I liked his work as he was the only one at that stage who explored the issues, but I felt that he allowed his 'belief' to guide his conclusion, rather than what you are doing Paul, ie. looking at the evidence and arriving at the conclusions based on where the evidence leads. I liked Dr. Heiser for quite some time. He had an Evangelical background, so you couldn't expect him to address the subjects Paul does. I must have listened to every lecture he gave and bought several of his books. Then I came upon a side interest of his, which revolved around befriending girls in their teens and early 20s and talking them out of practicing yoga and the like. I think yoga is valuable, so I realized it was time to move on. Paul perfectly integrates ancient history with biblical teaching, this video being a good example.

@ , That's great. Yes, he had really good perspectives, and had the courage to step over boundaries that most are afraid of, as it can be a 'career ender'. Yeah, the Yoga thing - as Christians, we are told that it is 'demonic'. Yes, many of the poses are a combination of 'worship' and exercise/stretching. It is due to the 'worship' aspects that Christians tend to stay away from the practice and I can understand why Dr. Heiser may have dissuaded people from Yoga.

Until someone can explain to us who was the first God; you can't say much because we already know for a fact that Enki & Enlil & all of the other gods were not the first. Sounds like Yahweh had a conflict with all of the other gods because maybe he had a right to be angry.

And Yahweh "having a conflict" is no different than saying Set & Heru in Ancient Egypt "had a conflict". What are you basing it on? A claim made in a myth? You need to use some logic and critical thought to realize that humans create myths about patterns but that doesn't translate to mythology texts (which are full of contradicting details) being objective historical accounts. It's futile to "explain to us who was the first God" because these are mythic tales; the most you can do is explain which cultures documented the first stories and allegories and symbols. Just because the story of King Arthur & The Round Table came before the story of Star Wars, that doesn't mean King Arthur is objective history just because it's older. You need to understand what mythology is and how religious dogma determined how those mythologies are framed and grossly edited and re-edited over the generations. Yahweh was, originally, a minor/junior entity in these tales, we at least know that much. And his cult attempted a coup to absorb & erase all record of competition over time. Remember, this is human cultist doing this for their tribal god; don't conflate that with an actual Omnipotent Universal Deity, he's a mere minor tribal god from an ancient near eastern pantheon. Even Zeus started off higher rank than that.

I really appreciate the information you present that confirms things I began to discover over 30 years ago. It was shortly after I left the religious cult that I had been a part of that I began to re-examine the Bible without being influenced by any previous religious doctrines. Hello Paul, When I found you a few years ago, I was still struggling with Christian religious teachings. My parents attended JW meetings 3 times a week, so I started reading the bible at a very young age. I remember asking so many questions because things didn't make sense. I was taught that Jehovah destroyed people who worshiped idols and witchcraft. But I didn't understand why he would need sacrificial offerings or why innocent people, including children, needed to be killed. I thought he was a loving creator. Jesus taught us that we should love one another without judgment. I didn't understand why Jehovah would want his son to be a sacrifice for our sins. What loving parent would sacrifice their child to save others from their sins? It never made sense to me. Jesus told us that he would ask the father to send us a helper, "the Holy Spirit " (the Spirit of Truth), to be our guide. I feel like the Spirit of Truth guides me through intuition but also speaks in a still small voice. So if we receive warnings signs through dreams or intuition and later you find that the things that were revealed came true, then that shows that we have a connection to a higher invisible power. Why aren't religions teaching people that we have the ability to connect to this spiritual source, which comes from our creator? Jesus showed us his ability to connect to this power. He also said, "You will do greater things than I." Are able to touch on this subject in one of your future videos or point me to an existing video that discusses this topic? From age 6 to 18 I was bullied and tormented at least 3 times a day by my peers. This is will go down to the Gospels with Wes as an apologist on the accuracy of the 4 books and the rest with conflilations on the falsity of the texts not approved based on not having an author or by reminitions out of time or cultural writings. Writing starts 3500 BC at present examples but until the accurate estimate of time of these myths it is questionable at best. Bit by bit the blocks and walls covering knowledge wil need to come off. These stories were remembered, like Socrates who thought writing down dimished the mind. I would propose the tales were remembered. Paul I have been hoping you would one day do a video like this. I have followed your work with Mauro and have read all your books. This video will open to the public your work which I feel is vastly needed. I have been in a debate with a younger person who has a podcast and denies any similarity or parallels between the Enuma Elish and Genesis. I finally have come to realize he must be a fundamentalist the reason is when I would point out in black and white some of the similarities rather than look at them or even point out where he thinks my points were in error he would just go on a personnel attack. @jimford1256 • The parallels are not hard to see, unless of course the person in question does not want to see them. You could challenge them to spea to the Old Testament faculty of their denominational seminary and get their take on the key questions raised in the video. The questions I would suggest he ask are : "Are some of the Bible's narratives dependent on Mesopotamian sources?" and "Are Elohim, El Shaddai, El Elyon, Yahweh and Adonai all one and the same entity?" I believe the answer would be the evil ones who wish to control us. That is the same reasoning our governments use to keep us in the dark about what we all must in the end innerstand in order to move forward into the revelation God planned for creation. Hiding the truth does no one any good. It is a an act of hubris on the part of the pastor. Whether a person in a congregation is ready to absorb the knowledge put forth by a teacher is not the decision of the teacher, it is the heart of the person who makes this decision. A teacher must teach the truth always. Those whose hearts are ready for the truth will learn. Those whose heart is not ready to learn will learn when they are ready. This is why Jesus taught those who would learn not to rely on religion or religious leaders for truth. One must develop a personal relationship directly with God. This is true. Coming from seminary myself. People only want to hear what they want to hear. And the seminary courses were curated and you are not allowed to question or see connections that are not according to the zeitgeist. It's like what happened to Jesus as well. The priests wanted an image of God they choose, and rejects the image of God Jesus showed them. We make our gods according to our image, because we actually worship ourselves. Look how many denominations Christianity has. And look how even in the same bible study group, not everyone agrees on everything. Religion and faith itself is about the self. A projection, must be our attempt to make ourselves mean something or someway the way we like. Jesus was right that religion is like wine that makes people drunk or tipsy or forget about reality. Im refering to the miracle of water to wine, where his wine, the better tasting wine being served last.

Paul, I have entered and exited three Masters programs in biblical and theological studies involving different denominations because I had too many questions, asked those questions and it was made known to me that it was highly frowned upon. I'm definety not a biblical scholar, but it seemed obvious to me The Old Testament at least must be based on pre-Christian and pre-Judaic texts because it's recounting events which are thousands of years BC.

I am so grateful for this inciteful and carefully researched explanation. I have been following you on FB and watching your videos, here and on 5th Kind, now for some time. Your books are excellent and finally help me understand MANY MANY MANY questions I have had for years. This helps explain what has happened to the Right Wing "Christian" Church in the USA. Basically stating that Jesus is too WOKE and they desire to have a "god" more judgemental and Xenophobic as the Old Testament Yahweh. Forcing the Old Testament to be in the US Schools is so antithetical to the founding fathers of the United States Vision, and antithetical to the core message that Yeshua taught. It is a bit scary to understand that the conservative wing of Christianity has put on the clothing of the Pharisees Yeshua preached against, and are literally making their followers, "twice as worthy of Hell as themselves." For "What does it PROFITETH a man to gain the world but lose his soul?" All love has been sucked out of the churches of the United States and their judgemental old testament and misogynistic path can be explained by understanding how they have been literally led astray. They are worshiping, quite literally, the antichrist and they don't even care and are too blind to see. They love their HATE and have abandoned the core tenants' of Yeshua's Good News about Loving Your Neighbor as yourself.

When I had my NDE, I was in a place of Pure Love - I knew/know without any doubt that those old stories of judgement and brutality were not done by that Divine Creative Power that I felt. It's exactly as you said Paul, in bible college they mentioned some things in the sidelines, but it was immediately shoved aside. As were a lot of questions. One of the professors (OT) who dared speak out on certain things was ridiculed. I'm so glad I found the right track. Sharing it is still a bit difficult though. Peace from the Netherlands.

It helped me to have a Sociological understanding of how information was passed on orally through the ages, and also, that the Catholic Church acted as the defining Legal System. Primitive tribes who sprang up after Sumer in Mesopotamia and beyond, didn't have laws about Plagiarism, and they used and manipulated information passed on to them that would further their own ideas, or that matched their agendas. They also changed names and outcomes of events, just as was done before and when the Semitics or Jews, acquired the information much later. IMO, these acts were the basis of the many differing religious beliefs that came into being. We'll never know what ancient translators really believed from the translations of the Ancient writings, as the Catholic Church demanded that the translations matched the Church's ideology, possibly at the threat of death. One thing I'd like to add is, without writings or other evidence from earlier civilizations before Sumer, we can't know if the Sumerians existed at the time when the Biblical Events occurred and they wrote according to their own experiences, or if these stories could have been passed down to Sumer from an even earlier civilization before them, so we must keep an open mind that the information that came out of Sumer, could also be just as, or more manipulated as what's in today's religious books. Regardless, I find Paul's and other's Research so intriguing, that most all the questions and puzzlements from the Old Testament and the Torah, finally make sense. I believe that which is considered the Real "God" of Humanity's existence is likely much more advanced than what the average human can understand as of yet, as it's about the Soul and Consciousness, and from where it came. This is a much grander topic than the creation of the container in which they reside. Thank you Paul. ❤❤❤
