Very thorough video. Tonnes of great info. I would suggest a couple of things. People will see CCS and not level 3 at the charging stations. The other is when you said preconditioning increases range. It's probably more accurate to say makes the most of your range. Other than that I loved the approach and flow you have detailing the E-Tron! Keep up the great work!

Great video. Very informative. The first one that I have watched that explained the charging process. I did not know there are three levels. So level one would be a normal outlet? I am waiting for the battery technology to advance further because I need more distance. I wonder if the cells can be replaced with newer (solid state perhaps?) cells when they become available? Also I like how you can set the timing for charging. Here in AZ we have off-peak and peak time with our electric company, and this will allow charging during off-peak hours. In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy my Navarra Blue Q7.

Thanks for watching! Level one is the standard 1-10 outlet. I think the battery technology will grown leaps and bounds in the coming years. You can only replace the cells with another cell just like it. I love the timers for off peak charging too!

As with the current model, you have multiple charge timing options. I usually plug in and then have it set to charge between 00:30 - 04:30 which is the low tariff period. You can change it remotely via your phone app.

Hi Emily, I really enjoyed how detailed this video was. I am a little confused by the title. I thought you’d be comparing the base model to the S line but this video is done using the S line e-tron alone? If you get a chance to do a side by side with the base and S line with their respective packages that would be very helpful. I am debating whether it’s best to get the base model with the prestige package or go with the S line with the same package. Also, doing an overview on the e-tron maintenance requirements would be amazing! I am having a hard time finding videos on maintenance.

Great review. Even my wife thinks your review is excellent and she’s tough to please! Only suggestion; would help to have an intro with a good “stand back” look at the car so you get a good impression of how it looks. I couldn’t see that easily and I’m debating whether black optics is really a good idea. Even better if it’s outside in natural light, with a close-up of the paint so any metallic tint is visible. Depending on the package you have there will be ambient lighting or not. It is only when the headlights are on too.

Thanks! If you buy from an Audi dealer they can provide you with something like a battery health report. Best management is charges to 80% or less for daily use and 100% only for long trips.

Is the charging port on the outside the only place to charge the vehicle? It looks like all that is under the hood in that compartment is just cables and attachments. Is that correct or will the hood need to be open when charging at home?

It’s only on the outside. The compartment under the hood is storage only. The portable charging cord is stored there. You do not change the car from under the hood.

Thank you for watching! Where do you live? I just got the chance to see a Q4 e-tron. I am really really excited for these to start coming to the dealerships for sale. The Q4 e-tron and the e-tron Sportback are quite different. The Q4 is meant to be your first EV or first Luxury EV. The regular e-tron or e-tron sportback is meant for a client that is switching from say an A6 to an e-tron. The Q4 has some more basic functions vs the e-tron sportback has those really unique luxury functions. Does this help?

Hmm this is a tough one. All of the Audi's will share the same Adaptive cruise control system with lane keep assist. That is about as autonomous as Audi's will be for now. Audi will wait until they have their Autonomous systems perfect, then they will bring them into vehicles for sale. I haven't had enough time with the Q4 or gotten a chance to drive one, but I think both the Q4 and e-tron would be a solid choice. They both have tons of tech packed into them. Or if you wanted to stay with a gas powered car, I'd recommend the Q8.

Q4 and e-tron are very similar in range, with slight advantages for the Q4 with the larger battery. Comfort, material appeal, clarity are the advantages of the e-tron. Q4 is smaller but offers almost the same space as the e-tron.

Was there an range update between the 2021 and 2022 Audi e-tron Sportback? The range of this S-Line Model with big wheels is similar to the range of an BaseModel 2021 with 19“ wheels. The range difference between 19 an 20“ wheels are nearly 20 Miles.

The Audi e-tron Sportback current starts at $70,295 with zero options and non metallic paint. However the reason I have not been quoting starting prices is due to Audi changing the MSRPs. They have raised them twice this year along and are forecasted to change them a few more times. The e-tron sportback is about half as available as the regular e-tron quattro. 218 is the EPA estimated range. every single one of my customers gets better than the EPA range on their e-trons. There are 3 different wheel combinations available.

Try decaf :). Great looking but too bad it drives like a tank (way too heavy, slow, and relatively bad range). Given the price, these areas are too important to buy one. Again, too bad as it looks great!

Thanks for watching! I actually don't drink anything with caffeine. I haven't ever driven an EV that doesn't feel like a giant lumbering SUV. As someone who lives in Minnesota, the e-tron has been the only EV that has its closest to EPA range in the winter. But no EV is perfect yet, I am excited to see the improvements in the coming years.

@@emilytheaudinerd It was an awesome review. I’ve test drove the S, Y, IPace, XC40, and ETron. I still think ETron feels 1000 lbs heavier and 1+ second slower at the start. Try the IPace and you’ll immediately see what I mean. That said ETron S is one super nice luxury electric SUV. I’d order one today if it was better in those 3 (key for me) areas.

@@rockykropp If you are only looking for a car with best 0-60 times, yes, the e-tron is this second slower. How often do you use this? If you are looking for a comfortable car the e-tron is outstanding comparing to your list. How often do you need this? My answer, 0-60, not very often, comfort - every trip. Range - I think you will reach your destination with an e-tron. Range is mostly overrated for daily use. Edit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3elaZ-egcpqpsk and here you see an e-tron is able to follow a Mustang/Porsche even if he feels like a tank.

The mystery is that, this Q8 looks smallish... smaller than Q7. Is this positioned as a lesser model than Q7 ?? Whereas the previous Q8 is a notch above Q7 in terms of pricing & specs. A little confusing for us outside of Europe & Americas.

This is NOT the Q8 e tron. This is just the e tron sportback. We will get the Q8 e tron next year. The Q8 is actually smaller than the Q7. The Q7 is the largest vehicle Audi makes!

Audi's exterior lighting options, while cool, are also very confusing. You should do a video explaining which lighting options are available on which models, especially which ones can get the lights with the projectors that throw images on the wall/road. Maybe then you can also explain why the FLAGSHIP and most expensive electric car for audi (Etron GT) DOES NOT get them! So stupid.

I will agree with you, the availability and names are extremely confusing. Audi calls the same thing 3 different names. The first type is the basic matrix design headlights with animation. That is the simple dance it does when you unlock or lock the car. Most of the time this is found on prestige models, sometimes depending on the model there will be the option for the headlights as a part of an additional package for a premium plus. Then the next step up are the digital matrix design headlights, they have the animation and the projections. Right now this is only offered on e-tron quattro chronos editon, e-tron S, e-tron Sportback and e-tron S Sportback. The next step beyond that will be the fully functional LED Matrix headlights. Those are forecasted to be here sometime during or after 2024. One common question with those coming is are these programable into the current headlights, they are not. The Full matrix headlights are a completely different headlight and additional modules are needed as well. I have asked many times why the GT does not have the option for the digital matrix lights and no one has been able to give me a strait answer. They just say "It just didn't get that package". I think that is a HUGE miss on their part.

@@emilytheaudinerd Wow. I didn't expect to learn that much information lol. Thanks so much. You and I were both right -- it's hella confusing lol. And I realize making a dedicated video on lighting would be complicated, too. But I'm not the only person out there who uses exterior lighting as one of the factors in buying a new car. I will say that Audi has been the leader in this category for a long time, followed by BMW and Mercedes in distant 2nd and 3rd place. I hate to sound sexist but for a girl you do a great job talking about cars lol. Hopefully one day somebody, anybody will make a dedicated video on Audi's lighting situation because it definitely needs illumination😁

I'm glad I was able to shed some light on the subject! :) That is truly a great idea about doing a video on Audi's lights, I just have to have enough vehicles in stock to show all of the differences! I have a couple e-trons with the digital matrix lights coming in the next couple months, maybe I will make a video when those are here and demonstrate all of the different types!

@@emilytheaudinerd discussions in Audi forums and AoA rep report that both Matrix-design LED headlights (2019s and 2020s) and Digital LED Matrix headlights (2021+) can be activated via software update. No ETA yet in when that software will be available.

@@huto9606 Einfach schlau machen und sich nicht von Scheinfakten verunsichern lassen. Strom ist nicht knapp. Die Entwicklungen und Ausbau gehen voran. So schnell kann man gar nicht Elektroautos auf die Straße bringen, dass es ein Versorgungsproblem gibt.
