progress. I really enjoy watching!!!!!

Rodney I have a few grits of crank tape 1500-2000-2500-3000 I may polish it a bit And I’ll make sure to plastigauge of course

@@looksbrokengarage175 That sounds perfect. You will have her running like a new one in no time with just a few leaks. LOL!!

if you're into the engine this far, I hope you spit the pistons and looked at the wrist pins too.

I’d rebuild it. Your already there. It’ll have more value afterwards. IMO
