While driving around Denver I saw a great number of modified Tacomas… Just about every Tacoma in the Denver area is modified now that I reflect on it. Which makes me think, the Tacoma is more like a Jeep than I originally imagined, in the sense it’s a blank slate that the owner builds to suite their needs. With the elevation and terrain in Denver, I find it hard to imagine most if not all the Tacomas in the area are regeared at minimum.

I actually bought the TSS model too myself I drove it for about 1 week and exchanged it for the TRD Sport which was a completely different driving experience. The TSS off road was bumpy and had its issues, then again its the base no frills model.

Sloooowww. You know a car is slow when your wife mentions the car has no power .

Base model should come with a manual, like they used to. Lots of issues become non-issues when you control the shifting. Power curves, final drive ratio, it all matters less when you control the drivetrain yourself. That said, I did an ECU tune on my 6 speed Taco because the factory tune was so slow to respond to throttle inputs, it was almost like bad turbo lag, on a NA engine. Obviously, people who are unskilled drivers who can't shift, or people who are stuck in traffic a lot, won't want to hear this. But really, only a really good (not cheap) auto, makes the best use of the modern tech that can, and does, outperform a manual.

I actually found a Gen 2 manual Taco with 4WD in my area once, but when I went to see it there were obvious signs of water damage and it had been wheeled heavily in north GA. I ended up passing on it.

I drive 2023 and I totally agree with you but it’s basic model so it should do basic things, there are obviously more capable trucks but you will be looking for higher price tag. I am leasing mine currently and I am planning on keeping it till it dies. 😂🌮🇺🇦

I feel that these are all valid I still love my truck even with these issues

Glad you are loving it! Do you have any mods planned to improve it? Or are you going to keep it stock?
@piggymadbr04 ай бұрын
besides black out tint on all the windows and meso custom interior red and white lights it’s bone stock (trd-off-road) I’ve had it for a little over a year. My theory was to keep it stock for a year to 1. Know what I want to change and 2. Appreciate the things that I change/Mods Just spent $3300 dollars on mods this week actually and I plan on keeping my truck forever I used it as a work truck for a year then bought something else to save on milage I have a lot planned over the next few years 😂😂😂 Sent this video to a few other people that are interested in Tacoma’s. I this video points out a lot of things they need to consider when getting a Tacoma.

@@piggymadbr0 Thank you, I appreciate it and I’m glad you love your Taco! I seriously wanted to love this vehicle so bad. In fact if you search through my old videos I even tried to trade my 911 for a TRD Pro LOL! One of my favorite things about the Tacoma is how well they hold their value on the resale market. At one point I started looking at a Gen 2 but… All the Gen2s I found in my area at the time had some serious rust issues on the frame, and I live in Atlanta GA! Even with rusting frames and high mileage people still wanted on average $15k or more. I gave up and bought a 911 instead SMH… BUt still in the back of my head I always wanted a Taco!

By the way we also have Honda pilot so I was looking at Honda ridgeline but decided to try Tacoma at first I was like wtf is this, sound and acts like you said it’s broken but then as you drive you kind of love that noise 😂

People do the KDMax Tune to fix the irregular shifts in the Tacoma

Good to hear there are other options to solve this issue. I still can’t believe these trucks leave the factory this way.

Get a Gen 2 4.0l V6 in good condition and you'll like the Tacoma better.
@KRTLyfe4 ай бұрын
I was looking at some a few years ago but in my area they all had a lot of rust on the frames and people were asking $15k and more for them.
@barrydworak4 ай бұрын
@@KRTLyfe yeah, they had a rust problem especially some years. Toyota would replace the frame at no charge if it was an issue, but I'm sure it's too late at this point.

The new 4th gen is leaps and bounds better than the 3rd gen.

Leaps and bounds better at breaking down and needing to be towed to the dealer with less than 5k on the odometer.

Yep, but who’s going to do that to a rental lol. Honestly the rental company should because driving this truck the way it is in the mountains wasn’t a great experience.

A honest opinion makes us think , whats your thoughts on F1 this season , I was hoping you two would have been at Miami again !!!
@KRTLyfe4 ай бұрын
This F1 season is slowly becoming more entertaining especially after last weekend. Seeing Max and Lando race that hard was definitely a breath of fresh air after months of knowing who was going to win. I’m just glad that the gap has closed some, I’m not against any team being dominant or RB winning… but when the gap is 30-40 seconds… what’s the point of tuning in??? I hope this season gets better as it goes and next season should be carnage with all the driver shake ups! So many questions, where is Sainz going is Checo going to keep his seat??? Will Ferrari be fight or flop with LH!!! In summary we are looking forward to next year lol.
